Review: Lifeblood – Gena Showalter

Lifeblood didn’t fully live up to my expectations, as Ten didn’t seem the same, strong, independent girl she was in Firstlife. In the first book, Ten, while not being exactly decisive, did manage to be quite independent once she escaped the institution she was locked up in. I had quite high hopes for Lifeblood, seeing Ten deal with her afterlife, living in a realm different from the boy she had spent a lot of time with – one who was protecting her and fighting alongside her until the end. What got to me was that for a lot of the time, Ten was mooning over Killian rather than getting to know Troika and the Troikans she was supposed to spend […]

Review: Last Kiss Goodnight – Gena Showalter

Review: Last Kiss Goodnight – Gena Showalter

Last Kiss Goodnight is very melancholy in some ways, and it also truly angered me in other ways! Well written, with multi-faceted characters and an overall plot that was masterfully executed. I’m not sure why I haven’t read Last Kiss Goodnight until now – it’s been on my kindle more or less since it was released, and I was a huge fan of the Alien Huntress series, and I knew that this is a sort of spin-off series set in the same universe with some characters showing up. And wow, I was completely transported to another place, where aliens and humans live together, but not necessarily in harmony. I was both elated by the romance and the pure heart some […]

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Blood Red Kiss gives readers glimpses into three super-series by three rockstar authors in the paranormal romance universe, and I utterly enjoyed myself reading these! I had already red The Warlord Wants Forever – the first story in Blood Red Kiss. Years ago, when I first got back to reading, and I think it was one of my very first paranormal romance reads. I enjoyed it back then, but I didn’t love it. Now, though, I did love it, and that may be partly because Immortals After Dark is one of my favorite series now. It’s a great introduction to the series, and I especially think that the Book of Lore at the beginning is a very nice touch. I […]

Review: Firstlife – Gena Showalter

Review: Firstlife – Gena Showalter

Firstlife is set in a unique world with very strong mythology and factions fighting each other for power over the realms, not only in the first life, but in the ever life as well. In the very complex universe of Firstlife, there is a lot of darkness, and Ten’s story starts with horror. She’s a prisoner in an asylum, where her parents have sent her in order to make her sign her everlife with Myriad. She, however, wants to make her own choice, and she still isn’t sure if Myriad or Troika will be the best place to spend the rest of her existence. War between the two realms doesn’t make her decision any easier, and even in the asylum, […]

Review: Temptation in Shadows – Gena Showalter

*I received a free ARC of Temptation in Shadows from St. Martin’s Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* My Temptation in Shadows Review: Temptation in Shadows is a fast-paced novella about Gabrielle, who has been surgically enhanced. Now, she can hack into any computer in her vicinity, only using her own brain and nothing else. After being kidnapped, and waking up in a dark room, she realizes the new bouncer at the club where she works is there in the dark with her. Together, they manage to flee, but not before Sean notices that someone he knows is lying in a pool of blood in the secluded house they had been brought to. Very quickly, Gabrielle realizes […]
