Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Nowhere But Here ~ Katie McGarry

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Nowhere But Here ~ Katie McGarry

Wow! Just wow! Every time I read Katie McGarry I kick myself for not reading her more often. With Nowhere But Here , I’m doing it again. She delivered a riveting, angsty, romantic, and suspenseful story with a cast FULL of characters I now love. I look forward to continuing the series! I so agree, Brandee! I don’t think I’ve read any McGarry since RT in Atlanta, and that’s a long time ago. I absolutely loved Nowhere But Here. For all the reasons you mentioned.    I was immediately drawn in to this story! Between being instantly smitten with Emily and Oz and needing to have all the secrecy around Emily explained, I was loathe to put this one down. I was […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Captive Prince ~ C.S. Pacat #UnearthingaBookishBounty

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Captive Prince ~ C.S. Pacat #UnearthingaBookishBounty

Wow! Captive Prince began intensely and maintained that intensity throughout. It was a challenge to put it down. The court politics, the intrigue, the betrayals, and the, ahem, interesting behaviors in the Veretian palace kept me flipping through the pages. This story is so well done, I think it’s safe to assume I’ll be completing this trilogy sooner than later. I agree with everything you said, Brandee! It was extremely intense, and that was awesome. I couldn’t put the book down all day – I just had to continue to read. Everything was intriguing, and that made me truly happy while reading.   Captive Prince started with what I believe would be considered an ultimate betrayal. A Prince being taken […]

Review: Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless – Liz Czukas

Review: Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless – Liz Czukas

Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless is a sweet, whimsical tale of six teenagers who worked in the same GoodFoods market on Christmas Eve. Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless is a fast read, which is a good thing, because we only follow the main character, Chloe, and her fellow young employees for a few hours. It’s impossible to really get to know the characters very well in such a short time, and the story itself was very light, just slightly touching on some important topics before moving on to the next one. Chloe had diabetes, but didn’t want her co-workers to know. She also had a crush on one of them, and that was an important part of her inner dialogues […]

Review: Better When He’s Bad – Jay Crownover

Review: Better When He’s Bad – Jay Crownover

Better When He’s Bad is dark and gritty, and while Bax and Dovie grew up in similar situations, one has managed to hold on to hope and loyalty, while the other thinks a life of crime is the only way to go. There were many things I really enjoyed in Better When He’s Bad, and both of the main characters were among those things. Dovie was so much stronger than she looked, she had been through a lot, but she held on to her inner goodness, and was not shy about sharing her hopes. Bax was much darker, but he had good reasons for seeing the future the way he did – either he’d be back in prison rather soon, […]

Review: Knight of Ocean Avenue – Tara Lain

Review: Knight of Ocean Avenue – Tara Lain

Knight of Ocean Avenue is a sweet and tender story, Billy and Shaz are both amazing characters, and I can’t wait to continue the Love in Laguna series. I buddy-read this one with Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee, and we both had a blast! My review is our chat about the book, and you’ll be able to find the chat on her blog as well. Reading a book with my blogger friend, and being able to actually share my thoughts about it just after reading enhances the experience for me! And I hope you’ll enjoy our chat as much as we did 😉 My Knight of Ocean Avenue review / bookchat Brandee: Lexxie, there are so many things I loved about […]

Review: The Distance Between Us – Kasie West

Review: The Distance Between Us – Kasie West

The Distance Between Us was a nice surprise, with Xander and Caymen from different sides of the track, and Caymen having heard her whole life that she should stay far, far away from rich boys, the relationship and the uncovering of secrets kept me invested in the story from start to finish. My The Distance Between Us review: When I picked up The Distance Between Us, I thought I would get a fluffy romance with young characters, and in a way, I did get that, but I got much more as well! Caymen had been working her whole life to get good grades, and helping her mom in the doll-shop after school. Brilliant in science, Caymen definitely wanted more in […]

Review: The Last Time We Say Goodbye – Cynthia Hand

Review: The Last Time We Say Goodbye – Cynthia Hand

Tissues! The Last Time We Say Goodbye is one of those books… and I just can’t stop crying right now. My The Last Time We Say Goodbye review: This is a pretty tough read, dealing with a difficult and heartbreaking subject. And it definitely should come with a trigger warning! At the very beginning of The Last Time We Say Goodbye, we learn that Lex’s brother Ty committed suicide, and Lex is seeing a therapist who first suggests that she be medicated, then when she vetoes that, he tells her she should write. The first and the last. Especially the last time she saw Ty happy. And Lex is numb. She goes through the motions, sharing flash-backs that seem so […]

Review: Never Never #2 – Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

Review: Never Never #2 – Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

Oh my goodness, Never Never is killing me! That is a flipping strong cliff-hanger right there, and I just don’t know if I’ll be able to wait for the next installment! My Never Never review: In Never Never Part 2, I got to know Silas a lot better, as he was the main narrator of the story. He was frantic in his search for Charlie, and the mystery and the suspense was truly palpable, until the very last word of the story! The character development was really well done, especially when taking into account that Silas didn’t even know who he was at the beginning of the story. However, as he followed his own clues, he started having some strong […]
