Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Tapping the Billionaire ~ Max Monroe

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Tapping the Billionaire ~ Max Monroe

I’d never read Max Monroe before but I owned a copy of Tapping the Billionaire. When Berls recommended this series for this challenge because Max Monroe are signing at Book Bonanza AND it also ticked the box for Bookish Bounty, I decided it was a win-win situation. Lucky for me, it was a good read for the most part. The setup is that Georgia works at Kline’s company but they’ve never looked at each other as anything other than boss-employee. However, one evening Kline finds Georgia being adorable at the exact moment he’s blocking his mom’s attempt at setting him up on a date. He tells his mom he has a date and then sets out to get Georgia to […]

OctobeRec Fest Review #1 ~ Betwixt ~ Darynda Jones

OctobeRec Fest Review #1 ~ Betwixt ~ Darynda Jones

Here’s my first review for OctobeRec Fest. Thanks to Robyn for the recommendation and gift of a great book! 😉 And the perfect beer pairing? Samuel Adams’ Jack-O! Omigosh do I love this beer! Pumpkin with the perfect amount of pumpkin spice. If you like pumpkin AND beer, give this one a try. And pick up Betwixt too! 🙂 Betwixt is an excellent introduction to DJones’ Betwixt & Between series. I was immediately drawn into the story as the characters, especially Defiance (is there a better name for a witch?!?), are so engaging. Then there’s the setting – an old home in Salem, Massachusetts. It all adds up to a witchy good time! Highlights: Characters Dephne (Defiance) is a character […]

#OctobeRec Fest Review #5 ~ One True Loves ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid

#OctobeRec Fest Review #5 ~ One True Loves ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid

Welcome to OctobeRec Fest. I started this as a nod to Oktoberfest (books & beer…heaven, am I right?!?) so I’ll spending the month of October reading a few of the many, many books I’ve procured thanks to you, my blogging friends. Title: One True Loves Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid Recommended by: Tanya @Girl Plus Books One True Loves was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid book and now I’m clamoring for all her backlist. Holy wow! This was in incredibly emotional story and TJReid delivered ALL the feels. I can’t thank Tanya enough for the recommendation. 🙂 TJReid did a phenomenal job in weaving together the threads of Emma’s, Jesse’s, and Sam’s stories. She deftly conveyed the uncertainties of the teen years, […]

Review ~ The Darkest Link ~ Scarlett Cole

Review ~ The Darkest Link ~ Scarlett Cole

With The Darkest Link, SCole delivered a gripping story with characters I was truly curious about and did it in a way that tied all the stories together beautifully. It was a wonderful way to end the Second Circle Tattoos series. Lia, a tattoo artist at Second Circle Tattoos as well as good friend to Trent, Harlow, Cujo, Drea, Pixie, and Dred, is a character I’ve always admired and wanted to know more about. She’s seemingly very comfortable in her own skin and that’s a trait I not only admire but also envy. I also think it’s beautiful. She dresses like a 40’s pinup girl and wears her American Traditional tattoos with pride. Plus, she’s such a generous person! Gah! […]

Review ~ The Purest Hook ~ Scarlett Cole

Review ~ The Purest Hook ~ Scarlett Cole

Wow! The Purest Hook kept me up past my bedtime – not necessarily a good thing since I was in Europe 😉 but I couldn’t put it down. I’d been excited to get Pixie and Dred’s story and SCole did NOT disappoint! Pixie is this tiny waif of a girl – thus her nickname – who works at Second Circle Tattoos. Trent and Cujo literally found her on their doorstep and took her in. She’s become the little sister neither had and they’d do anything for her. Even warn away potential suitors. However, Pixie is stronger than she looks. She’s been through some tough stuff and came out of the other side. She’s not unscathed but she has pluck. And […]

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge Review ~ 44 Chapters About 4 Men ~ BB Easton #SeriesinaMonth

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge Review ~ 44 Chapters About 4 Men ~ BB Easton #SeriesinaMonth

Can I read a series in a month? Well, the answer is “No”. In my defense, May has been one heckuva crazy month for me. I did manage to read 1.5 books in BB Easton’s 44 Chapters series but I only completed the first one. Sigh. Hopefully I’ll do better next time! 😉   44 Chapters About 4 Men was a wonderful introduction to the style and humor of Easton. Seriously, she says this is a memoir and yet it feels like fiction. But as the saying goes, “truth is stranger than fiction” and in this case, that saying applies. The book details the four “loves” of Easton’s life and how she uses the first 3 in an attempt to […]

Review ~ The Fractured Heart ~ Scarlett Cole

Review ~ The Fractured Heart ~ Scarlett Cole

The Fractured Heart marked my long-awaited return to the Second Circle Tattoos series. Thankfully SCole was appearing at RARE Paris which gave me the push I needed to finish this amazing series. Highlights: Characters The Fractured Heart revolved around Cujo – co-owner of Second Circle Tattoos – and Drea. These two! I couldn’t wait for their story and to get to know them better. Their verbal sparring is so much fun and makes it seem as though they’re oil and water. However, they’re more like gas & match – and watching them work towards combustion was awesome. Getting better acquainted with them, seeing all they’ve been through and continue to endure, was heartbreaking. It also explained a lot about them. Their […]

Review: Under Fire – Scarlett Cole

Review: Under Fire – Scarlett Cole

Under Fire pushed all the right buttons, romance, characters and character development, pace, action, suspense, plot and story. I loved every single thing about this story! Cole has definitely outdone herself with Under Fire! I was mesmerized from start to finish, and the action started basically on the first page. All buttons to make this a favorite read were ticked, and I almost didn’t manage to sleep because I’d rather spend my time with Louisa, Six and the guys from Eagle Security. It was a fast-paced story, with a lot of danger, but Louisa’s logical mind as well as Six’s strength and ability to get a good overview kept things on the right side of safe most of the time. […]

#Review: Where Have All the Scoundrels Gone – Donna Cummings

#Review: Where Have All the Scoundrels Gone – Donna Cummings

Where Have All the Scoundrels Gone was a delightful tale of three cousins, a scheming Dowager aunt, and three young women who thought they had given up on love. Sprinkled with Cummings humor, the characters moved the story forward with romance and wooing. Where Have All the Scoundrels gone was such a fun read, the three cousins all thought they were smarter than their dowager aunt, who had assembled twenty young debutantes for them to woo and marry as soon as possible. They weren’t having it, though, and rather went for three slightly older ladies instead. The seduction was well done, and I felt wooed as well, because these cousins could truly bring it! In true Cummings style, Where Have […]

Review: Breathe – Kristen Ashley

Review: Breathe – Kristen Ashley

Breathe was amazing! I think it’s the Colorado Mountain story that played with my feels the most! I cried. I laughed. And it was righteous! Not only did I stay up until after 3 am to finish Breathe, I had to message Brandee while I was reading because there was so much going on, and I knew she’d know straight away what I was talking about! Good thing we live in different time zones – at least this once it made me happy. For someone who usually rolls her eyes at ‘older’ virgins in her romance novels, I fell hard and quick for Faye! And she may have seemed very shy and reserved on the outside, but on the inside, […]
