Review ~ Wicked All Night ~ Jeaniene Frost #SIAM

Review ~ Wicked All Night ~ Jeaniene Frost #SIAM

I can! I can read a series in a month! Special thanks to Anne @Books of My Heart for organizing our buddy read of the Night Rebel series with Berls @Because Reading and Lillian @Mom With a Reading Problem. It was a lot of fun!   Ian and Veritas’ story had ticked all my boxes so far so Wicked All Night had a lot to live up to as the final installment. While it did deliver on most of my expectations, there were too many unanswered questions to leave me fully satisfied. Once again, we pick up the story where we left off and this last piece moved at break-neck speed. We have Veritas heading to the Netherworld in order […]

Review ~ Wicked Bite ~ Jeaniene Frost #SIAM

Review ~ Wicked Bite ~ Jeaniene Frost #SIAM

Oh good golly! Wicked Bite picks up where Shades of Wicked left us and hurtles us onto a thrilling, fast-paced continuation of Ian and Veritas’ story. And let me tell you – Ian made me love him even more in Wicked Bite and I didn’t think that was possible. 😉 Wicked Bite sees Veritas attempting to fulfill a promise by hunting down souls. She’s doing her damnedest while also avoiding Ian for…reasons. Events in the last book have Ian’s memories a little hazy but he remembers Veritas and his feelings for her quite clearly. However, Veritas is not only running from Ian’s memories – or her belief in the lack thereof. She’s also protecting him from the extreme danger she […]

Review ~ Shades of Wicked ~ Jeaniene Frost #SIAM

Review ~ Shades of Wicked ~ Jeaniene Frost #SIAM

I’ve been a fan of Ian (for the most part) since first meeting him. He provided a lot of comic relief, to be sure, but his reaction to Cat killing someone in his employ made me wonder at what was beneath this devil-may-care veneer. We’ve seen glimpses throughout the series but in Shades of Wicked, we are finally made privy to the real Ian. And let’s not forget Veritas. Upon first introduction, I liked her because I could see she wasn’t the hard-nosed Law Guardian she should have been. I had no idea the layers she had or the impressive being she is. There couldn’t be a more perfect partner for Ian. Shades of Wicked sees Veritas teaming up with […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Halfway to the Grave ~ Jeaniene Frost

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Halfway to the Grave ~ Jeaniene Frost

Oh wifey! I’m so excited to have started our re-read of the Night Huntress series for the COYER read-along. It’s been so very long since I was in Cat & Bones’s world and I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed them! You know, when I started Halfway to the Grave, I realized I first read this series in 2011, before I even started blogging. And I had forgotten how much I loved both Cat and Bones. It was so nice to come back into the universe of the Night Huntress.   I have to admit that I’d completely forgotten how prejudiced Cat was when we first meet her. I mean, I understand the reasons behind it, but still. I was […]

Review: Night’s Darkest Embrace – Jeaniene Frost

Review: Night’s Darkest Embrace – Jeaniene Frost

Night’s Darkest Embrace is a good story with demons, half and full-blooded, as well as fallen angels. My Night’s Darkest Embrace review: Mara is a strong half-demon on a mission, and that mission just might end up being as fatal for her as it was for her cousin Gloria. Most of Night’s Darkest Embrace happens in a different dimension on earth, where half-demons,  full demons and fallen angels live, but not together in harmony. Full demons feed on half-demons, and fallen angels feed on demons, so there is a certain hierarchy to take into consideration, even if mostly partial demons live in the dimension where Mara is trying to search for the two full demons who kidnapped Gloria years ago. […]

Review: The Beautiful Ashes – Jeaniene Frost

Review: The Beautiful Ashes – Jeaniene Frost

The Beautiful Ashes is a good foray into Young Adult by one of my favourite authors! Using a different kind of paranormal, while developing both the characters and the story on the go, I was caught in the net Ms. Frost weaved for me. My The Beautiful Ashes review: The Beautiful Ashes is a fast-paced story, written in first person point of view, past tense, from Ivy’s perspective. She hasn’t had just a bad day, she’s had a bad month, and at the start of the story, it seems to just be getting worse! Ivy can see other dimensions superimposed on the dimension here on Earth, and her whole life she has thought she was hallucinating, and that what she […]

Review: Up From the Grave (Night Huntress #7) – Jeaniene Frost

Review: Up From the Grave (Night Huntress #7) – Jeaniene Frost

Up From the Grave is the last installment in one of my favorite series ever, and wow, did it take me for a wild ride! My emotions were all over the place, and this review is going to be very hard to write without spoiling anything – but I still promise there are no spoilers. Cat is true to herself in Up From the Grave – always ready to give her all to save the ones she care about, and there is a lot of sacrifice going on in this story. However, a lot can be achieved with a little help from our friends, right? From on crisis to the next, there is never a dull moment, and a lot […]

Review: Twice Tempted (Night Prince #2) – Jeaniene Frost

Review: Twice Tempted (Night Prince #2) – Jeaniene Frost

Twice Tempted is book #2 in the Night Prince series, and it continues showing how complex Vlad is, and what Leila needs to be happy living in his castle. I love how controlling Vlad has always seemed to me, yet with Leila there is something more soft and caring about him. But there are some concessions he won’t make though – saying ‘I love you’ is one of them. Showing the difference between Leila and Vlad based on their life experience, and Leila doesn’t have her powers anymore at the beginning of Twice Tempted, and it seems to her that since she lost her powers, Vlad has lost interest in her. She is sad, and doesn’t know what to do […]

Review: Once Burned (Night Prince #1) – Jeaniene Frost

Review: Once Burned (Night Prince #1) – Jeaniene Frost

In Once Burned, Leila started out like just a weird young woman with a strange power, but she quickly grew to become a very strong opponent, even against powerful vampires! The way she found out that she could link to vampires, and that those who could read minds could talk back at her was hilarious, and I loved how she never flinched in the face of danger. Jeanine Frost always manages to make her female protagonists strong, level-headed and real. I think one of the things I loved the most about Leila was that she used to be a gymnast, and that she turned her childhood bullies’ nick-name for her into a new identity she could use to strengthen herself. […]
