feature and follow 2013 - Parajunkee and Alison Can Read (un)Conventional BookviewsFeature and Follow #37

YAY it’s Friday!

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via Linky or Google+; or you can like my facebook page. If you prefer e-mail or RSS, that’s good as well. Although I am on a selfhosted WordPress blog – I have been able to add GFC back on my blog, you can find out how in my tutorial.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure as far as reading? Is it a genre, or is it a certain type of book?

Any good book will usually do, really! I read books from all genres, and all types. YA, New Adult, Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, Fantasy, Science Fiction – you name it! I do have a little weakness for a good, steamy romance though. But I really need to be in the mood for it. To read and enjoy a good romance, I have to also feel connected to the characters, then I’m pretty much gone from the real world for the time it takes me to read 🙂 At the same time, I almost feel that all reading is kind of a guilty pleasure – I leave everything behind for a few hours, to be immersed in another world, taking part of characters’ lives instead of dealing with the people around me. I have to admit, though, I don’t really feel guilty about it (most of the time, at least!) because I think I deserve my little time-outs.

What about you? What is your guilty pleasure? Is there a single book you like to come back to, or are you an omnivore like me?

Thanks for stopping by my Feature and Follow post today – have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

  1. I understand what you mean! Reading took up so much of my time last year, I read about one book a day until I felt so guilty because I wasn’t doing anything else, so I had to backtrack this year.

Now I don’t feel so guilty whenever I get lost in my books for hours on end 🙂

    Old follower blog hopping 🙂

    • WOW one book per day? That’s a lot of books for sure. It’s good that you don’t feel guilty while reading now – it’s supposed to be a pleasure, and I always love finding new books to read 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Goldie:)

      • Yes, I was on a book reading binge last night and just wanted to read and read and read.

Thank you for letting me know about my Goodreads button! I am going to check out your shelf too. I’m always on the lookout for more historical romance books 😀

  3. Jessica@a GREAT read

Yeah, I wouldn’t say that my paranormal books are a guilty pleasure, although that’s what I said today. I will freely admit to enjoying them!

Although sometimes when the covers get a little too on the romance side–like some of Jeaniene Frost’s–I have to use a hide-a-cover! I feel like “outsiders” wouldn’t understand that it’s not a hot romance novel, but a paranormal read with a hot guy and romance! Big difference! 😉

    Have a GREAT weekend!

    • LOL, another reason why I love my kindle – noone can see what book I’m reading 😀

      Thanks for stopping by Jessica!

  5. HiI am like you and just like a variety of books, but I guess if I am going to really bury myself in something it will be a good old YA romance!

    • Love triangles are not my cup of tea, apart from in very few cases where they actually make sense to me – but romance, yes, please )

Thanks for stopping by to comment and follow Madiha 🙂 Have a fantastic Friday!

    • I agree, we should just enjoy our reading 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Athina – I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend.

  6. Yeah, I can see the all reading thing. I totally rationalize that in order to be a good writer, I need to be a voracious reader, but it’s really an excuse to do that instead of something else. 😀 Great answer. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. Happy Friday!

    • Yeah, sometimes, my family thinks I’m reading stuff for class, but that’s far from always the case 😉

      Have a wonderful weekend Liesel.

    • Thanks Megan 🙂 I have to admit I don’t really feel guilty about reading, though – it’s almost always a pure pleasure for me.

Thanks for stopping by today 🙂 Have a wonderful Weekend.

  7. I so agree, I love most romance genres- but historicals are my favourite!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m an old GFC follower, but i’m following on Networked Blogs too 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by Cerian 🙂 Steamy romance with frilly dresses and long coats yes!!

  9. Awww, I love your take on this Lexxie – you’re right, in a way all reading is a guilty pleasure. Though like you I don’t feel guilty about it much 😉

Oh and I agree about having to be in the right mood for a romance, I’m the same way! After a heavy or intense book sometimes I just want a nice paranormal romance or sexy UF you know? 🙂

Fab answer. Have a great week end ♥

    • Yes, I know exactly what you mean, Micheline. I enjoy reading different genres, but every now and then, a fluffy romance hits just the right spot 🙂

Have a great weekend yourself <3

  10. Your comment about “reading” being your guilty pleasure got me thinking. I think maybe blogging is mine. I feel like I spend a lot of time blogging and reading blogs — it takes away from my reading time (as well as my housework and anything else I’m supposed to be doing!)I didn’t do a post today because I couldn’t think of anything, but I think that’s it. Blogging.

    • But if you have a good time reading bloggs and doing your own blog-posts, don’t you think you deserve that?

Thanks for stopping by Annette 🙂

  11. I guess reading itself could be a guilty pleasure, taking that time away and immersing yourself in whatever story you’re reading. 🙂 And I could probably be considered a reading omnivore – other than sticking to the overarching “YA” genre, I’ll read almost any subgenre that catches my fancy. 😀

Thanks for stopping by my FF! Followed back via Twitter and Bloglovin.

  12. Hi from a new follower

Now that I think carefully, I will never use the “guilty pleasure” phase ever again. Why? because I consider reading as my pleasure, no way it’s guilty =D Anyway thanks for stopping by my blog.

    Happy Reading

    • But hey, reading could also be preparation for class, no? 😛

Thaks for stopping by, Jessica, I hope you’ll have a wonderful weekend.

  13. Love your answer – I guess I’d call myself an omnivore, too.

The only time I feel REALLY guilty about the time I spend reading is when I do it when I’m supposed to be working instead. Oops!

Thanks for visiting! Following you back a bunch of ways – GFC, Google+, and bloglovin.

Stephanie (Go Flash Go) @ Read, Rinse, Repeat

    • LOL, I guess when it’s supposed to be work-time we really shouldn’t be reading, eh?

Thanks for coming over to comment and follow back:)

    • Thanks for stopping by Renee 🙂 I love it, too, when I get so into a book the house could just disappear and I wouldn’t even notice 😀

    • Thanks for coming by, Traci. I agree, escaping the real world via a great book is the best way to make a bad day better!

      Happy Saturday to you ,too.

    • 🙂 thanks for stopping by Ellie. Yeah, if i don’t feel connected to the characters, the story doesn’t really matter to me.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!
