Audio Review: Shards of Hope – Nalini Singh

Shards of Hope is an amazing story, brought to life by a truly great narrator. Zaira and Aden are very intriguing characters to follow, and this story had so much depth. My Shards of Hope review: Shards of Hope is a very intense installment in the Psy-Changeling series, and this was actually the very first time I’ve listened to a book without having read and loved it before delving into the audio. It was such a great surprise to discover a story through the voice of a very skilled narrator, who brought both the story and all the characters to life in a way that made me feel even more as if I was a part of the story than […]

Review: Wicked Fall – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Fall – Sawyer Bennett

Hot! Also darker and naughtier than Bennett’s usual stories, Wicked Fall was enticing and intriguing as hell! My Wicked Fall review: Wicked Fall is a naughty, hot and still quite romantic tale! Bennett managed to have me intrigued and very interested in both Woolf and Callie, and while I don’t see myself ever visiting any kind of sex club, I was quite pleased to be a secondary voyeur at The Wicked Horse! At first, Woolf definitely intimidated me, but he also really intrigued me, as he was both a very savvy business man and cowboy, and at the same time trying to build a kinky empire for those with the same wants and needs as himself and Bridger. I have […]

Review: Ride Steady – Kristen Ashley

Review: Ride Steady – Kristen Ashley

Ride Steady was an amazing story! Ashley took me on a tender, tough, sweet, sad, funny, happy and very hot ride along with Carissa and Carson. My Ride Steady review: Ashley certainly has a knack for writing stories in which my emotions are fully invested, with characters that might be strong, but that are also utterly vulnerable. Where there has been (or still is) a lot of heartache, but hope is still important. Ride Steady gave me all I expected and more! Chaos is a series in which the characters seem very hard and unmoving, but underneath that tough exterior, there is so much love, loyalty and strong ties to family, friends and the club. Carissa and Joker both had […]

Review: Mercy Thompson: Hopcross Jilly – Patricia Briggs

Review: Mercy Thompson: Hopcross Jilly – Patricia Briggs

Hopcross Jilly is a new story in the Mercy Thompson universe, and reading this graphic novel was fun! My Hopcross Jilly review: I was a little surprised to enjoy Hopcross Jilly so much, both because I’m not reading graphic novels very often, and because Jessie, not Mercy was the main character in this story. The illustrator did a really good job at portraying the darkness of the story, as many of the pages only had black panels, in which the characters were drawn as if they were in the shadows. I have to admit I still enjoy novels more than graphic novels, though, because I’m a word-lover, and of course, when big parts of the story can be told through […]

#Audio #Bookreview: Unholy Magic – Stacia Kane

#Audio #Bookreview: Unholy Magic – Stacia Kane

Unholy Magic is even more gripping, gritty and edgy when it’s narrated by Bahni Turpin! Chess and all her emotions are portrayed so well, as are Terrible and the other characters, too. My Unholy Magic audioreview: Unholy Magic was an amazing story for me to read several years ago, and listening to it made it more. More emotions. More connection with the characters. More in-depth story-telling. I was completely engrossed from start to finish. Bahni Turpin is so good at doing the different voices, accents… it’s easy to know who is talking with her narration. I was also even more amazed with Chess while listening to Unholy Magic. She is so strong and capable, but at the same time, so […]

Review: Devil’s Punch – Ann Aguirre

Review: Devil’s Punch – Ann Aguirre

Devil’s Punch was filled with so much action, I hardly knew how to continue! Corine went through so many things that made my heart not only break, but completely shatter for her. My Devil’s Punch review: Devil’s Punch showed just how much Corine has changed and matured since the beginning of the series, both when it comes to her magic, and when it comes to her relationship with Chance. The beginning was quite slow-paced, set in Mexico  where Corine was trying to get her life back to what counted as normal for her. Her forget-me spell on Shannon and Jesse had ended up being much stronger than Corine had anticipated, and so she was starting over without her best friend. […]

Review: Trouble on Tap – Avery Flynn

Review: Trouble on Tap – Avery Flynn

In Trouble on Tap we finally get to meet the third triplet, and the second chance trope that is prevalent made my heart happy. As with the first two installments in Sweet Salvation Brewery, I buddy-read Trouble on Tap with my friend Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee, and our e-mail exchange is basically my review. We had a lot of fun chatting about this, and it makes us feel like we didn’t live on opposite sides of the world when we read the same book at the same time – and then chat about it afterwards. My Trouble on Tap review / book chat with Brandee: Brandee: I finished this morning. I’ve already had an early morning cry. *sniff* I’m so […]

Review: Everything You And I Could Have Been If We Weren’t You And I – Albert Espinosa

Review: Everything You And I Could Have Been If We Weren’t You And I – Albert Espinosa

Everything You And I Could Have Been If We Weren’t You And I was a strange and somehow chaotic story, with beautiful prose and a definite feeling of what is and what isn’t important in life (both this and the next). My Everything You And I… review: The story itself in Everything You and I… is rather weird, because the narrator jumps back and forth in time, and also changes the subject without any qualms, even if that usually happens at the end of a sentence at least. In this strange universe, many people have taken a drug to stop sleeping. And at the very beginning of the novel, Marcos starts by telling the reader that what he likes best […]

Review: The Veil – Chloe Neill

Review: The Veil – Chloe Neill

The Veil is filled with magic, friendship, treason, and quite a bit of hurt. In this new world of hers, Neill managed to keep me pretty much at the edge of my seat for the duration. My The Veil review: In The Veil, New Orleans is like a different place on earth, because there has been a war between magic and military, and now, the paranormals are imprisoned in a place called Devil’s Isle. Soon after her father’s death, Claire realized she had some magic, too, and she had to hide it at all costs, lest she’d be imprisoned in Devil’s Isle herself. The story started with a commemoration of the war, where Claire went with her best friends Gunnar […]

Review: The Piano Man Project – Kat French

Review: The Piano Man Project – Kat French

Fun, flirty, but still pretty deep, The Piano Man Project was a very good story. My The Piano Man Project review: Honeysuckle (yes, that’s her name!!) has not had a lot of luck when it comes to men, and when she tells her best friends she’s never had an orgasm in her life, they decide to help her find a man – one who is good with his hands. And that’s how the piano man project was born, over drinks after a visit to a sex-shop. However, even with her friends’ intervention, and with her best interest at heart, Honey is so intrigued by her new neighbor Hal that any other man just seems kind of bland next to him […]
