Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #247

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

The Sunday Post #197 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

On Wednesday, I had a long information session at Uni about my grad courses, and I saw so many people I haven’t seen in ages – I think it’s going to be great. Also on Wednesday, when I got home, Mr. Lex informed me that he was taking Hercules to the vet because he wasn’t looking so good. Hercules loves swallowing stones. Normally, he pukes them back out – but not this time. We spent several hours at the vet, taking X-rays and ultrasound making sure there was no need for surgery. Hercules is fine now! The stones has left his body by natural means, and he’s his usual goofy self 🙂

For the long weekend, Mr. Lex and I took the dogs with us to Spain, and I have to say I love the late summer here. There isn’t much people, the weather and the water is still nice, and it’s relaxing to spend a few days at the beach with good books.

This is how we travel… the dogs have their safety belts on, and they sleep for most of the way.

Here are the pups near the beach – it was raining a bit when we arrived, but they still wanted to go for a swim 🙂

  1. Aww glad to hear Hercules was okay. My cats eat some odd things too- you never know with them! Glad he’s alright. 🙂 And sounds like you had a pretty good long weekend! Hope this weekend is nice as well.

    • Hercules has made a game out of this… when he’s out in our backyard, if we don’t play with him enough to his liking, he’ll find a small rock, and show us… then he’ll run around until he swallows it *sighs*
Thanks, Greg, I hope you’r weekend has been nice, too!

  2. Glad to hear that Hercules is okay! It’s funny that you mention he swallows stones because one of our dogs tried to eat a rock once. We’re not sure why. Maybe he thought it was a treat? But he ended up chipping one of his teeth! It’s pretty much why my late grandfather called his rockhead! Or maybe it was blockhead! He might have went back and forth! Lol.

Nice new reads! Some new to me ones except for 99 Lies which I still need to read! So behind! It seemed last year I received ARCs of the first books in duologies and since I’m never one to say no to an ARC of a book I sooo want to read, I find myself regretting it anyway since now I’ll be going back to the second part much later than planned…ie: months after the release! Lol.

    Happy Reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I had 100 hours since last year, Jessica, and when I finally read it, I just had to read 99 Lies as well. I’m the same way with ARCs… I only request the ones I really want to read, but then, suddenly I get distracted by other shiny books 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I’ve had my eye on that series. Good to know you loved book one so much that you got them all.
So nice that your meeting went well and you got a good feeling being back for your grad work Oh man, Hercules! Poor guy.

Love that you got a quick trip in to enjoy the last of the Spanish summer.

    Have a good week!

    • I am at book seven now, Sophia… think I have a problem? LOL You should definitely check it out. It’s dark and gritty, but so, so good!
Yeah, Hercules *sighs* I really hope he’ll stop with the stones and rocks. It was pretty nerve-wrecking seeing him so out of it, and even more so thinking he might need surgery to get rid of them.
Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week yourself!

  4. Whoa – those books could visit me just for their covers!

I’m glad Hercules is alright. Gina used to eat my daughter’s perler beads – you know the ones you put in a pattern and iron? The poop was so colorful then.

Enjoy your weekend and the excitement of fall and new classes. Anne – Books of My Heart

  5. Oh no poor Hercules! Happy to hear he’s alright and back to normal though! Also, those covers look steamy as heck, esp Tyrant and Lawless. Might have to give them a glance over

    • Interesting hair? I was more attracted to his tattoos 😉
Apparently, it’s not unusual – the vet said they have to do surgery on at least a couple of dogs every week, and some are repeat offenders. I just hope it won’t ever come to that with Hercules, Kristen.

  6. Oh my god… he swallows STONES?? Holy lord. Why would you do that xD poor baby… I’m glad it all ended well. It’s kind of scary, eating stones o.o I would have been very worried.
Glad to hear your Spanish weekend was good 🙂 I was back from vacation this week and just worked, worked, worked xD

    • I wish I understood, Evelina! He’s such a dorky dog! And he actually taunts us as well – showing us he’s found a stone in the yard, inviting us to chase him. And then, tilting his head back to swallow. Usually, he pukes them out, but not this time. And I don’t know what to do about it. The vet said it’s rather usual – not for all dogs, but that quite a few do this. And since he’s also pretty good at using his paws, he’ll always be able to find some.
Sorry you had so much work! This weekend is the last of quiet time I’ll have for a while, so it was really nice to be able to get away.

  7. Oh dear, glad to here Hercules is okay! Of all the things to enjoy eating… Stones! lol
I have King on my kindle waiting to be read so I appreciate the warning I may need to binge buy/read the others upon finishing! 🙂
    Have a good week.

  8. I need to read Preppy’s books still but OMG I binge read that entire series I loved it so much. Totally messes with your head. Preppy is my favorite character in that book.
I am glad Hercules is feeling better and he really needs to stop eating rocks. lol I am glad you have a nice weekend in Spain that sounds so amazing.

Have a great week, Lexxie, Happy Reading! ox

  9. How scary! I’m glad to hear that Hercules is feeling better and that they passed naturally.
I had no clue that Erik was on Netgalley. I love her books but I will admit a lot of books have slid past my radar recently. I will have to see if it’s still available. I hope you enjoy all your new books, Lexxi!

  10. ooh yay for some Sawyer Bennett. I added some new books to my shelves this week too love finding books at thrift stores for super cheap. 🙂 Glad to hear that Hercules is feeling better.

  11. I’m glad your pup is okay. Dogs are idiots sometimes. It’s great that the dogs sleep in the car. My dog is huge and insists on standing up on the seat, so I can’t see out the back window. I just see her giant furry self. Enjoy your new books and have a good week.

I’m so glad Hercules is okay! It’s so scary when a fur baby is sick because they can’t communicate with us. I love seeing that you have seatbelts for your dogs! I keep Buffy in a seatbelt in the car too and I don’t get why more people don’t – you love them, don’t you want them safe?

    Spain is like #1 on my list of places to visit. I might just have to crash your vacation sometime lol! Miss you! {{HUGS}}

  13. Those T.M. Fraizier covers are something else!

While I was walking my dogs this week there’s a lot of *evidence* left from a dog somewhere in our neighborhood that looks like he ate a dozen toys lol It’s a trail of purple and bright green down the road. I’m glad yours was able to pass the stone. that’s always stressful.

  14. Oh gosh, I’m so glad Hercules is okay, and that you had a nice weekend away in Spain. It sounds lovely!! Yay for a five star review for Hazel and Josh. That sounds like a good one!
