Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn @ A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title and author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.
Teaser Tuesday #51
This week, my teaser is from Charlaine Harris’ Shakespeare’s Landlord (Lily Bard #1) that I’ve finally gotten to start reading, thanks to the #HW2015 challenge;)
TO SEE OR NOT TO SEE — To Lily Bard, the sleepy town of Shakespeare, Arkansas, was the perfect place to hide from the violence that nearly destroyed her life years before. Today Lily is strong, confident in the martial arts she studies, her looks disguised by her closely cropped hair and baggy clothes. Working as a housecleaner, Lily comes and goes without anyone noticing — until she witnesses a murder.
What Lily Bard saw on that dark night has stripped away her, anonymity and earned her the unwanted attention of a homicide detective and a suspicious community. And with her intense, married, karate instructor showing a passionate interest of his own, Lily’s plan of a private, well-ordered life is coming unhinged. The killer of an unlamented landlord is lurking close by. And while Lily knows the dirt on her neighbors’ dust, drawers, and private live , must admit to a secret of her own: that in the shadow of a brutal murder, she is coming alive again…
My Teaser
I bit my lower lip to keep from making noise. I struggled silently with an almost overwhelming urge to jump up and run. After several deep breaths, I won. I steeled myself to do what I had to do, but I couldn’t face doing it in the dark.
What’s your teaser today? Please share – it’s not as if a few more books on my TBR mountain will make that big of a difference 😉

You know, I still haven’t managed to read ANY Charlaine Harris. I own the first Sookie Stackhouse, but True Blood has me leas than excited to read it and, as a result, I’m just having a hard time making myself try put any of her books. And thus sounds really good, I have a feeling I’m missing out.
Oh my, Berls!! The show and the novels are so different when it comes to Sookie! I didn’t really enjoy True Blood all that much (apart from drooling after my favorite viking)… But I enjoyed the books quite a bit. I am going to look at the covers and find one of the scavenger hunt clues to go with the first Sookie Stackhouse story for you 😉
I haven’t read this one, but I’m a Charlaine Harris fan!
I’ve had this series on my kindle ever since I started reading the Sookie series, Beth. And Lily Bard is a character I’m looking forward to learning more about 🙂
Good teaser, wonder what that person has to do!
Heh… there are many things she’s doing throughout the story that would have made me want to just run away 😉
I haven’t read this author yet either but that teaser sounds good.
Yeah, it was a good story, with solid characters, Sharon 🙂
I haven’t read anything from Charlaine Harris even though her books are everywhere in a bookstore I frequent. I don’t even know why I don’t read her works but they sound good.
I guess you have so many books already on your shelves you’re just being picky, Rin 😉
Looks intense… and I like that the town is named Shakespeare. 🙂 Looks like a good read!
I really liked that the town is named Shakespeare, too, Greg, and that the main character’s surname is Bard 😀
OOh nice! I never read this series by Charlaine. Besides Southern Vampires, I read her Harper Connelly series which was great. Still need to read her new series too! Eep! So behind on all the reads! Great teaser!!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I quite enjoyed her Harper Connelly series too, but it became a little weird later on… This one is quite good, I look forward to continuing it, Jessica.
I would read on!
Mine this week is from a cozy mystery, and also a bonus teaser:

I did, and I loved it!
I’ll be reading this one soon! I’ve had it on my TBR for awhile since I enjoy Harris’ Aurora Teagarden a while back and the Sookie ones more recently. Finally it’s up soon – as the result of the #20booksofsummer Challenge.
My TT this week is at http://wp.me/pZnGI-nr
Oh I haven’t read Aurora Teagarden yet, Dagny, but now I want that as well.
I enjoyed this series. But then, I’ve enjoyed all of Charlaine Harris’s series. My adult teaser comes from Clockwork Secrets by Dru Pagliassotti. Happy reading!
An adult teaser today? *quickly clicks link*
I haven’t read anything by this author; somehow the Sookie books didn’t grab me. But this one sounds so intriguing…and the character of Lily Bard sounds like someone I could enjoy. Thanks for sharing.
Here’s mine: “THE CRY”
Lily Bard is a good character, Laurel-Rain, and the cozy mystery is well done.
I really liked this book when I read it!
I really liked it, too 🙂
Adding to my GR list… sounds fun!
It really was fun, Freda!
Your Teaser makes me wonder what difficult thing she has to do! This sounds like a book I’d enjoy.
My Tuesday post features The Chair.
I think you’d enjoy it too, Sandra! I certainly did.
I have got to read this. Several friends say they loved it and I like her other series.

Oh you should, Laura, it was good!
Sounds really intense and suspenseful! I’ll have to check this book out! Love the Bard!
Here’s my Teaser!
Wendy Lohr
🙂 I love the Bard too, Wendy, and there were some funny winks in his direction!
