The Sunday Post #143 – Wrapping it Up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week has been a bit like an emotional rollercoaster for me… First, my exciting news from last week didn’t pan out. Like at all 🙁 Even after I first received a written confirmation something came up that made it impossible, and I was quite disappointed to be honest. As you can see above, I kind of overcompensated with lots and lots of new books.
Also, on Monday, my sister and her kids left. While it’s nice and quiet here now, it was also very sad to say goodbye. Especially because we don’t live in the same country, and don’t really know when we’ll see each other next. We did make some great new memories this summer though.
This week’s Freddy in action:
We went on some amazing hikes this week, and Freddy loved it! Even if he was extremely tired afterwards 😉

Oh no, so sorry the exciting news didn’t pan out. 🙁 I’m Glad you got to spend some time with your sister and of course Freddy is as adorable as ever. You got a great haul! I am getting the Vanessa Kelly one on audio and can’t wait! 🙂
Stormi ox
I’ll get over it, Stormi, and it also means that I’ll have more time to write an amazing MA thesis 🙂
Oh no! I’m so sorry that your news didn’t work out. 🙁 It’s great you were able to spend time with your sister and her kids, but it’s never fun when they then have to leave.
I hope you have a great upcoming week!!!
-Lauren
Such things happen, Lauren… I’ll be OK, and I just need to continue to work towards my goal. It was probably not supposed to happen now 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Yay for the hikes, boo for the disappointing news. 🙁 Books are good therapy though. Hope your weekend is a good one… and hopefully it won’t be too long before you get to see your sister again. It’s hard to part after spending time with family.
Hope all your books turn out good. 🙂
I prefer to concentrate most of my energy on the hikes and the good stuff, Greg 🙂 I’ll be OK.
And you’re right, it IS hard to part after spending some really good times with family!
I loved Rebecca Zanetti’s other series about the spy brothers. I haven’t tried anything else by her but that series is one of my favorites. Enjoy your new books!
This series is a dystopia, Neyreda, and I really enjoyed the first book – so well done, and scarily realistic!
My Fair Princess for some reason looks like it will be really good. You got a great haul this week 🙂
Thanks Leona, I look forward to digging in!
I’m so sorry to hear that your news didn’t pan out. That really sucks. :/ I hope all these new books make you feel all the better and also take your mind off your sadness over your sister leaving.
I so can’t wait to read Mistletoe!
Happy reading and I hope you enjoy every book you got!
Yeah, such is life, though, right? I just need to write an amazing thesis, and things will work out, I’m sure!
Thanks for stopping by, Nick 🙂
you have the cutest dog ever!! These reads aren’t really my kind of thing, but I hope you enjoy them
Thanks, Lauren 🙂
Boo for the disappointing news. It’s always a shame to feel let down. Book therapy is the best though, I hope you enjoy your new reads!
Book therapy is the best, Chrissi 🙂
Wildest Dreams and The Golden Dynasty look interesting. I hope you enjoy your books!
I agree, Majanka, they look fabulous 🙂
Aw I’m sorry your exciting news didn’t pan out and your sister and kids left 🙁 Yay for hikes though. Love your Freddy pictures!! Hope you enjoy all your new books!
🙁 I’ll get over it, no worries! And hikes are awesome, Grace 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Freddy asleep is one of the cutest things ever…I’m running out of words for cute! I’m sorry that things didn’t go your way this week. I fully understand the urge to splurge when things have been disappointing. It’s something I do very well…Lets hope that this week gets a bit better for you and there will always be Freddy cuddles to look forward to! Hope you have a good week.
I agree 🙂 He’s the cutest puppy ever! (No bias here!!)
Splurging on books made me feel better, and now it’ll also keep me occupied so it’s a double win! Thanks for stopping by, Chuckles!
Great haul! I hope you enjoy your books.
Diane @ Diane’s Book Blog
Thanks, Diane!
Oh bummer that the good news didn’t pan out. But yay for new books!! Gilt Hollow sounds like an intriguing read! Actually just started her co-authored Doon series! Liking it so far! Happy Reading!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Yeah, I know!! At least there are books to cheer me up, right?
So sorry that your exciting news didn’t pan out my friend! Especially after getting it confirmed! *HUGS* I’m glad that you made happy memories with the family, got lots of book to make you feel better AND had some adventures with Freddy – the during hiking pic and then the sleeping pic are just perfect 😀
🙁 Such is life, Micheline. Happy memories, lots of books, and cuddles and adventures with Freddy and youngest daughter makes things just great, too!
Oh No! I’m sorry your good news didn’t pan out! That’s so disappointing. 🙁 I’m glad you had a nice visit with your family though. 🙂
Yeah, but I’ll be OK, Tonyalee! Thanks for stopping by.
What an adorable puppy! All of these book are new to me, but I hope you enjoy them!
He is, isn’t he? (proud puppy-mom!!)
Thanks for stopping by, Jacque.
Sorry to hear the bad news – can understand that you got all those books instead. Happy reading anyways 🙂
best wishes
Vi @ Gone With The Books
Thanks, Vi 🙂
Enjoy that haul….and too bad about the surprise not happening. Great hike with Freddy, though; I love the photos.
Thanks, Laurel-Rain 😉
I saw The Young Widower’s Handbook, and wanted to get it from NetGalley. But I already have a bunch of books approved, so I didn’t even try for it. Have fun reading it.
I had no such restraint last week, Ardis 🙂 And I’m not even sorry!
Hey Lexxie! It looks like you’ve had a wonderful summer so far. But honestly! A Christmas book!?!? I do have a soft spot for Christmas stories and it IS Jill Shalvis, so I’m going to have to check it out anyways. Enjoy all your books.
LOL I had to request that Christmas book because I just finished reading the first in the series, and I NEED more, Stephanie 🙂
I’ve been absent for a couple of weeks Lexxie so missed your potential good news (but will go back and read about it). Sorry to hear it didn’t pan out. Dare I say that these things happen for a reason?!
But… you’re most definitely justified in making up for the disappointment with books! A healthy habit!
I was very vague about the news, so you won’t really find much about it… one day, I may expand on it 🙂 And you’re completely right! Things definitely happen for a reason.
Thanks for stopping by!
Looks like you’ve got some great new ARC’s Lexxie. Love those covers.
Sorry to hear you’re week wasn’t what you hoped it would be. Goodbyes are always hard. Books are definitely always a good thing to get your mind of hard and sad things.
Have a great week and Happy Reading! 😉
I did get some great ARCs 🙂 And I’m very happy with them! Thanks for stopping by, Maureen!
That stinks that things didn’t work out. Ha – yeah, going on a book buying binge always helps, though. I love Karina Halle, but I haven’t read Smut yet. Great pictures! Have a nice week, Lexxie.
You’re right – book-buying binges help for almost everything 😀
Twitter: ailynk
no worries Lexxie, you know that they say right? sometimes things happen for a reason, and you never know what might be down the road in store for you. You work very hard, so someday you will reach your goal
*nice books by the day*
You’re right, Ailyn! I was still disappointed when I first got the news, though. Thanks for stopping by.
I’m sorry your exciting thing didn’t work out 🙁 And it’s always tough saying goodbye when you’re not sure when you’ll see someone again or when you know it’ll be a while. I’m glad you had some fun though, and it definitely looks like Freddy enjoyed it!
Yeah, saying goodbye is tough. But we had over two weeks together that were fantastic, so I should really stop complaining 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Kristen!
That’s tough, it’s always hard when something exciting doesn’t work out, and when family members leave. But you got lot of books to read though, so I hope that you enjoy them. 🙂
Yeah, but that’s also just how life is sometimes, right? Thanks for stopping by, Anna.
some different books for you. Sorry you had a bad news…. happy reading!
Thanks, Melliane 🙂

It is so hard to say goodbye. I loved seeing my sister last month. I know it will be a long time before I see her and her kids again. I miss them so much. We still talk like 3 or 4 times a week on the phone. I know we can at least do that and it helps.
Sorry to hear you had bad news. I always think about the balance for my life when bad things happen, usually something good is right around the corner. It can’t all be bad all the time. I hope you get great news really soon.
Happy reading!
My sister and I chat often as well – both online and on the phone, and we have a great relationship, so we have a lot to be thankful for.
I know there will be good things, too, Karen, and maybe even this last thing will end up being good for me – you never know, right?
Sorry your prospect melted away – on top of your family leaving, that must have made it even harder:(. When the family leave, the house always feels sad and empty for a while before I once more get lost in my work… Thank goodness you have the companionship of your adorable little dog – what a lovely lot of pics. Hope this week is a lot more positive and take care.
https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/07/24/sunday-post-24th-july/
Yes, the house did feel rather empty, but now we’ve gotten used to it. So we’ll probably be frustrated with all the people when my husband and our other kids come back on Friday 🙂
Twitter: kimbacaffeinate
I am so sorry things didn’t work. *hugs* but yes books sooth the soul.
They sure do, Kim!
So sorry your news didn’t pan out! I tend to go on book buying binges as therapy as well! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
It really is therapy, Samantha 🙂 Thanks!
Sorry your big news fell through but perhaps another door will open, Lexxie. I imagine Frddy did get dog tires. LOL Such little legs for long hikes! He is just so darned cute. I love that you share him with us every week! And I over compensate with book buying binges when I want to cheer myself up too. You should see the haul I’ll be sharing next week. LOL It was my stress and loneliiness relief:)
I know you’re right, another door, or window or something will surely open and I’ll be very happy about it 🙂
LOL, he really loves coming on hikes, though. And since I’m not very fast it’s good for him – get those muscles going for him (and me) is positive.
I look forward to seeing your huge haul, but hope loneliness and stress is not bothering you this week!

I’m really sorry your thing didn’t work out. I can’t wait to read your review of Croc’s Return. I’ve really enjoyed that series. I also really enjoyed Wildest Dreams. I plan to get Golden Dynasty next. I hope you enjoy your quiet time. It can be hard to have your family leave when you don’t know when you will see them again. My mom just left. She lives in Alaska so I don’t know when I will see here again either. Hope you have a great week.
I loved Croc’s Return, Melanie 🙂 I need more books in that series. The narration was really well done too. And I find that I love audiobooks when I’m on the beach 🙂
I’m sorry you had to say goodbye last week, too! *hugs*
Awww…I’m sorry to hear about the exciting news not panning out, but at least you got some great books in the long run! Here’s my Sunday Post!
You’re right, Ronyell. Always look at the bright side 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I’m sorry your news didn’t work out but hopefully something great will come up soon. And I’m for book buying binges as a pick me up! I love the picture of Freddy on his leash. I imagine he does tire out with those little legs! Have a great week!
I am sure something really good will come up for me, Katherine 🙂 it was tough to deal with it just as it happened, but now I’m OK with it.
Sorry your news didn’t work out. 🙁 You got some good books though! Smut is one that I want to read. Aw, sweet Freddy! You need to go visit my Sunday Post in the link below because I have a picture of one of my dachshund “grandpuppies”. 🙂
I did get some great books, and I’m looking forward to Smut a lot, Lisa! I’m actually listening to another Halle book right now 🙂
Your dachshund grandpuppy is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Weenie!!! I get so excited about your dog pictures every week! XD I almost picked up a copy of Gilt Hollow recently, but didn’t end up reading it. I hope you like it! Have a great week 😀
I’m glad I’m not boring everyone with my weekly puppy-pics, Tracy!
I got a review copy of Gilt Hollow after BEA, but it was so difficult to read, because on each page it said ‘REVIEW COPY’ diagonally cross the page… This kindle version doesn’t have that 🙂
Sorry to hear your news didn’t pan out. Better luck next time!
The Kristen Ashley books look really good — looking forward to hearing what you think of them 🙂
Thanks, Michelle 🙂
My nearest sister lives 4 hours away, I get to see her multiple times a year. My other two sisters live 8 & 22 hours away and I never know when I am going to get to see them either. It’s sad, since my furthest sister had a baby at the beginning of the year and I’ve never gotten to see her.
I hope next week is better for you. I have a very limited budget, so I go on a freebie rampage when I am feeling down.
O no.. I think I would cry if I wasn’t able to meet my sister’s children while they were still babies 🙁 I hope you’ll be able to meet your niece soon!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
So sorry that your exciting news didn’t happen the way you hoped it would. It can be so disappointing when you think something is coming together and then it all falls apart – much worse than if it never seemed possible in the first place. I’m glad that you have lots of books and that cute little pup to keep you company, and I hope things look up soon!
True, if things didn’t seem like they would happen, it wouldn’t be disappointed when they actually didn’t… Thanks, Nicole.
Wow that is a lot of books! My sis lives in a different state and I’m always so glad to see her and sad when we say goodbye. We usually only have time to spend one day together as well so it doesn’t feel long enough. I hope you see your sis again soon. Freddy seems like you wore him out on that hike! Too cute 😀 I hope your week is filled with unicorns and glitter.
Only a day at a time sounds like it’d be a whirlwind, Jaclyn! I’m glad we got to spend two weeks together, even if we have no idea when we’ll see each other next 🙂
Thanks for the unicorns and glitter!!
oh my you got some great goodies here. Kristen Ashley is amazing right? I love her audiobooks, and I always use my credits every month for her books when I can. Rebecca Zanetti and Vanessa Kelly are both entertaining authors to read.
I know! And I agree, KAshely is awesome, I love her, too. I haven’t listened to any of her audios yet, but I’ve read the whole Rock Chick series, plus I also own that one on audio.
Twitter: talksupeblog
Sorry to hear that, if it helps, maybe there’s something better for you.
Curious about Smut 😉
I’m sure there will be something good happening for me work-wise and school-wise, Braine 🙂 Thanks!!
Oh no. I’m sorry your big news didn’t pan out. 🙁 It does look like you got some great books though!
Yes, and good books makes everything better, SJ 🙂

I got My Fair Princess, The Trouble with Mistletoe and Smut! I’m so excited for all three! I’m sorry about your news :/ And let’s hope you can plan to see your sister soon! Oh gosh I love Freddy. He’s so cute <3
YAY, I hope we’ll both enjoy our new additions, Gen!
