Because Reading is better than real life

COYER December 2015

COYER is back, and this time, it’s back to basics, baby! Read those books that are taking up all the memory on your e-reader, be it an ARC, a freebie, a book that cost you under $5, a library book, or an audio that cost less than $16! Michelle @ Because Reading, Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews, Oh My! and Berls @ Fantasy is More Fun are our incredible hosts once more!

As usual, they have twitter parties and some fun to share with us, and there is also a facebook group for COYER participants. If you’re new to this challenge, believe me, it’s one of the greatest challenges out there! The friendships I’ve made since the first time I participated are great, and I’ve definitely managed to clear out my e-reader in a good way. Even if I’ve also added lots of books to my virtual shelves when participating. All those great-looking books just makes it impossible to resist, you know 🙂

COYER Back to Basics Rules:

Read Your E-Reads! Every book you read must be in an electronic format – meaning E-Book or Audiobook. It’s okay to start a book before December 20th, you must be less than half way for it to count then review it during COYER.

The books must be FREE or NEARLY FREE! This includes library books, review books, tour books, NetGalley, Edelweiss, etc. What’s nearly free? No more than $5 for ebooks and no more than $16 for Audiobooks (or the equivalent in your currency).

Announce your participation! This can be a blog post (or if you don’t have a blog – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Booklikes, Goodreads, Shelfari, etc.) If you want to list books you would like to read, that’s great, but not necessary. The point is to let us know you’re committed to COYER, maybe share some goals, and help the hosts spread the word.

The COYER Challenge will run from December 19th 2015 through March 4th 2016, so that’s quite a bit of time to have fun, read those free and cheap e-books, and get to know some new-to-you bloggers.

I have no idea what to set my goal at – the challenge will run for about three months, so if I say I’ll read 20 books counting for COYER, that’s OK. I may have to adjust up or down as time goes by, though.

      • Ahh, I see. I am like you I would rather set low goals and adjust. That is why I picked a low New Book Reading Challenge goal and then ended up with way more reads that I thought I would…lol. I think I put that I would read only like 15 and I am now on like book 40…lol.

  1. I’m still deciding on a goal! I normally read about 100 for COYER, but I’m more than likely starting a new job next week, so I don’t know what my reading time will look like! I do know that I always try to read only COYER eligible books during these three months.

And I totally agree about friendships! I think this is only challenge where there’s a focus on the community it creates and not just reading as much as possible. 🙂

    • Yeah, you usually read a lot faster than even me, Angie 🙂 Congrats on the new job! That’s great news, even if it’ll eat some of your reading time 🙂
The friendships I’ve formed thanks to COYER are amazing! That’s part of what makes it such a great challenge, I think.

  2. Yay I am so excited for this Coyer and happy to hear you’re participating again this year too! I’ll have my sign-up post live next week. My goal also will be around the 20. I agree that this is one of the best reading challenges out there.

    • I love the COYER challenge, Lark, and I’ve participated in all the challenges since the beginning. I’ve found some really good blogger friends thanks to COYER 🙂 I’m not picking out any titles, if I can avoid it, I never pick titles in advance. I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of gal 😀

  3. I was thinking twelve and then decided not to put a number to the challenge this year. I just want to have fun and not worry about book counts. They tend to stress me out. I think your goal is a good one, especially given all you have going on. I wish you luck with your exams!
