Review: Lennon Reborn – Scarlett Cole

Review: Lennon Reborn – Scarlett Cole

Lennon Reborn is the perfect ending to the Preload series! Heavy on emotions, this story was simply beautiful! Story: Lennon Reborn packed more than a few punches, and I was so emotionally involved in his story it was hard to put down. The story started with a loud bang, and includes some dark themes and might trigger some readers. If you want to know what kind of trigger, please contact me privately. I think Lennon’s backstory is the one that touched me the most. It’s a wonder he could even function at all with all he had to go through as a young child, and then through several foster homes until he found the Preload guys. Lennon Reborn not only […]

Review: The Study of Seduction – Sabrina Jeffries

Review: The Study of Seduction – Sabrina Jeffries

The Study of Seduction is filled with romance – albeit quite reluctant on both the male and the female part – danger, delight, despair, and heartfelt love. Story: Jeffries really has a knack for creating relatable characters, a bit unconventional, and able to reel the readers in. The Study of Seduction definitely reeled me in! I love friends to lovers stories, and that is what I got here. Edwin and Clarissa have known each other for as long as they can remember. And so, when Warren needs to leave England – but thinks it’s too dangerous to leave Clarissa open to the advances of a French suitor – he asks Edwin to look out for her. The Study of Seduction […]

Audioreview: Hounded – Kevin Hearne

Audioreview: Hounded – Kevin Hearne

Hounded was a fantastic story, with really well done mythology, character development, action, and plot! Story: I did a buddy listen of Hounded with Carole @ Carole’s Random Life. We both agreed that Oberon was our favorite character. The overall story really appealed to me, because it had a druid main character, Atticus. And, as I said to Carole at one point, it was refreshing to have a male protagonist in adult Urban Fantasy. I know there are others, but it’s been a while since I’ve read or listened to one. Hounded starts off with showing the readers what this universe is like, there are gods – from all pantheons – fae, vampires, shifters, witches, and of course out druid. […]

Review: Michael’s Wings – Tiffany Reisz

Review: Michael’s Wings – Tiffany Reisz

Michael’s Wings… *sighs* I wish I had had the self control to read this selection of short novellas much slower. But that was simply impossible. The stories were all irresistible, and it made me so happy to be in the Orginal Sinners universe once more! Stories: All the stories in Michael’s Wings are set in the Original Sinners universe. If you know me at all, you know I absolutely love everything about the characters, the universe and the stories Reisz writes in this series. Each story brings something new to the table. A little quirk a character has. A different perspective on something that happened. A vulnerability that had been well hidden in the past. And, as always, the writing […]

Review: Flesh Into Fire – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Review: Flesh Into Fire – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Flesh Into Fire brought Maddie back into more danger than Tyler could take – which made things extremely difficult for both of them! Story: Flesh Into Fire is the third installment in power-duo Huss McClain’s Original Sin series, and I was sadly not fully satisfied with this story. Some parts felt a bit rushed to me, and the overall story didn’t move forward as much as I would have liked. The character development is rather slow as well. Tyler has evolved quite a bit, but he still needs work. And Maddie is still almost the same as she was in the first book. I had a bit of trouble pinpointing why I wasn’t as excited about Flesh Into Fire as […]

Review: Oceanside – Michelle Mankin

Review: Oceanside – Michelle Mankin

Oceanside brings real problems, real heartache, and real relationships to the surface. Because of the way these subjects were treated, I was totally immersed in the story, as it made the characters very real to me. Story: Oceanside starts with a flashback, which brings Ash and Fanny’s first meeting to the reader’s attention. It was a great first meeting – who else has met someone at the Oscar’s just before they both were to perform? This happened in 2012, but the main action happens in 2015, after Fanny’s life has completely changed. No longer in the spotlight, she wants a more quiet life. A life where she can make her own decisions. Where she can do what she loves. Up […]

Review: Love and Other Words – Christina Lauren

Review: Love and Other Words – Christina Lauren

Love and Other Words is one of the most poignantly beautiful stories I have ever read! My heart is still reeling, and I want to both laugh and cry at the same time. Story: Love and Other Words switches between Macy’s childhood and the present, slowly unraveling all her secret thoughts, fears, loves, hopes, and heartaches. Christina Lauren’s stories just get better and stronger with each book, and I can hardly even write because my feelings are all over the place. The character development in Love and Other Words is nothing short of amazing. And the friendship between Elliot and Macy when they were children and teens is beautiful. There were just so many little details about them both that […]

Review: Murder Notes – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: Murder Notes – Lisa Renee Jones

Murder Notes is a fast-paced, action-filled suspense / mystery / romance with a kick-ass heroine, and a lot of men who think they know better. Story: Murder Notes starts with a nightmare from Lilah’s past, only to propel both her and the reader to the present. With several execution-style murders. The dead do not appear to have anything in common – maybe apart from the fact that Lilah is the one who profiles their cases. In order to dig deeper, Lilah has to go to the one place she has no inclination of visiting again. Home in the Hamptons. To her father, her brother, and other people she really does not want to see. Both the mystery and the suspense […]

Review: Angels Fall – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Review: Angels Fall – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Angels Fall didn’t captivate me the same way Sin With Me did. I felt quite detached from the characters, even if the writing was really good. Story: Angels Fall follows the action straight after Sin With Me. And I kind of feel like not much happened – even if it did. At the beginning of the story, Maddie was not where she wanted to be, but she had a plan about how to extricate herself. At least for the short term. Tyler was very much the same, even if Angels Fall, he was a bit more reasonable. He thought about other people than himself. He figured out that there were, indeed, people who cared about him. And he didn’t stop […]

Review: Pretty as a Peach – Juliette Poe

Review: Pretty as a Peach – Juliette Poe

Pretty as a Peach is the fourth book in the Sex and Sweet Tea series, but the first I have read. And because I wanted more – I went one-clicking my way through the first three books 😉 Story: Pretty as a Peach was such a cute romance, I was swooning as I read about Colt and Darby. Their trials and tribulations made me love them so much – even when Colt was acting like a dolt in the beginning. Two neighboring farms, where Colt was struggling to make ends meet. And Darby fleeing a horrible marriage, with her little daughter in tow. Darby’s idea of how to work a farm was also completely opposite from Colt’s, and that sure […]
