Feature and Follow #88 – TV Show or Movie?
YAY it’s Friday! Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via e-mail, RSS / Bloglovin’ or Google+; but you can also like my Facebook page, or even follow me on Twitter.
What book / series do you feel would make a better TV show than movie?
Since I mostly stay away from movies based on books I love, I don’t really know… I love that Outlander is a TV show, though, mostly because those books are so long a movie could never, ever do them justice! So I guess my actual answer is any series where the books are over 550 pages should rather be TV shows than movies.
Thanks for stopping by today, have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.
Here here. The long books simply cannot be done justice in something as short as a film.
Exactly. And I’m always frustrated with the cuts 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Nikki 🙂
Yeah it can be hard to think of one! I really couldn’t at first because it was like, what book broken up would make a good show? Then I remember my fave mystery series and kind of took the easy way out!
Here’s my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT day!

Yeah mystery usually works pretty well as TV series 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Jessica.

I haven’t read the Outlander books, nor have I watched more than the first episode (I don’t have Starz, hoping it will come to Netflix). But with long books, I agree that that TV shows are the way to go, because you can get 12-13 hours in a season, versus 2-3 hours in a movie. Once again, I haven’t read the Game of Thrones books, but I have seen those shows and I can’t imagine trying to tell that story in a movie. Great post.
I have read all the Outlander books that have already been released, and I finally was able to watch the first episode of the show last weekend. I loved it! Even if at first I thought: ‘those people are NOT Jamie and Claire…’ I quickly changed my mind, and I loved how close to the books it was 🙂
I haven’t read Game of Thrones, nor seen the show, but I have heard good things about both )
Thanks for stopping by, Melanie.

Yeah, it was hard for me to come up with an answer and I was like you pretty much anything that is two large to put all the good stuff into a two hour movie needs to be a TV show or as I said also a mini-series which to me is a longer movie..lol. I also think long running series would make for good TV shows like (Sookie Stackhouse series) 🙂
I don’t watch much TV shows based on books, nor movies based on books… so I thought about what I’d ideally enjoyD
Thanks for stopping by, Stormi!
I really need to see the Outlander series. Since I am home sick today would be a good day to find the series online!

I hope you’ll feel better, Missie! And Outlander just might help you:)
Thanks for stopping by.
Ideally, readers would be in charge of movie adaptations. I feel like (more like know) that studios are not really looking to stay true to the books, but are looking to make money. *sigh* It is a sad truth. Have a lovely weekend.

I actually don’t think readers would even agree on things, starting with which actors should play what parts 🙂 But in an ideal world, the content should be in agreement with what readers though 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Alicia! Have a wonderful weekend, too.
Fair answer. That way it stays truer to the book.
Yes! And I want what I watch to be as close to the books as possible 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I definitely agree to that 🙂 Hey I am a new GFC follower. Have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by, Kat 🙂
I agree with you, long stories would be better as a TV show rather than a movie. There’s just too much to cover if turned into a movie and then the story lacks as some major points are left out.
Yeah, and as a reader, I think all of the points are important 😀 Thanks for stopping by, Henna.
Hello 🙂 . . I think I agree and that’s why I think a lot of the LONG books series’ should be on TV . . Morganville and House of Night to name two. Although my choice is the Fever series.
Its good to be visiting you again.

Oh yes! Morganville 🙂 I would love to see that on the screen, actually. I love the characters in this series so much.
Oh, and Fever… *sighs* Barrons!!
Thanks for stopping by Kirsty 🙂
I don’t watch many movies or tv shows but I’m curious…are you watching the Outlander series?? This is a series that’s very high on my tbr. 🙂
Yes, I’ve watched the first episode, Brandee, and I was a very happy viewer 😀 As you know, I’m a huge fan of the Outlander series, but those books could never be transformed into a single movie per book – too many pages/characters/timelines etc…
Thanks for stopping by, my dear *BIG HUGS*
Hi! *waves* I’m new to the blog hop! Folloiwing you via Twitter (tlcbooks05), Bloglovin (loric5), and GFC
Thanks for stopping by, Lori 🙂
I agree with you! That would be a great rule of thumb. You know that when a book is that long HUGE parts are gonna be left out even if they make it into more than one movie. Old follower! 🙂
That’s it, exactly. And if I love a book, I want all of its awesomeness on screen 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Jennifer.
Agree totally, but also hate how short books are dragged out into movies ie The Hobbit.

I guess they wanted to make a Hobbit movie because the LotR was such a huge success…
Thanks for stopping by, Kate.
Hi, I’m a new GFC follower and it’s my first time participating in FF. I agree that longer books would be better as TV shows. Some of the movies just feel rushed and they cut so much out.

That’s how I feel, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Tizzy.
I think they should have made Vampire Academy into a TV series. I think it would have worked better in the long run.
