Review: This Heart of Mine – Brenda Novak

Review: This Heart of Mine – Brenda Novak

This Heart of Mine took me completely by surprise! A beautiful second chance at love story, set in one of my favorite fictional towns is just filled with good stuff even when there are bad things happening, too. My This Heart of Mine review: When I started This Heart of Mine, I was prepared not only to not enjoy the story, but to not enjoy the heroine either. And I’m so happy I was wrong! Phoenix hasn’t only had a tough childhood, her adult life hasn’t exactly been a piece of cake, either. In prison for 17 years, never having met her son before she was finally liberated, she decided to brave it all and go back to the town […]

Review: Riding Steele – Opal Carew

Review: Riding Steele – Opal Carew

Riding Steele is a fast and hard ride, with gritty but loveable characters, a despicable ex-boyfriend and the open road ahead. My Riding Steele review: Both Laurie and Steele are interesting characters to follow, and Riding Steele had a very hard edge to it. Both because Laurie was trying to get away from her abusive boyfriend, Donovan, and because one of Steele’s rider buddies saved her, only to kidnap her in order to keep her safe. Needless to say, Laurie thinks she’s gone from one bad situation to a worse one – being held by a group of bikers in the middle of the woods is not her idea of being saved. The chemistry between Laurie and Steele is scorching […]

Review: What a Lady Requires – Ashlyn MacNamara

Review: What a Lady Requires – Ashlyn MacNamara

What a Lady Requires is a great ending to the Eton Boys Trilogy, and I especially enjoyed Emma with her knowledge for numbers, even if she was not so good at mingling in society. My What a Lady Requires review: While I thought What a Lady Requires is a good ending to the Eton Boys Trilogy, it didn’t sweep me off my feet like it could have. The pacing was very slow, and while I enjoyed both Emma and Rowan, they were a little more reserved than the characters in the first two stories. I loved that Emma had such a head for business, though, and that she was able to share this with her husband, even if he was […]

Review: Clutch – J.A. Huss

Review: Clutch – J.A. Huss

Junco is brilliant! And Clutch is so well done! Aliens, clones, war, fights, doubts, lies, amazing characters, it’s all there! My Clutch review: Clutch is really all I could wish for in a sci-fi novel. The world is slowly shown to me, Junco is a great character, even if both she and I were quite confused at the beginning of the story. Tiers intrigued me form the beginning, and I really enjoyed the fact that he truly let Junco have choices – it’s not like that really happened very often where she was concerned. Between being raised both as a killer and an acrobat on a horse, it took a while for me to reconcile both parts of her personality. […]

Blogtour Review: The Hurricane – R.J. Prescott

Blogtour Review: The Hurricane – R.J. Prescott

Welcome to my stop on The Hurricane blogtour! The tour is hosted by Xpresso Booktours, and you can find the schedule by clicking the banner above. Today, I am going to share with you my The Hurricane review, a giveaway and my favorite quotes 🙂 My The Hurricane Review When I read the summary for The Hurricane, I thought I was going to get a fluffy read, with some boxing fights and lots of romance between a bad boy and a shy girl, and it was that, however, there is much more to this story than that. Emily has no friends at the beginning of the story, she keeps her head down, works, and goes to class – that’s it. […]

Review: The Fallen Star – Jessica Sorensen

Review: The Fallen Star – Jessica Sorensen

Very, very slow-moving story, the characters are not very well developed, and the writing is full of repetitions. The Fallen Star could have told the same story exactly in only 150 pages, and then be the introduction to the series, rather than a full-length novel where nothing much happened in the first 70-75%. Not sure I’ll continue with this one. My The Fallen Star review: The premise for The Fallen Star is so good, unfortunately, I didn’t think the story delivered. Gemma was an annoying heroine, even when taking into account the fact that she has lived most of her life without having any feelings at all. Her swooning over Alex made me roll my eyes more than once, and […]

Review: Double Play – Jill Shalvis

Review: Double Play – Jill Shalvis

Double Play has delicious romance, anticipation and longing, but it also has some mystery, lots of sports and a dash of intrigue. My Double Play review: From the start, I really enjoyed both Pace and Holly, they were passionate about their work, and never let anything get in the way of doing the job they were paid to do… until they met each other and the attraction between them was strong, if somewhat reluctant. Holly is following The Heat through several games of the baseball season, and her speciality is ferreting out secrets. She can see why Pace has been on the covers of both sports-magazines and others in the past, besides being very good looking, he also has charm […]

Review: I Was Here – Gayle Forman

Review: I Was Here – Gayle Forman

Gayle Forman knows exactly how to wring my heart until it is almost empty and dry, before helping it to beat once more and let me have a good cry so that I can carry on reading. I Was Here is a raw, tough story dealing with a very difficult subject in a strong and strangely beautiful way. My I Was Here review: Cody had a lot of trouble dealing with her best friend’s suicide, which is something I found very realistic. Having to deal with all the questions about why, how, the guilt and if she could have done anything differently that might have helped Meg not take that final, fatal step is definitely not easy. I Was Here […]

Review: Dirty London – Kelley York

Review: Dirty London – Kelley York

Dirty London is a different kind of coming of age story, because London needs to find herself again, deal with those who might not accept her, and fight to get her confidence back. My Dirty London review: I can’t even tell you how much I loved Dirty London! It is well written, and London is a great character to follow through her journey to accept herself, to find herself and to make sure her last year of high-school won’t be wasted trying to never be noticed. Written in first person present tense, with some added information through London’s blog posts that she uses as her diary, I felt like I got to know her very well, and I couldn’t help […]

Review: Dating a Cougar – Donna McDonald

Review: Dating a Cougar – Donna McDonald

My Dating a Cougar review: Dating a Cougar is a quick read filled with both romance and some unlikely things. MacDonald is very good at describing a mature woman’s wants and needs. I had a problem with this book though, and that was that as much as I really liked Alexa, I didn’t like Casey! He was acting very selfishly and did not take ‘no’ for an answer. I always get uncomfortable when a woman says ‘no’ and the man does not respect her answer. Even if Alexa was turned on by Casey, I think he should have listened to her and let her decide when their relationship should be taken to the next level. He also confused me because […]
