Lexxie and I read CD Reiss’ The Edge series for the Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge. Yep. We finished the series! Yay!! In our chat, we’ve tried to be as vague as possible so as not to spoil anything. 😉

There seemed to be no limit to what Greyson would do for Caden – for love. What I appreciated about this one act is how Reiss used it to create a role reversal of sorts. I loved that Caden had to step into Greyson’s shoes, protect her, fight for her, help her. And he felt inept at times but he continued because he loved her. How did you feel about Greyson’s act and how it affected the dynamics between her and Caden?

I know, right? I was shocked, but not surprised, really. And I really wondered how she could even think everything would be OK for her. And at the same time, I thought to myself that I might have had the same thoughts she had. About being strong mentally, and not having anything in her past that could take her off track. I loved that she did what she did, though – she truly was ready to do anything for love!

I didn’t know a single thing about dissociative disorder before reading this series. I had an “oh wow” moment when I realized how the experiences both Caden and Greyson had paralleled the Id, Ego, and Super-ego. Then I looked up dissociative disorder and those symptoms are indicative of it. Reiss did an incredible job of weaving that bit of science into the story. She created a psychological thriller using psychology. Ha! Did you know anything about dissociative disorder going in ? What did you think about how Reiss incorporated it? The mind is terribly fascinating, don’t you think?

I didn’t know anything about it either, but it sounds scary. And I feel so bad for people who actually have to live with something like that. Both Greyson and Caden really managed to function in some ways, which I guess makes it even more difficult at times. I thought the thriller part of the story worked very well, and everything was believable, too.

I couldn’t believe Ronin’s actions. He redeemed himself a little in my eyes but only a little because his actions were self-serving too. How did you feel about him in the end?

Ugh. Ronin. Not sure he redeemed himself in my eyes, even if he did try. At the very end, I have to admit I still didn’t trust him. He appeared to be ready to do anything in order to get ahead. And being ‘important’ seemed to be a motive as well. His goal was to continue to know things other people didn’t know – and I think there are still some well-kept secrets when it comes to him.

I was rather shocked at what all was revealed by Greyson’s “splits”. I liked getting this background information about her. Her gentle, care-giving nature was definitely explained. How did you feel about all we learned about her?

OMG! I did wonder if there was something dark in her past, but I couldn’t have guessed that! And how utterly Greyson had kept that away from her conscious mind was nothing short of incredible. It was both shocking and very nice to get to know her past – and also how her family figured into all of it.

That ending. I didn’t see that coming. Did you? I liked that it demonstrated Caden’s quick thinking and decision making skills which made sense given his profession. I also liked how Reiss had us – or at least me – hanging the whole time. What did you think of the ending?

I definitely thought that was going to completely explode! I mean – really? And I can’t say anything else than that – because I don’t want to spoil this amazing series for anyone. But that was such a shock!

And the epilogue? I definitely appreciated it. 🙂

I enjoyed the epilogue – even if I’m not a huge fan of those. It brought something to the story, and it was nice to see what happened after all the action calmed down a bit.

Over the Edge was an exciting way to wrap up Caden and Greyson’s story. I enjoyed every minute! And we finished a series in a month, wifey!

We totally did it, wifey! It was really good, and I’m so happy I finally jumped in to a Reiss series. And of course, it was even better because I did it with you 🙂 <3
