Review: Rookie Move – Sarina Bowen

Review: Rookie Move – Sarina Bowen

Rookie Move was a sweet and hot contemporary hockey romance! I really enjoyed that Bowen understood the game and everything that can surround a hockey team. Story: Brooklyn Bruisers is a fairly new hockey club, and the club’s PR person, Georgia, has to deal with both her father and her ex coming to work for the club. Her father as the new coach, her ex as a new player. There is a lot of history here, and that made for a sweet second-chance-at-love story. Characters: Both the main characters, Georgia and Leo, and the secondary characters, Becca, Ari, O’Doul, and Castro, just to name a few were well fleshed out, and I got to know them fairly well. Writing style […]

Review: Bossed Sloane Howell

Review: Bossed Sloane Howell

Bossed was a fun story that still brought the feels. Baseball, snark and romance in plenty. I’m not sure why I haven’t read Sloane Howell before… I guess I was a bit surprised about a male author writing romance, and that sounds incredibly sexist, right? Bossed was really well done, though. And even if I’m not usually a fan of office romances, it definitely hit the right spot! I think it’s partly because Jenny didn’t take what Ethan was dishing. And she was so snarky it was impossible to not fall in love with her. Ethan acted like the big bad wolf at times, but Jenny knew her baseball and called him on it. Every time. Bossed is a quite […]

Review: Roman – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Roman – Sawyer Bennett

Roman showed a different aspect of the hockey club as well as the difficulty to live in that world, especially when the characters wanted to keep some private moments… private. I feel like I always say something about my big love for hockey players when I review a Cold Fury book, but it’s true! Roman made my toes curl in many ways. Of course the fact that he’s a bad boy didn’t make me blink even once. I’m not usually one for enforcers when it comes to hockey. They break up the game, and I think here in Europe, hockey is different from the way it’s played in the US. One thing I really enjoyed with Roman was that we got […]

Review: Max – Saywer Bennett

Review: Max – Saywer Bennett

Max is hands down the most swoony of the hockey players in Cold Fury Hockey, like a knight in shining armour, but with a wicked humor. I think Max wins the book boyfriend of the year prize for 2016 (as I read this last year). He was so amazing, he met a woman he found intriguing, and wasn’t scared by the fact that she was raising three young children on her own – having two jobs to make ends meet. Julianne was definitely worth waiting for, though, and while it took him a while to woo her, it was all so very sweet! Bennett always writes her heroes both alpha males and sensitive and sensible. I think it’s that mix […]

Review: Hard to Hold – Katie Rose

Review: Hard to Hold – Katie Rose

Hard to Hold is a sweet contemporary romance in the spin-off to The Boys of Summer series, with solid characters and a good plot. Contemporary romances that include sports heroes are among my favorites, and Hard to Hold is well done, with complex characters that I wanted to spend even more time with! The romance was swoony, and Logan was toe-curling! I can’t imagine what Logan went through – out with some friends for a few beers, a woman he’d spent one night with a year before dumped a three-month old baby in his lap and told him he was the father and it was his turn to take care of Cinnamon… At least, women have 9 months to get used […]

Review: Hawke – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Hawke – Sawyer Bennett

Everybody knows I love Cold Fury Hockey, and Hawke, he definitely made me melt, but then, so did Vale! Hawke’s story is very complicated, because he and Vale were together for four years when they were younger, up until the day he left Sydney for Pittsburg to play professional hockey. Then, she told him she didn’t love him, and she never looked back. Fast forward several years, and they meet again, when Hawke starts playing for Cold Fury Hockey, and Vale is the new PT / physiotherapist for the club. All of his feelings of betrayal and hurt come back to the surface, while at the same time he just can’t help but feel utterly attracted to her. The story […]

Review: Better When He’s Bad – Jay Crownover

Review: Better When He’s Bad – Jay Crownover

Better When He’s Bad is dark and gritty, and while Bax and Dovie grew up in similar situations, one has managed to hold on to hope and loyalty, while the other thinks a life of crime is the only way to go. There were many things I really enjoyed in Better When He’s Bad, and both of the main characters were among those things. Dovie was so much stronger than she looked, she had been through a lot, but she held on to her inner goodness, and was not shy about sharing her hopes. Bax was much darker, but he had good reasons for seeing the future the way he did – either he’d be back in prison rather soon, […]

Review: Back in Black – Lori Foster

Review: Back in Black – Lori Foster

Back in Black is filled with hot fighters, strong-willed women, romance and quite a bit of action. Back in Black was like time-travel for me, as I have read all Foster’s Ultimate stories, and the SBC Fighters series include some characters that show up there as well. Gillian and Drew were both great characters, and I loved the chemistry between them. However, there was another couple that started their romance as well, Brett and Audrey, and the fact that I had to follow two couples instead of just one made me feel like I didn’t really get fully invested in either of them. Don’t take me wrong – all four characters were great, and I enjoyed their interactions as well […]

Blogtour Review: Tackling the Tight End – Tara Lain

Blogtour Review: Tackling the Tight End – Tara Lain

Welcome to my stop on the Tackling the Tight End blogtour. I have my review and favorite quotes as usual, and there are other goodies here for me to share with you as well! This Blogtour is hosted by Enchantress Design and Promo. Tackling the Tight End is the third instalment in Lain’s Long Pass Chronicles series, and it features the ‘bad guy’ from the first book as one of the main characters. The story is filled with conflict, both external and internal, and it was sweet in some moments, and pretty dark in others. At the beginning of Tackling the Tight End, I had a little bit of trouble getting into the story being about Dennis, he was such […]

Review: The Heat Is On – Katie Rose

Review: The Heat Is On – Katie Rose

The Heat Is On is one of the sweetest second chance at love romances I have read! Tracy and Connor were both very tentative, for different, but obvious reasons. I loved meeting the baseball players from Sonics again, and the way Tracy and Connor dealt with adversity. I think what made The Heat Is On so irresistible to me was the fact that Tracy had four very young children, and while Connor was taken aback when he first found out, he didn’t let that hinder him in his quest to win Tracy back. And those kids were just so cute, too – even if it was definitely a lot for Tracy to take care of them, especially because her creepy […]
