Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #202
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
It was a good week for ARCs, and I’m pretty excited about all of these :
Thank you, St. Martin’s Griffin, Kensington, Ballantine, and NetGalley!
Thank you, Harper Voyager, Avon, Soho Press, and Edelweiss!
When I went to RT in Atlanta in May, I met Ginger Scott, and she was such a great person to chat books with! Little by little, I’m completing my collection with her books, because her stories pack a huge punch!
I met Sarina Bowen at RT, too, and I hadn’t read any of her books. I’m almost up to date with hers, though, and I’ll be seeing her at a book festival in Cannes in three weeks, so I want to have lots to chat about 🙂
Karina Halle is coming to Cannes, too. I still have several of her books to read, but this one is rather new, and it just called out to me while I was browsing books 🙂
The Sunday Post #152 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
I easily survived my first week of teaching, and most of my students are really nice! It has been good to be back in the rhythm, see colleagues, prepare classes and all that. The only thing that’s been difficult is getting up so early in the morning again.
I’ve been suffering a bit due to a double tendinitis of my achilles tendons 🙁 I try to be very careful with what kind of shoes I wear, and when I’m at home, I stay off my feet as much as possible.
I also got my plane tickets to go pick up Hercules the first weekend in October. I’m so excited! Hopefully, Freddy will be happy with another dog joining our family.

If you haven’t checked out Geybie’s Recommend Me posts yet, you should! She asks other bloggers for recommendations for books to read in various genres. And there are plenty to choose from – I discovered some that I hadn’t heard of in each genre she’s covered so far.
Kristen @ Metaphors & Moonlight shares how she sometimes feels like invading privacy through what she’s reading.
Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
oo Hot and Badgered… I can’t wait for that one.
Glad you made it through the first week of school. My boy started kindergarten and we made it through the first week too. It was great. He loves it and comes home happy. Can’t wait to hear more about Hercules and see pictures.
I’m glad your boy enjoys kindergarten and comes home happy! It’s so important to help kids love school and leaning 🙂 My students are older, as I teach high school, but I think some of them still need to know that they are safe at school.
I’m looking forward to your review of Merry & Bright. I just love Debbie Macomber! I hope Freddy falls into the role of big brother smoothly. I can’t wait to see pics!
I love Debbie Macomber too, Ashley. Her stories are always very optimistic, even if there is trouble for the characters.
I really hope Freddy will be a good big brother, too. And I can’t wait to have a tiny puppy again 🙂
Ugh, I’m dealing with tendonitis in one ankle right now, I couldn’t even imagine having both ankles affected! Take care of yourself!
I’ve been wanting to try Sarina Bowen’s books… I love the covers!
I hope you’ll feel better, Michelle! Actually, I think I feel the pain a bit less, because it affects both my ankles… not sure. But I do need to be careful.
Sarina Bowen is really awesome! I hope you’ll get a chance to read one of her books soon.
I heard really great things about Wild Card by Karina Halle! That last picture of Freddy is super cute! I’m sure he’ll do great with another dog. 😀
I have loved all of the Karina Halle books I’ve read so far, so I’m excited about Wild Card 🙂

thanks for the recommendations @_@ I have been in a slump lately, I cannot find books that I enjoy =d
maybe it’s the hormones
I hope you’ll find something you like, Ailyn. If you enjoy New Adult Romance, you should definitely pick up both Ginger Scott and Sarina Bowen 🙂
Twitter: ailynk
i haven’t read them before! might look it up thanks
You’re welcome 🙂
Nice! Glad to hear the school year is starting off well! Sorry to hear about your Achilles’ tendons troubles. I know I have feet issues, as well as my mom, I have very flat feet with hardly any arch to them. I tend to wear flip flops around the house, were shoe inserts for comfort and support and buy comfort shoes as well. Not sure if those issues apply to Achilles’ tendons though, so not sure if those fixes would help.
At least you got some nice new reads to enjoy while you stay off your feet! That’s always a good excuse to curl up with a good book or two or three! Lol! Hope you feel better soon and enjoy the new reads!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I can’t even wear flip flops anymore 🙁 Nor my Converse… But good shoes, rest and icepacks really do help.
I got some amazing books, I am eager to read them all 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Jessica.
I didn’t know there was a new Chronicles of Nick book out. Also like the cover for Markswoman. Great haul.
Grace @ Books of Love
I love Nick! And when I received this ARC, I realized I haven’t read the last book yet, so that will be my next read.
Looks like an amazing haul of books this week. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Katie 🙂
Oh I’m glad you got to meet an author you enjoy and have so much fun with them that is the best! Looks like you got a good collection as well so score!
I went a bit overboard with books this week… not that it’s all that bigger than usual haha. Thanks for stopping by Eve.
Congrats on surviving your first week of school! I hope Freddy loves the new puppy. Enjoy your new books!
Thanks AJ! I hope Freddy will enjoy the new puppy once he arrives, too. I have a feeling he will, though. He’s such a cuddler.
Intensity by Sherrilyn Kenyon looks SO yummy. I love her books, so I’ll check it out. Jill Shalvis’s Christmas book looks SO good too. OMG, I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas. Time does fly, especially when you blog. Hehe.. Looking forward to your reviews. ?❤️
Glad to hear about your first week of teaching. I get it, it’s hard especially after a long break. So sorry to hear about your Achilles’ tendon. Yes, stay off your feet as long as you can. It works for me.
Yay, thanks for the shoutout. You’ve been such a great friend and support. I hope you enjoy your books. Have a wonderful week, my friend. ?❤️?
I know, I can’t wait to read more about Nick! I just realized I have book #7 to read before this one, though. I happy-danced when I was accepted for Shalvis’ book! I love her.
You’re very welcome, Geybie. I went a little crazy on your newest post today – for a change 😉 Have a great weekend!
I think I’m ready for Macomber’s Christmas books…and I love the look of Rainbirds.
I’m glad you had a great first week, and I can definitely relate to those challenging early mornings. After 30 years of it, I still woke up early every day in my retirement…for years.
Enjoy! Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I’m ready for Christmas romances, too, Laurel-Rain 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Twitter: bmreviewsohmy
Great haul! I love Debbie Macomer’s Christmas books! Love those Freddy pics and I hope he does good with being a big brother as my dogs never liked getting a new buddy to play with…lol.
I love her Christmas books, too, Stormi!
I really hope Freddy will be happy with a buddy… and that we will help him not be jealous 😉
I got the Merry and Bright one, too. Oh, new Nick book!
I love Sarina Bowen’s books, but I’ll have to check out the others. Neat that you’ll get to see them at the festival.
I’m glad your first week back to school went well, but sorry to hear about your tendonitis. Ahhh, Freddy looks cute in his bed.
I am excited about all these new books… I’ve already read the Sarina Bowens 😉
Look at all those delicious books! Markswoman in particular caught my eye, but it wasn’t the only one. I hope you enjoy them, Lexxie! I am glad your week back in school got off to a good start. I already really like my daughter’s new teacher. I’m hoping to volunteer in my daughter’s class this year, but since I am limited to only one day a week I can do it, we’ll have to see if the teacher can use me. I think it’d be fun though.
I hope Freddy and Hercules will hit it off well! Sometimes dogs get along right away and other times it takes a while for them to get used to each other. It’ll be great for them to have each other, I think.
Have a great week! Take care.
We don’t have parents volunteering here, but I hope you’ll be able to do so once a week when you’re free to do so!
I hope Freddy and Hercules will hit it off, too. I think they will, Freddy is really cute with other dachshunds.
Aww Freddy’s gonna have a pal! Good for him. And glad your first week went well. Hard to believe schgool is back already, but I guess if it’s going to be it might as well go good, right? Hope you have a nice weekend. 🙂
I can’t wait to get the new puppy. We’re all pretty excited about it.
Congrats on the new dog!!! I hope your foot gets better soon.
Thanks Ronyell 🙂
School starts back on Monday for us (I’m in the UK), glad you survived the first week back! It’s always the worst.
I love Ginger Scott books. I haven’t read A Boy Like You / A Girl Like Me but I have loved all her others.
It’s different everywhere, I guess 🙂 I was happy to start the school year, it was nice meeting colleagues and my new students.
I haven’t read A Boy Like You / A Girl Like Me yet, either, bud I did finish the Harper Boys series already 🙂
Twitter: avalinahsbooks
Wow, that’s a mega-haul! Congrats 🙂 and I hope your feet get better! Shoes can be tough. I loooove being barefoot. Even in the winter when it’s way too cold.
Freddie and his ‘twin’ are super cute BTW 😀 can’t wait to see pics of the actual new puppy! 🙂
I love being barefoot, too, and now I just can’t 🙁 But I’ll wear shoes if that can get rid of the inflamattion!
The pics of the actual new puppy will be here in four-five weeks.
Glad to hear your first week of teaching went well. And you got some amazing books and a lot of them too. I hope that your feet feel better. 🙂 Happy reading.
Jenea’s Book Obsession’s Sunday Post
It was a really good week, Jeana 🙂 And I’m all ready for next week, too. Thanks for stopping by.
Nice to hear your first week back went well. And sorry about your tendons. I’m thinking I have arthritis as my ankles hurt a lot when I first stand up and walk. I had to give up on wearing flip flops when walking any long distances and I love my flip flops:( So excited about Hercules. Freddy has no idea how much he’s going to miss those quiet little naps. LOL
My Sunday Post
Maybe it’s your achilles tendon, too. At first, it was just my feet and ankles that hurt when I woke up in the morning.
LOL I hope Hercules will just nap with him 🙂 Puppies sleep quite a bit, right? At least Freddy did when he was younger.
Oooh I am so adding that Debbie Macomber Christmas novel to my TBR! I’m a sucker for Christmas stories.
I hope that you enjoy your new reads, and that your feet don’t give you too much trouble 🙁
Debbie Macomber’s Christmas stories are the best!
Sounds like a good week, reading and otherwise. What age do you teach? I imagine some age groups are more challenging than others x
I teach in high school, so my students are between 15 and 18 this year. I love working with teens 🙂
Oh teaching is tough on your feet anyway I can’t imagine how painful it would be with tendonitis! Hopefully that heals quickly!
Have you read How to deal with Gravity by Ginger Scott???? Love it! Her books are great (and so is she!)
Can’t wait to see pics of Hercules and Freddy!
Yeah it is. I’ll be fine, though… Mondays are long, but my other days are fine.
I haven’t read How to Deal with Gravity yet, but it’s on my list 🙂 Her books are amazing!
Looks like you’ve got some great new books Lexxie. I love that there are so many Christmas books coming up again. Sigh.. I looooove Christmas.
Good to hear your first week back at teaching went good. 😉
Have a great week and happy reading.
I did get some great books, I can’t wait to read them, Maureen.
I love Christmas, too. Holiday romances are so sweet.
NOOOOOOOOO!!! You can’t have pain in your achilles tendons. You’re a teacher 🙁 My hubs got that from running and he had to treat it like plantar fasciitis. It sucked!!! I’m so sorry (hugs).
“Hercules! Hercules! Hercules!” – sorry, couldn’t resist, horrible movie! How awesome, though, I hadn’t heard but that’s going to be so fun for Freddy!! Congrats 🙂
Have fun in France when you go!!!! Take lots of pics!!!
It does kind of suck. But it’s starting to get better, Kristin. I do my best to be careful with what kind of shoes I wear, plus I walk around in the classroom a little less than usual.
LOL Hercules 😀 I think having a tiny dog named Hercules is so funny.
I will take lots of pics in France, and share on FB and IG 😉
Great haul this week!! Markswoman has been on my radar so I’m interested to see what you think of that one! Wicked Reckless looks good too! And yay pupper!! He looks so big! Have a great week 😀
Here’s my Weekly Recap!
Markswoman intrigued me from when I first saw the cover, I can’t wait to get started. I have already read Wicked Reckless, it was very good 🙂
I love Freddy. The pics are so adorable. Markswoman looks awesome and I’m gonna have to consider checking that one out. Hope you have a wonderful week.
I agree, Freddy is totally adorable 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Barb.
Sorry to hear about your tendonitis. I have it in my wrist. I know how much tendonitis can hurt. I hope you get better soon.
You had a great haul of books this week. Have fun reading them all!
My Sunday Post
It must be much worse in your wrist! At least, I can sit down and put my feet up every now and then… it’s more difficult to not use one of your hands, right?
Dogs do love having a companion. Baby and Cera took a while to warm up to one another, and now they’re thick as thieves…except when Cera does something trouble-worthy, like her revenge pee/poop in the guest bedroom. I hope you’re not in much pain with that heel. I sometimes have problems with mine, I’m not sure what it is. It makes me kinda hobble around.
Hercules will still be a tiny puppy when he arrives, so I hope that will make Freddy feel like he has to protect him 🙂
I’m not in too much pain, apart from at the end of the day on Mondays, after teaching for 9 hours.
Thanks for stopping by Charlie.

Wait, shoes HELP? How? :0 magic…
Yeah, I can’t wear shoes that have completely flat soles. So good sneakers with a heel sole really does help a lot. That keeps my tendon a bit more relaxed, I guess 🙂
I am glad to hear that you had a good first week of teaching. Hopefully you have a great school year. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with tendonitis. That sounds painful! Enjoy all of your new books and have a great week, Lexxie!
It is very nice that the year started out so well. I look forward to everything I’m going to do with my students 🙂
I’m glad you’ve made such a good start to the academic year – it makes all the difference. So sorry to hear of your tendonitis – it sounds horribly painful and I hope you make a swift recovery. Have a great week, Lexxie:)
It does make a difference to start out the year well. I’m not in too much pain, actually, which is good! Hopefully, it will heal quickly.
You got some lovely new books! Markswoman is high on my tbr. I hope you’ll enjoy all of these! :))
Here’s my Stacking the Shelves.
xx Yasmine @ Swissbookworm
It looks so good, right? I hope we’ll both enjoy it Yasmine!
I love your haul of new books and I can’t believe the holidays are coming up. I need to start looking for holiday themed books. It’s good to hear your first week of school went well. I hope you feel better. I also have to be careful about the kind of shoes I wear so I know how you feel. Freddie is adorable and I’m sure he’ll be a great big brother. Hope you have a great week!
Holiday season is just around the corner… it’s so strange, I feel like we just started using 2017 when writing down the date…
Have a great week yourself, Kathy.
Oh, I love Geybie’s recommendation posts! I find so many fun titles.
Aw, I love Freddy photos. 🙂
I’m glad that teaching is going well, though waking up early is NEVER fun.
-Lauren

I agree, there are so many great books mentioned in those posts 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Lauren.
Twitter: avalinahsbooks
Oh! Now I understand how that works 🙂 I also like shoes with a slight heel, so I know what you mean. When I walk on my bare feet though, I just have this habit of tiptoeing 😀
Ha! I love being barefoot, and now I even wear sneakers inside the house 🙁
I love your wrap up posts. So glad to hear the first week of teaching went so well, and hopefully it will continue to go that way! And hopefully your feet-issue will get better soon 🙁
