Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #24
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
Today, I’m sharing a quote from Tempt the Stars (Cassie Palmer #6) by Karen Chance. The quote is after a lot of fighting and action has been going on, and even while in hell, or the Shadowlands rather, Cassie is too hungry to wait…
My Hungry Hearts quote:
“Are you really going to eat here?* Caleb demanded, fifteen minutes later.
“Damned straight,” I said, my mouth watering. The restaurant wasn’t a cart, although it was about the size of one. It was a small rectangle wedged between the courthouse and a bunch of shops. […]
Hot damn, I thought in wonder, I was actually going to get dinner. Maybe. I glanced around furtively, waiting for the hammer to drop. For someone or something to prevent me from getting any food. And it wasn’t like there weren’t plenty of candidates. […]
“They have Phillies?” I said, in something approaching awe. “This street belongs to the potion sellers, and this cart has a fair amount of human traffic,” he told me, taking the greasy bundle of awesomeness. “But elsewhere… you have to be careful. Not everything here is safe for human consumption.”
Don’t forget to link up! Thanks for stopping by today, have a terrific Thursday and happy reading.
I just love the mix of food in books, even though usually it just makes me really hungry hehe it always adds a more personal touch to a story.
I agree, Renee, and somehow, I feel like I know a character better if I know what he or she enjoys to eat 😀
I was just over on Paper Fury reading her fun post about food in books. This sounds like a fun meme. I love when food or eating is mentioned in books. It helps to connect and makes it more genuine. We all have to eat. LOL
Cait’s post was golden, Laura 🙂 I agree that it helps make the characters more realistic when I read about what they’re eating or drinking, and that’s always a good thing. Sometimes, it also makes me very, very hungry 😉
Great quote, Lexxie. Although reading it makes me realize just how behind I am in this series – I don’t know who Caleb is! Sorry I didn’t get a quote up this week. I’ll have one next week though. **BIG HUGS**
I had to think long and hard about some of the characters present here as well, Brandee, because it had been SO long since I read the last book in the series 🙂 *BIG HUGS*
