I've always been a good girl. I grew up in a small town, dated my high school sweetheart all the way through college, and married him. I even waited until our wedding night for my first time. Yeah, that kind of good girl. Finding my husband in bed with the church secretary came as quite a shock, needless to say. Finding out he'd slept with just about every female in town was an even bigger shock.
Discovering those dirty little secrets is what sent me on a journey that I will never forget.
Holy hotness! A Sexy Journey is exactly that – very sexy, enticing and hot.
My A Sexy Journey review:
Delilah has the shock of her life when she comes back home shortly after leaving for work, only to find her husband in bed with the pastor’s wife… A Sexy Journey certainly did start with a bang, as she took of her shoes and threw them at the love-birds before packing all her things and leaving to find her sister to tell her what had happened. Only to receive yet another shock when she realized her sister had an affair with Harry as well. In all her turmoil, she still managed to get her account closed out, and with twenty grand in her purse took the first bus out of dodge to go to Chicago.
Well written, a little tentative at first because Delilah had always been a good girl, A Sexy Journey was exactly that! After a complete make-over in Chicago, some new friends to help her out and a few kisses shared with a stranger, she got herself a new passport, served her cheating husband with divorce papers and left for Rome.
While exploring the tourist attractions in Rome, she met an Italian man, Luca, and A Sexy Journey became even more sexy as they spent a day together, then a whole night. Even in this short story, I got to know Delilah as well as I could – especially seeing as she didn’t really know herself very well. And while there was a little problem with sex and no condom in Rome, I will definitely read more books in Delilah’s Diary series. That no-condom problem caused me to give three stars instead of four, too, so it was too bad the safe sex took the back-seat; because Delilah really is a smart heroine.
If you’re looking for a hot read that has some self-discovery both on the personal and the sexual level, A Sexy Journey is the way to go.
Some of my favorite A Sexy Journey quotes:
He wasn’t that good looking, I didn’t think. But then, ours was a small town, with a negligible supply of virile, halfway handsome men. Harry was tall, a little overweight now, but still carrying the natural bulk of a powerful man.
I took the envelopes and put them at the bottom of my purse, underneath the erotica novel I was secretly reading and my cell phone and my wallet.
“Delilah? Get a makeover. Change how you look. go wild, girl. Who you used to be is gone. Be someone new.”
Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
I’m intrigued, Lexxie. And I think I might just have this one on my kindle already. 😉 I’m rather fond of stories where heroines take control of their lives – as Delilah seems to. And it sounds fun! I’m glad you enjoyed this one, my dear.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. **BIG HUGS**
Delilah certainly takes control of her life, Brandee – AND she travels to Italy 🙂 If you have it, you should try to find the time to read it for COYER 🙂 *BIG HUGS*
ROME + smart heroine? How can one say no? It would be hard to ;D Maybe too sex-centered for my liking, but I like how light and fun it sounds! I hope you enjoyed your Holidays! (If you celebrated! 🙂 )
I don’t know if it’s too sex-centered or not for you, Lola, I really enjoyed it, apart from the no condom thing… I always get upset when characters think they can’t catch a disease that way…
My Christmas and New Year’s were both amazing, we had a nice family Christmas, and New Year’s Eve with some friends 🙂
I’m now very confused…your review makes me want to read the book but I’m very wary of Jascinda Wilder books after hating Big Girls Do It Better :-/
Oh no Laura… I have Big Girls Do It Better!! If you don’t like JW’s writing, I’m thinking you won’t enjoy this one either.
