#OctobeRec Fest Review #6 ~ Knotted ~ Pam Godwin

#OctobeRec Fest Review #6 ~ Knotted ~ Pam Godwin

Thanks for joining me for OctobeRec Fest. I really enjoyed spending the month of October reading a few of the many, many books I’ve procured thanks to you, my blogger/reader friends. I aimed for 9 and only completed 6 but I’m proud of my progress. 😉 And you’ll see this feature again next year! Title: Knotted Author: Pam Godwin Recommended by: Michelle Hennessy (a reader I met at RARE Paris) Knotted was intense and emotional. It made for an introduction to PGodwin’s writing that I won’t soon forget. Despite there being a few things in the story that stretched suspension of disbelief, I felt PGodwin created a story with gritty elements and engaging characters and wove something beautiful. Conor and Jake […]

#OctobeRec Fest Review #5 ~ One True Loves ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid

#OctobeRec Fest Review #5 ~ One True Loves ~ Taylor Jenkins Reid

Welcome to OctobeRec Fest. I started this as a nod to Oktoberfest (books & beer…heaven, am I right?!?) so I’ll spending the month of October reading a few of the many, many books I’ve procured thanks to you, my blogging friends. Title: One True Loves Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid Recommended by: Tanya @Girl Plus Books One True Loves was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid book and now I’m clamoring for all her backlist. Holy wow! This was in incredibly emotional story and TJReid delivered ALL the feels. I can’t thank Tanya enough for the recommendation. 🙂 TJReid did a phenomenal job in weaving together the threads of Emma’s, Jesse’s, and Sam’s stories. She deftly conveyed the uncertainties of the teen years, […]

Review: The Kingmaker – Kennedy Ryan

Review: The Kingmaker – Kennedy Ryan

The Kingmaker is a masterpiece of a novel! There is a social issue that is important, there is romance, and there is some very strong characters you should all want to meet. I don’t even know where to start with my review for The Kingmaker. Lennix is one of the most amazing female characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading. She is strong, she fights for what she believes is right, she is smart, she is humble, self confident. And she’s also such a great friend, she includes people and yeah, she’s my kind of heroine for sure! Maxim is a fantastic character as well. He has principles, and he keeps them – even when in some ways […]

ARC Review ~ A Beautiful Risk ~ Colette Dixon

ARC Review ~ A Beautiful Risk ~ Colette Dixon

A Beautiful Risk is a well-written, compelling story with engaging characters! This was a great introduction to CDixon and I look forward to continuing the Love at Lincolnfield series. When we first meet Passi, she’s spending the day at a spa attempting to keep her mind off a terribly tragic anniversary. We also meet Magnus there since they happened to bump into each other…literally. These two have an immediate chemistry, share a little flirtation, and a hot kiss but neither expect to see one another again. However, the following Monday, Passi learns Magnus is the new Risk Manager at her hospital. The relationship between these two is full of starts and stutters. They’ve both been burned by love and Passi […]

ARC Review ~ Butterfly in Frost ~ Sylvia Day #Giveaway

ARC Review ~ Butterfly in Frost ~ Sylvia Day #Giveaway

I was thrilled to see SDay was releasing something new and Butterfly in Frost didn’t disappoint. It was riveting and emotional and surprising as well. SDay demonstrated her writing prowess, solidifying her spot as one of my favorite authors. When we meet Teagan we can see she’s suffering but we’re not privy to all the details. She’s made a fresh start in Seattle, has new friends and new routines. However, when she meets Garrett, he turns her newly ordered world on its head and it seems he’s exactly what Teagan needed. Garrett is also struggling emotionally…and professionally. Meeting Teagan injects the hope and passion his life seemed to be lacking. As we witness Garrett and Teagan get acquainted and see […]

Audio Review ~ Due Diligence ~ Anna Zabo

Audio Review ~ Due Diligence ~ Anna Zabo

Due Diligence was a relevant and engaging listen. Although it’s the thrid in the series, it works as standalone. However, characters from the previous books are present and are interesting enough that I want to know their stories. I did have a few issues but overall my introduction to AZabo and IToma was a good one! What Worked: Characters I liked Fazil and Todd. They’d been involved in high school but broke up when Fazil left for college. Their reunion was unexpected but they definitely still had chemistry. I liked how AZabo demonstrated how their upbringings and their families impacted their personalities. And I admired how she conveyed their flaws and the ways in which they caused problems for themselves […]

Review: Say You Still Love Me – K.A. Tucker

Review: Say You Still Love Me – K.A. Tucker

Say You Still Love Me is a strong love story, where the past plays a very important role in the present – for all the characters. I’m a huge fan of second chance romances, and in Say You Still Love Me, Kyle and Piper worked on getting theirs. I loved a lot of things about this story, but I found the beginning to be a bit slow, and the ending to be a bit ‘easy’. That said, the story worked well for me, and I found the flashbacks to bring a lot to the present. The characters in Say You Still Love Me were relatable, and I wanted them to work things out. Especially as the flashes from the past […]

Review ~ The Highwayman ~ Kerrigan Byrne

Review ~ The Highwayman ~ Kerrigan Byrne

The Highwayman was so good. Soooo good. That is all.   You didn’t believe I’d leave it at that, did you? 😉 KByrne – a new-to-me author – bowled me over with this gripping, intense, and emotional story. I’ll endeavor to do it justice. Farah met Dougan MacKenzie in an orphanage when they were both young. They became fast friends thanks to Farah’s compassionate heart. One night, something terrible happens and Farah and Dougan are separated. But not before Dougan performs a hand-fasting. Years later…maybe 15 years?…Farah his living as a widow – Farah MacKenzie – and working as a clerk at Scotland Yard. She’s lived a chaste life despite the liberties she’d be afforded as a widow but she’s […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Jesse ~ JA Huss

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Jesse ~ JA Huss

Man! I don’t know how Huss does it, wifey! Jesse seemed like it was going to be a good, old-fashioned, contemporary romance with some revenge humor and second-chances rolled in. Then it became something else. Something more. And I absolutely enjoyed the ride! I loved all of these things, too, wifey! I just found it to be a twist between romcom and romantic suspense, and I adored it. So funny. Right off the bat, I fell for Jesse. Yes, he’s a bit arrogant but you could see his vulnerability underneath that facade. That endeared him to me. Your first impressions? I did, too. The way he wanted to not be seen as the ‘asshole’ brother, and not understanding why he […]

Review: Twice in a Blue Moon – Christina Lauren

Review: Twice in a Blue Moon – Christina Lauren

Twice in a Blue Moon was fantastic – one of the best second chance romances I have read, and it was so filled with chemistry and tenderness I felt full while reading. What happens when you’re the hidden (not secret) child of Hollywood’s most coveted actor and you go on vacation to London and meet a cute boy? Well, lots of things happen, actually, and Tate broke the one rule her mom and grandma had instilled in her since they moved away from her father. And that had devastating consequences for all of them – but mostly for Tate. Twice in a Blue Moon is a beautifully written, character-driven story, and I enjoyed how Christina Lauren first let us got […]
