Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, and so will Jaclyn, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on Jaclyn’s page. Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well
Sidekick Showcase #21 – mischievous
My mischievous sidekick wasn’t very hard to find – I had to go with Puck from Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series 🙂 He is the epitome of mischievous in my opinion, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a picture of him next to the word in a dictionary to make sure everybody completely got what the word means 😀
From The Iron Daugther:
“You’re kind of blind, you know?” Puck whispered, smiling to soften his words. “I wouldn’t defy Oberon for just anyone. But, for you…” He leaned forward, touching his forehead to mine. “I’d come back from the dead for you.”
“Looks like nobody’s home,” Puck said, turning in a slow circle. “Hellooooooooo? Anybody here?”
“Be quiet, Goodfellow,” Ash growled, peering into the shadows with narrowed eyes. “We’re not alone.”
“Yeah? How do you figure that, prince? I don’t see anyone.”
“The cait sith has disappeared.”
“ … Crap.”“So, we’re at war. Perfect. Shall we save time and kill each other now, or did you want to wait until later?”
From The Iron King:
“Me? Die? Didn’t they tell you, princess? I’m Robin Goodfellow.”
“Me? Stealing?” Puck flashed a devious grin and popped another fruit into his mouth. “In the house of my ancient enemy? What gave you that idea?” He plucked another fruit and tossed it to me with a wink.”
“Hi, Princess. Sorry I’m late. Traffic was a bitch.” He winked at me, then shot a glance at the winter sidhe, standing in the doorway. “Hey, Shard.” He waved. “Nice place you’ve got here. I’ll have to remember it, so I can give it the special ‘Puck touch’.”
“Time to switch to decaf, princess. If you’re going to shriek at every bogey that jumps out and says ‘boo’, you’ll be exhausted before we reach the edge of the woods.”
From The Iron Queen:
“Oh, look at that, he’s heard of me. My fame grows.”
“Ah.” Puck’s emerald eyes sparkled with glee. “And so they come crawling back for Puck’s help after all. Tsk tsk.” He shook his head and took another bite of the apple. “How easy it is to forget grudges when someone has something you need.”
So who did you choose for the Sidekick Showcase of the mischievous? Please do share, and don’t forget to leave your link so I can find yours as well!
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a spectacular Saturday and a wonderful weekend 🙂
I have never read this series but the Puck references are motivating me to try it out!
I love absolutely everything Julie Kagawa has written so far, and yes, Puck is pretty cool 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Alisa 🙂
Yes 😀 He is one of the most mischievous characters I’ve ever seen in fiction. I love his character so much though. He really turns the tide in the books and it a ton of fun. Excellent pick 😀 I hope everything’s going well for you! I know we’ve all gotten a little overwhelmed and busy these couple of weeks. Have a fantastic weekend!! Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.
And he’s hilarious as well 🙂 All is good, here, Jaclyn, I just feel like I’m never stopping these days (nor sitting down with a book just because I feel like it). Once I get back into the rhythm of classes I should be good to go again, though.
I hope your weekend is great as well! *hugs*
I love the idea of this meme! Puck is one of my favorite characters from the Iron Fey world and you picked some of his best quotes. My personal favorite is the one about decaf. Great post!
You should participate, Jennifer! It’s a lot of fun. And you don’t have to post on Saturday – and day will do.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I haven’t read this, by the time our library got the series, I was on my YA ban. Now I’m more inclined to read her Vampire-Dystopia series instead. However we did feature this series before and Debbie loved it!
Oh, her Vampire-Dystopia series Blood of Eden is made of gold! (and vamapires) It’s truly awesome.
Thanks for stopping by Braine 🙂
I’m one of the few who haven’t read anything by this author yet. Madness, I know! But I have heard a lot about the awesomeness that is Puck. I hope you’re enjoying being back at school.
Hey Robyn 🙂 Yes, I do enjoy being back at school, I’m starting to get back into my busy rhythm 🙂
I know what to get you for Christmas now, Robyn! A Julie Kagawa book 😀
Thanks for stopping by, have a beautiful week and happy reading + writing.
LOL I’m going to look in my dictionary to see if Puck is there!
Your quotes really showed Puck’s mischievous side, Lexxie! Well done! And now I’m feeling badly that I haven’t taken the time to meet him yet. I need to go through my TBR (yes, in my vast quantities of spare time) and prioritize it. Maybe I can coerce my daughter to help me! LOL But this series needs to move up on the list! 🙂 **HUGS**
Oh, please let me know if Puck is in your dictionary, Brandee 😀 Sadly, I didn’t find him in mine – I was really surprised.
I know what you mean about organizing TBR shelves. My kindle has over 500 unread books on it now… I have no idea when I’ll get the time to read them all- and you know I got those books because I really wanted to read them.
*hugs*
