Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #68
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
This week, my Hungry Hearts quote is from Rees Brennan’s recent Tell the Wind and Fire, where the world is split in two – between light and dark magic, cities are literally cut off in two parts to keep the dark magic users away from the light. The story is pretty dark, but there is, thankfully, some hope and light moments as well.
My Hungry Hearts quote:
I had been to functions in the Plaza Hotel before, with the real Ethan. I had walked under the stained-glass ceiling of the Palm Court, which seemed to make the whole room glow as if the rich had some private sun nearby reserved exclusively for their use. I had eaten caviar and drunk champagne in the Champagne Bar, its red drapes as rich and full as the skirts of women from times past, and its chandeliers like glittering spotlights for each one of us.
Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
I love the imagery in your quote. I’ll have to check out that book, Lexxie!
It’s really good, Sophia Rose, and quite different from other magic / dystopian settings I’ve read.
I’m not into caviar, a glass of Champagne however . . . Loved the quote, though!
I actually like caviar, too, Silvia. But let’s cheer with Champagne, that’s a good start to the weekend, right? 😉
I’ve never had caviar, but I do love Champagne! The room sounds lovely….but I have a worried feeling as I read it. Something bad will happen soon….
I’ve only had ‘real’ Russian caviar once, but there are different kinds of fish-eggs that I really enjoy 🙂 And of course, I love Champagne as well. Something bad is definitely right around the corner of this quote, so you’re right, Laurel-Rain!
Excellent caviar and champagne is on my bucket list 😉
Now that you’ve tried both virtually, you’ll just have to find a way to try them in real life 😉
Wow, she did a beautiful job of painting the setting there, Lexxie. I can see it all in my mind. 🙂 I’ll link up when i get home. Hope you’re having a wonderful day! *BIG HUGS*
Yes, I agree, the setting is painted for us, and that’s part of why I enjoyed Tell the Wind and Fire so much, Brandee *BIG HUGS*

I don’t like bubblies, gives me… gas. I’ll stick to vodka instead 😀
LOL Braine 😀 Champagne does sometimes make me burp – which makes me laugh very hard, drinking Champagne and burping isn’t very ladylike 😉
The quote makes that place sound beautiful! But I think I’ll pass on both the caviar and the champagne 😛
That’s OK, Kristen – there’s no obligation to indulge in food or drink, but still fun to chat about the quotes 😉
