Cassie had been looking out for her sister Jessica what felt like her whole life. So when Jess starts dating a man whom Cassie believes poses a threat to her sister's safety, she steps in, insisting on meeting him. The last thing she expected to happen was that she would fall for the man's cousin--who just so happens to be Cassie's boss! And she certainly wasn't expecting him to reveal the deep, dark secrets he'd been hiding from her for years. Can their love survive, or will Cassie run away from the opportunity in front of her?

What She Didn’t’ Know is the perfect erotic romance parody! I am still howling with laughter, and I am going to have a very hard time choosing which quotes to share for this one – I’d rather just tell you all that if you enjoy erotica, this parody will have you laugh harder than a book has in ages.  I actually have six pages of highlights from only 36 pages of story!

What She Didn’t Know is filled with most of the clichés romances and erotica sometimes abound with, and it made for hilarious reading. Cassie has been in love with her boss, Seth, for a while but never acted on it. When her air-headed sister tells her about her last date, and shows off bite-marks on her neck to prove how great the sex was, Jess is afraid for her. So she agrees to go with Jess to meet this Jordan guy so she can make sure it’s safe for her sister to date this maniac.

Jordan brings his cousin with for the date, and the cousin is none other than Seth! Who turns out to be a shapeshifter. Of course, Cassie only finds out about this after the most mind-blowing sex she’s ever had in her life, and what tips her off is all the blood around Seth’s mouth. I was laughing so hard I had to put my kindle down for a few minutes, and I also had to dry my eyes so I could continue reading What She Didn’t Know. What put Cassie off the most wasn’t that Seth was a shifter, though, it was that he is so much older than her and still looks so young.

I usually really love reading both romance and erotica, but I thoroughly enjoyed how much What She Didn’t Know poked fun at all the contrived things that can happen in those stories! All of the characters are caricatures of those found in romance novels, and the story also proved that it is completely possible to write an extremely short romance and still get the point across loud and clear.

If you need a good laugh, and you aren’t averse to reading sex-scenes, you should get your hands on this little jewel right now. It’s only 36 pages, so it’s a very quick read, but What She Didn’t Know might still stay with you for a while, as you remember some of the dialogs and start to laugh uncontrollably once more 🙂

“You’re free this weekend, right?” she asked distractedly as she sent him a message. God, I hated answering that I was. It didn’t bother me too often, knowing that Jessica had such an active social life while I… didn’t. But when she took tings for granted, assuming I was free, I admit that it grated on me a bit.

That did it. I was lost. Those mounds of quivering, nerve-filled love bags had always been my Achilles heel.

I stood there like a lamb going to the slaughter as he removed my bra next.

They had to stop twice on the way to Cassie’s apartment so Seth could puke, and by the time they got there, he was halfway sober again.

Several minutes later, when she was calm again, he smoothed her hair off her face. It had grown out enough that her bangs were threatening to poke her eyeballs out.

  1. I’m rolling over those quotes, Lexxie! LOL Great choices. 🙂 This sounds like just the thing to read after finishing one of those tear-jerker reads I’ve had lately. I’m so glad this was such a fun and fulfilling read for you. I’m definitely going to give this a whirl. I certainly need some good belly-laughs sometimes.

Enjoy your Thursday, Lexxie! I’ll be dealing with the book/gift buying public for several hours. 🙂 *hugs*

    • LOL, can you believe there are many, many more where those came from, Brandee? You are gong to laugh so hard! And shake your head, too.

I hope the book/gift buying public will be nice 🙂 I have a syntax exam at 12… then I’m back to the library to study for two more exams tomorrow 🙂

      *hugs*

    • Oh you definitely should check it out, Baileys it is very well done, and also a very quick read 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I might give this one a try for the laugh scenes alone. And also, I haven’t read a parody yet so I might this up someday even though I am quite apprehensive about reading eroticas these days. Not being a prude but I just don’t want to stumble into FOSG retellings. Hahahaha.

I am glad that you really had a lot of fun reading this one, Lexxie. And wow, only 36 pages and yet it brought a lot of tears of joy? Amaaazing!

    • Yes, it really handles the parody very well. And it really doesn’t have anything to do with FOSG. If you want to read erotica, but not something like FOSG, check out my reviews, or let me know, and I’ll steer you in the right direction 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Charlotte <3

    • It is so funny it’s amazing, Lindy! And you will be laughing at the way all the tropes are in there in some way 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. You are bursting at the seems to gush about this book. I can just see you barely contained and typing the review. If we all could sit over coffee and talk books you’d be on your feet and we’d be one-clicking this one. I had great fun reading your review, which tells me how much fun I’ll have reading the novella. Loved the love bags quote the most. I hope you have a great weekend, Lexxie. And I hope Brandee does pick this one up after the tearjerkers she’s been reading. I read one tear jerker a month back and I’m good for another year I think.

    • Oh my goodness, Robyn! You are so right, even now, when I think about What She Didn’t Know, I start laughing – it is truly that funny!

And I would definitely be on my feet, getting you, Jaclyn and Brandee to one-click right now!. When are we going to do this for real?

There were so many quotes to choose from. And you should definitely pick it up as well 🙂
