The Viscount's Christmas Temptation cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The Viscount’s Christmas Temptation (The Dukes of War #0.5) – Erica Ridley

Certain individuals might consider Lady Amelia Pembroke a managing sort of female, but truly, most people would be lost without her help. Why, the latest on-dit is that rakish Viscount Sheffield is canceling the fête of the year because he hasn’t time for silly soirees. He doesn’t need time—he needs her!
When a flash of lightning destroys the venue for his family’s annual Christmas ball, Lord Benedict Sheffield intends to enjoy a relaxing holiday for once. But after twelve days of beguiling Lady Amelia’s guerrilla tactics, he’s up to his cravat with tinsel . . . and tumbling head over heels in love.

The Walls Around Us cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Walls Around Us – Nova Ren Suma

“Ori’s dead because of what happened out behind the theater, in the tunnel made out of trees. She’s dead because she got sent to that place upstate, locked up with those monsters. And she got sent there because of me.”
The Walls Around Us is a ghostly story of suspense told in two voices—one still living and one long dead. On the outside, there’s Violet, an eighteen-year-old dancer days away from the life of her dreams when something threatens to expose the shocking truth of her achievement. On the inside, within the walls of a girls’ juvenile detention center, there’s Amber, locked up for so long she can’t imagine freedom. Tying these two worlds together is Orianna, who holds the key to unlocking all the girls’ darkest mysteries.
We hear Amber’s story and Violet’s, and through them Orianna’s, first from one angle, then from another, until gradually we begin to get the whole picture—which is not necessarily the one that either Amber or Violet wants us to see.
Nova Ren Suma tells a supernatural tale of guilt and innocence, and what happens when one is mistaken for the other.

Lord Wastrel cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsLord Wastrel (The Curse of True Love #2) – Donna Cummings

When Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, plays matchmaker, true love can seem like a curse. . .
Lord Wastrel–the most notorious rake in London–has a child? Clearly he knows how to sire one, but he has no idea how to actually raise one. He has to learn quickly, since he is the little girl’s only surviving parent, and he’s determined to find a wife who can be a suitable mother. All he needs is someone demure, and biddable, and most importantly, scandal-free.
Lady Felicia Selby is no stranger to scandal, thanks to her numerous failed elopements and Society’s insatiable curiosity about her misadventures. She has devoted many years to finding her one true love, desperate to escape the consequences of the family curse if she fails. But she has begun to give up hope.
Then, one evening, a chance encounter with Aphrodite changes everything.

Profile cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsProfile (Social Media #5) – J.A. Huss

All the best fairytale princesses have the most horrific pasts. Mine just happens to be more horrific than most.

Fantasizing over Vaughn Asher was a dream. Meeting Vaughn Asher was a fairytale. Loving Vaughn Asher was my downfall.

The past is always there. Waiting. Waiting to expose you. Waiting to ruin you. Waiting to take you back.

Sometimes not even a prince can save you.

Did you get some exciting-looking books this week? I have to admit I’ve already read Profile… and I absolutely loved it. Talk about thrilling excitement, and a rush against the clock!

Remember to leave me your link so I can check out your Stacking the Shelves and or Bought, Borrowed and Bagged post, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday.

    • The cover sure makes it look like it, Grace, and the story sounds a little bit like a mix of fairy tale and fantasy 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • I am really loving Social Media, Marilyn. Huss is a master at showing different facets of her characters, so that ones I might almost hate in the beginning are ones I completely love later on 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by.

  1. You did get some lovely looking reads this week, Lexxie. I’m happy to see Profile, of course. 😉 And I’m curious if you’ve read Donna Cummings before? Wastrel sounds good. I hope you love them all! *big hugs*
