Coming for You is pretty epic, both as an ending in the Dirty, Dark, and Deadly series, and because the whole team from Rook and Ronin and the spinoffs show up.
My Coming for You review:
Where do I even start a review about the awesomeness that is Coming for You? In Come, I really didn’t like James at all! He made me so uneasy, and I thought he was obnoxious and forceful. However, in Come Back, I got to know him better, and especially the way he was with Sasha won me over completely. Let me just tell you that in Coming for You, he totally blew my socks off! The whole story was very eery, mysterious and filled with tension. Until the very end, I had no idea whom the characters could trust, and each time I read a different point of view, I changed my mind. Huss truly outdid herself here, because the intricacies in the story and the way it unfolded was so well done.
Harper felt like she was thrown under the bus, first because of James, then her father. Everything I read in Coming for You that was from Harper’s point of view made me doubt all the other characters. However, when I read the chapters from James’ point of view, I had doubts, too. Who was still after him, and why? The tension was ever building, and I just couldn’t read quick enough to figure out everything that was going on.
Sasha truly grew as well in Coming for You. She might be only thirteen years old, but she’s very smart, cunning and knows much more than she has shared with the readers in the past books. I think she was the character I doubted the most, especially because even in her chapters, she continued to be secretive, as if she didn’t even want the readers to know fully was she was up to. And it was completely impossible to guess her end-game.
Fast-paced and filled with romance, a little terror, mystery, quite a bit of violence and also some hotness, Coming for You made all the squees possible. I loved it all, and I was thrilled with both of the epilogues, because fucking Ford! Rook and Ronin. Ronnie and Spencer… Need I say more? And also, there will be a book later on about Sasha and someone else. I won’t spoil that for you, though, you’ll have to read the story yourself 😉

I really want to talk to him and it’s killing me to wait. But I need to play this right. I feel like I’m part of a game. I’m a chess piece. I’m a card that’s being held or played. I’m not quite sure.
“I told you I’d come back.” James did say that. But this isn’t James. I can see the difference in his eyes.

Huss manages something not many authors can do, IMO, Sharon. In some of her series, I have been really uneasy about one of her main characters at the beginning, but somehow, as I get to know that character better, and through the changes that character undergoes, I end up loving them anyway.
Great review! I still haven’t picked the first book back up and not sure if I will. I really like the sound of Sasha though, I liked the scene with her we got in Slack. Also I think it’s fun this series connects to the Rook and Ronin series, must be fun to see all those characters again!
They only show up in a short scene, Lola, but yes, it was great to see them again! I know what you mean about the first book, too, I only gave it three stars. I didn’t enjoy James back then, and Harper seemed a little vapid to me. Already in the second book, I loved them both though.
I think that if I had put it down, there would be very little chance that I’d pick it back up again…

I did have a great time with this series, and I’m kind of wondering what to read next now. There are just too many books fighting for my attention on my kindle.
Oh my gosh, does J.A. Huss ever crank out books! I just recently discovered her Social Media series, and now here’s another one. Violence & romance mix well IMO, and good to know that story arc ends on a high note.
Yeah, J.A. Huss is da bomb, Carmel! She always manages to real me in, which is why I will always continue one of her series, even if I find something I don’t like in the first book. It’s like she lives to torture me, and to make me see the fault of my ways 😉
