Review: Driven – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Driven – Rebecca Zanetti

Driven is the perfect culmination to the Deep Ops series! It had even more suspense than the prior books, and I have to say that the way the mystery unfolded left me surprised and satisfied at the same time. Driven is fast-paced and filled with danger. Not only for Angus himself, but also for his whole team of misfits. I loved how the plot thickened in this final novel in the series, and the mystery became even more difficult to decipher. At the beginning of the novel, the HDD disbanded Angus’ team, and things were looking extremely dire for all of them. In Driven, there is also an amazing redemption arc for Angus, and of course, he needed that, but […]

Review: Murphy’s Law – Lori Foster

Review: Murphy’s Law – Lori Foster

Murphy’s Law was fun! And sweet. And romantic. And filled with suspense and danger, too. Foster never fails to delight me, and I have to say that Murphy’s Law hit the right spot. Ashley and Quinton were both characters I could relate to, even if they are very different from me. Ashley really touched me, because she was such an independent woman, but still managed to ask for help when she needed it. And she definitely knew when she should stop being stubborn, and make sure she and the people she cared about would stay safe… at least as safe as possible. The friendships in Murphy’s Law spoke to me as well, and I enjoyed wedding planning, hanging out, being […]

Review: Justice Ascending – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Justice Ascending – Rebecca Zanetti

Justice Ascending is extremely tense, there are traitors in the midst of our heroes, and there is love, betrayal, hope and so much action it’s impossible to sit still while reading! The Scorpius Syndrome is one of my favorite dystopian series – it is really realistic in many ways, and even more so in Justice Ascending. There is a lot of tension, as different factions continue to fight, all the while trying to see if there is any cooperation possible. The president and his elite guard are lurking in the dark, at the outskirts, partly out of reach, but still able to meddle where they aren’t wanted. Of course, some suspension of disbelief is needed, but the fact that there […]

Review: On the Hunt – Alexandra Ivy et al

Review: On the Hunt – Alexandra Ivy et al

On the Hunt is an anthology with fantasy stories from four different authors’ series. The first story made me satisfied and happy to discover a new-to-me author! On the Hunt – this was my introduction to Alexandra Ivy, and I am hungry for more from her The Sentinels series. There is magic and mayhem, and sentinels who hunt down those who don’t abide by the rules. I found the female lead character, a witch, to be very interesting, because she wanted to live on the outskirt of society in order to help heal those who couldn’t always show themselves everywhere. The story was intriguing, even if it was not the beginning of the series, and I enjoyed both the world […]

Review: Shadow Falling – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Shadow Falling – Rebecca Zanetti

Shadow Falling was just as tense as Mercury Striking, and the characters and the plot moved the story forward flawlessly. The complexity of this dystopian world keeps getting sharper, and I almost had to hold my breath in places. Shadow Falling is the perfect follow-up to Mercury Striking, I found myself on the edge of my seat more than once, and at one point, my foot cramped because I was so tense about what was going on. Vinnie had been through hell, and she had the nightmares to prove it! The fact that she was still able to get up in the morning, show empathy, and try to help the people who had saved her said a lot about her […]

Review: Mercury Striking – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Mercury Striking – Rebecca Zanetti

Mercury Striking is a very powerful dystopia suspense novel, where most technology is down, and what is left of humanity is fighting against a horrible bacteria for survival. Fast paced, filled with suspense and distrust, Mercury Striking is among the best dystopia novels I have ever had the pleasure to read! Zanetti managed her world building by sharing the characters’ knowledge little by little, and in this bleak universe, only the very strong and courageous will be able to keep on going. Lynne Harmony has been on the run for a few months, with only one goal in mind – find a way to help people live with the virus without becoming senseless Rippers in the process. And to do […]

Review: Hunted by the Others – Jess Haines

Review: Hunted by the Others – Jess Haines

Hunted by the Others is my kind of paranormal / urban fantasy! Shiarra is a very good heroine, in that she is definitely flawed, but fiercely loyal and strong minded. My Hunted by the Others review: It’s kind of strange to me, but Hunted by the Others felt so fresh and new in the paranormal urban fantasy genre, but it was actually released in 2010! I wonder if those stories that were the pre-cursors for books being released now had less pressure? I loved Shiarra, and I really enjoyed her friendship with Sara, too. And let me just say the character development is astounding! Shiarra starts out completely freaked out by every person who isn’t completely human. I didn’t get […]
