Audio Review ~ Lothaire ~ Kresley Cole

Audio Review ~ Lothaire ~ Kresley Cole

Lothaire is a character I’ve long looked forward to learning more about. He’s the Enemy of Old to be sure but I’ve found him to be quite a lot of fun, too. I was excited to get his book. Even more so to see what kind of woman would bring him to his knees. Ellie – Elizabeth to Lothaire – was a spitfire of a girl. Growing up in the mountains of Appalachia and enduring what the mines did to her family only sharpened the girl she was. She was whip-smart, witty, tenacious, resourceful, and determined. That she’d been inhabited by a demoness and ended up on death row after the occupier went on a killing spree was nothing Ellie […]

Audio Review ~ Untouchable ~ Kresley Cole

Audio Review ~ Untouchable ~ Kresley Cole

Untouchable revolved around characters – Murdoch and Daniela – that I didn’t know much about. I certainly felt for them considering the hurdles their relationship presented. While I enjoyed the story, it wasn’t my favorite in the series. Highlights Characters Murdoch Wroth, previously known for his playboy ways, had a kink thrown into his sex life when he became a vampire. When he’s blooded by his bride, Daniela, his situation doesn’t improve. That’s because Daniela, being a Valkyrie/Icere fae, can’t be touched. Murdoch thinks this won’t be a problem – he’ll simply return to his playboy ways. But as he and Daniela spend time together he realizes that once you find your bride, no one else will do. My issue […]

Audio Review ~ Kiss of a Demon King ~ Kresley Cole

Audio Review ~ Kiss of a Demon King ~ Kresley Cole

It’d been awhile since I visited the Immortals After Dark series and I’m so happy I kicked off my 2020 audio year with Kiss of a Demon King. While Kiss of a Demon King wasn’t as action-packed as other installments, I did enjoy seeing Rydstrom find and fight for his fated female. And Sabine was an absolute delight! Much of their repartee was quite comedic. Visiting with others from the Lore was a bonus. Highlights: Characters Rydstrom has spent centuries waiting for his fated one as well as the return of his kingdom. He’s know for being steady and good, so being straddled with Sabine as his female understandably gives him pause. Sabine is the Queen of Illusions, a sorceri allied with […]

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Blood Red Kiss gives readers glimpses into three super-series by three rockstar authors in the paranormal romance universe, and I utterly enjoyed myself reading these! I had already red The Warlord Wants Forever – the first story in Blood Red Kiss. Years ago, when I first got back to reading, and I think it was one of my very first paranormal romance reads. I enjoyed it back then, but I didn’t love it. Now, though, I did love it, and that may be partly because Immortals After Dark is one of my favorite series now. It’s a great introduction to the series, and I especially think that the Book of Lore at the beginning is a very nice touch. I […]

Review: Sweet Ruin – Kresley Cole

Review: Sweet Ruin – Kresley Cole

Sweet Ruin continues the saga of the immortals who mostly haunt New Orleans, and I have to say that Rune and Josie’s story was both touching and sweet, with lots of action, and even more nostalgia. I’m not sure why I have kept Sweet Ruin hidden on my kindle for so long! But I’m very happy to have read it now – so that I’ll be ready to delve into Immortals After Dark #17 in January next year… This is a series with an extremely well done mythology, and I am always in awe when I read a new installment. The stories are also character-driven, with a solid story and an overall plot that spans over several books in the […]

Review: Dark Skye – Kresley Cole

Review: Dark Skye – Kresley Cole

*I received a free ARC of Dark Skye from Gallery Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* WOW Dark Skye is an awesome installment in the Immortals After Dark series! And can I just say character growth? My Dark Skye review: Thronos and Leanthe have such a complicated relationship it’s a wonder they actually even talked to each other at all. Dark Skye seemingly threw them together at a very inopportune time, but of course, soothsayer Nyx had something to do with that, and she showed up more than once to my utter enchantment. Thronos having searched for Leanthe for centuries made me really feel for him, even if he also acted like an ass for a long […]

Review: The Professional Part 2 (The Gamemaker #0.2) – Kresley Cole

*I received a free ARC of The Professional Part 2 from Pocket Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* The Professional Part 2 picks up at the exact same moment that part 1 stopped. It’s extremely hot! Of course, that’s only in part because Sevastyan and Natalie are in a sauna… From the very start, it is clear that these two are meant to be together, but danger is lurking. Sevastyan is just as secretive in The Professional Part 2 as he was before, and Natalie is starting to become a little frustrated with him. He’s also very high-handed, thinking Natalie should dance to his every little tune, but she won’t have that – and drama ensues.  The […]

Review: The Professional: Part One (The Game Maker #1) – Kresley Cole

*I received a free ARC of The Professional from Pocket Star via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* The Professional is a scorching hot short story about Natalie, who has been searching for her biological parents with the help of a private investigator in Russia for the past few years, without letting her adoptive mother know about it at all. A PhD student with several jobs to make ends meet, Natalie is a pretty serious girl, until that one night in a bar, where a dangerous-looking man comes in and sits down not far from her. For the first time ever, her manalyzer isn’t working the way it usually does, and she walks up to him to say hello. […]
