Review: If You Only Knew – Kristan Higgins

Review: If You Only Knew – Kristan Higgins

If You Only Knew is a cute read which still tackles some serious and heavy subjects – I loved the strong friendship between the sisters. If You Only Knew is a contemporary romance that I would definitely tag as realistic fiction, as it follows two sisters – Jenny and Rachel – through some of the upheavals of adult life. How to deal with things when it’s impossible to run to mom and dad, how to stay strong when all one wants to do is to curl into a small ball and cry. How to trust again after that trust has been completely torn apart by someone who should have known better. How to deal with secrets – both those within […]

Review: Don’t Tempt Me – Lori Foster

Review: Don’t Tempt Me – Lori Foster

Don’t Tempt Me is all about new beginnings, courage, friendship and family. Sometimes, you grow up with a great family surrounding you, other times, you just have to make your own family – surround yourself by people you love and who love you back. The latter was the case for Honor in Don’t Tempt Me. Because she moved to stay closer to her dying grand-dad, Honor really didn’t have much tame for herself. Between her job, going to the nursery home in the middle of the night and trying to do some work on her house, she was a very busy lady. She still managed to get closer to her neighbors little by little, though, in big part thanks to […]

Review: Fighting Dirty – Lori Foster

Review: Fighting Dirty – Lori Foster

Fighting Dirty is as close to perfection as a story can be! Armie and Rissy *sighs* Fighting Dirty is among my most anticipated books for 2016, and Lori Foster outdid herself! I have been longing for Armie and Merissa’s story ever since I met them in the first Ultimate book. The tension between the two of them kept increasing and in their own book, it was palpable. I loved getting to now both of them better, especially how they reacted when they were under pressure. Merissa is a very strong heroine, she was truly put through a lot in Fighting Dirty, but she took most of it in stride, and that made her very dear to me. There is even […]

Review: Too Hot to Handle – Victoria Dahl

Review: Too Hot to Handle – Victoria Dahl

Too Hot to Handle is a complex story of finding oneself, realizing all of one’s potentials and possibly finding love along the way as well. I briefly got to meet Merry in Close Enough to Touch, and I was instantly curious about her. A strong woman, but one who has been put down more often than not, Merry has changed jobs many times, but she is set on making it in Jackson. Both because her best friend Grace lives there now, and because she’s gotten the dream-job in restoring a ghost town just outside of Jackson. Too Hot to Handle shows a lot of the changes Merry goes through, and some of those changes are in part thanks to her […]

Review and Giveaway : Anything For You – Kristan Higgins

Review and Giveaway : Anything For You – Kristan Higgins

Nostalgic, achingly tender and sweet – Anything for You showed the extremely slow development of Jess and Connor’s relationship. All the characters we already know and love in Blue Heron were present as well. I have to admit I felt really bad for Connor with the beginning of Anything For You! He had prepared a very romantic evening for his on-again off-again girlfriend Jess, complete with a diamond ring to ask her to marry him – only to have her think he was adorable, but of course, the answer was no. As the story moved forward, though, with flash-backs to their childhoods, teenage years and early adult-hood, it became very clear that Jess was right. Of course the answer was […]

Review: Close Enough to Touch – Victoria Dahl

Review: Close Enough to Touch – Victoria Dahl

I loved Close Enough to Touch, both because I found the characters to be so compelling, and because the story was very touching! My Close Enough to Touch review: Grace is one of those prickly characters who prefers being angry rather than show anyone that she is vulnerable and maybe a bit fragile. And I fell in love with her from the beginning, because she was a fighter all the way. She fought against having friends, loving other people, Cole, her sexy cowboy neighbor, and just life in general. And while my life has been nothing like hers, I could relate to her, and I just wanted her to find a way to at least be content. Close Enough to […]

Review: Taking the Heat – Victoria Dahl

Review: Taking the Heat – Victoria Dahl

When I chatted with Victoria at RT15, she told me that her Taking the Heat story featured a 26 year-old virgin, and I slightly winced at that… however, she totally pulled it off! Veronica was an amazing heroine, and Gabe of the hot oral-sex made me fluttery, and all hot and bothered just by reading about him! My Taking the Heat review: Holy fuckballs (yeah, this is totally stolen from Victoria Dahl’s newsletter!!) Gabe and Veronica made my kindle fume, and Victoria’s words made me miss my husband so much!! Like, I would have totally jumped him (several times) during that read. Scorching hot, with amazing characters, Taking the Heat was the perfect ending to the Jackson: Girls Night Out series. […]

Review: The Devil Takes a Bride – Julia London

Review: The Devil Takes a Bride – Julia London

The Devil Takes a Bride is a fun and hot story about a strong-willed woman and a seemingly ice-cold man who find themselves married to avoid scandal… My The Devil Takes a Bride review: The Devil Takes a Bride was a really nice surprise – both because it’s the second book in a series, and that really didn’t matter in order to understand the story, the plot and the characters, and also because it was quite different from what I expected when I started reading. Grace seemed to be a very sensible society girl, even if she did the best she could to flirt a little bit, dance a lot, but not get any proposals. Grace had met Geoffrey only […]

Review: Tough Love – Lori Foster

Review: Tough Love – Lori Foster

Hot, fun and with different kind of mystery playing out in the background, Tough Love really worked for me!! My Tough Love review: It’s no secret that I’m a huge Lori Foster fan, and that her Ultimate series is one I love very much. Tough Love is yet another fantastic installment in this series, where the hard, strong MMA fighters find their match in the woman they eventually learn to love. Stubborn characters, sizzling hot chemistry, strong friendships and family ties that won’t break no matter what, this story just had it all. Vanity entered the series when Yvette moved back, and several of the fighters noticed her from the get-go. She only ever wanted on man, though, and that […]

Review: Holding Strong – Lori Foster

Review: Holding Strong – Lori Foster

Lori Foster has done it again! Holding Strong is a beautiful contemporary romance with tough fighters, women who can hold their own, friendship, loyalty, smexiness and lots of suspense! My Holding Strong review: I fell in love with both Denver and Cherry, strong characters with difficult pasts, they were a great match in every way. Strong, stubborn, loyal, they both had some qualities that made me want to be friends with them. While Denver was was a little brooding sometimes, and quite the fighter, Cherry was more lighthearted, always laughing and dancing when they were out with friends. There was danger looming in the not so far distance, though, and Cherry wanted her past to be her past, something for […]
