The Golden Braid cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The Golden Braid (Fary Tales #6) by Melanie Dickerson

The one who needs rescuing isn’t always the one in the tower.
Rapunzel can throw a knife better than any man around. And her skills as an artist rival those of any artist she’s met. But for a woman in medieval times, the one skill she most desires is the hardest one to obtain: the ability to read.
After yet another young man asks for Rapunzel’s hand in marriage, Mother decides they need to move once again, but this time to a larger city. Rapunzel’s heart soars—surely there she can fulfill her dream. But Mother won’t let her close to a man. She claims that no man can be trusted.
After being rescued by a knight on the road to the city, and in turn rescuing him farther down the road, Rapunzel’s opportunity arrives at last. This knight, Sir Gerek, agrees to educate Rapunzel in order to pay back his debt. She just has to put up with his arrogant nature and single-minded focus on riches and prestige.
But this Rapunzel story is unlike any other and the mystery that she uncovers will change everything—except her happily ever after.

Nirvana cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Nirvana (Nirvana series #1) by J. R. Stewart

When the real world is emptied of all that you love, how can you keep yourself from dependence on the virtual?

Larissa Kenders lives in a world where the real and the virtual intermingle daily. After the supposed death of her soulmate, Andrew, Larissa is able to find solace by escaping to Nirvana, a virtual world where anything is possible – even visits with Andrew. Although Larissa is told that these meetings are not real, she cannot shake her suspicion that Andrew is indeed alive. When she begins an investigation of Hexagon, the very institution that she has been taught to trust, Larissa uncovers much more than she ever expected and places herself in serious danger. Her biggest challenge, however, remains determining what is real – and what is virtual.

Texas Kissing cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Texas Kissing by Helena Newbury

Lily – To escape my uncle–one of New York’s most dangerous mob bosses–I had to create a whole new life. I became an expert forger, fled to Texas and never let anyone get close to me again. I didn’t figure on having my life saved by a huge, muscled cowboy. He’s arrogant, stubborn and he’s the local stud…so why is he interested in a curvy girl like me? And if he annoys me so much…why can’t I stop fantasizing about him?

Bull – As soon as I saw her, I knew I had to have her. Lily had curves that didn’t quit and too many goddamn secrets. Well, I was going to uncover every inch of her…

Archangel's Enigma audiocover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Archangel’s Enigma (Guild Hunter #8) by Nalini Singh, narrated by Justine Eyre

Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.
Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows…and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

Sideswiped cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsSideswiped (The Peri Reed Chronicles #0.5) by Kim Harrison

Don’t miss this thrilling first look into the elite world of Peri Reed, government agency operative extraordinaire, and catch more of her character in The Drafter, the first book in the all-new suspense trilogy from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison, out September 1.

Every hero, even the accidental ones, have a beginning.

Silas’s radical theory that drafters are not replaying time as much as they are temporarily sliding into an alternate universe has never been well-received, but frankly, the darling of Opti’s research has enough clout not to care, until a professor with a grudge tries to put a permanent end to it. Love can’t alter time, and sometimes, even being able to rub out a single mistake isn’t enough…

  1. Great group of books you have here!! I LOVE the cover for Golden Braid and there is nothing better than a fairy tale retelling right? Texas Kissing sounds so good, I love books with that scenario. And yay for Nalini Singh!! Love her books…so dang good. Hope you enjoy.

    • I agree, fairytale retellings can be awesome, and that cover is what caught my eyes. Texas Kissing was really well done, but I had a little trouble connecting with Lily. My review will be posted next week.
Thanks for stopping by, Renee 🙂

  2. So many great books! I haven´t bought any myself this week, but I think I might come home with a new book after work today (booklover working in a bookstore….). The latest book in the Milennium-series is out now, and I´m so excited to see if David Lagercrantz can fill the shoes of Stieg Larsson! Ha en herlig helg, kjære du 🙂

  3. I’ve found Kim Harrison’s books to be a bit hit and miss for me over the years. I would have really enjoyed the Hollows series but by book 3 I was bored with the Ivy tries to snack on Rachel AGAIN plot and gave up with it. It’s a shame because I liked the characters and the humour! I’ve never been able to drag myself back to the books though. Hope you enjoy your new books!
