Certain individuals might consider Lady Amelia Pembroke a managing sort of female, but truly, most people would be lost without her help. Why, the latest on-dit is that rakish Viscount Sheffield is canceling the fête of the year because he hasn't time for silly soirees. He doesn't need time—he needs her!
When a flash of lightning destroys the venue for his family's annual Christmas ball, Lord Benedict Sheffield intends to enjoy a relaxing holiday for once. But after twelve days of beguiling Lady Amelia's guerrilla tactics, he's up to his cravat with tinsel . . . and tumbling head over heels in love.
The Viscount’s Christmas Temptation is the perfect ‘hors d’oeuvre’ to Ridley’s new series: fun characters, unlikely situations, a Christmas ball and romance are all neatly packed into this little story.
My The Viscount’s Christmas Temptation review:
Lady Amelia is an organizer, she plans for everything, even the unexpected. When she decides to help Lord Benedict to host his annual Christmas Ball, she does not take no for an answer, and she knows exactly which angle to play to make sure things happen the way she want them to. There is one little thing she hasn’t planned for though, and that’s falling in love with her co-host.
The Viscount’s Temptation is a light-hearted historical holiday romance, and I enjoyed every word of the story. Both of the main characters are very head-strong and stubborn, and that made everything that happened slightly humorous, because they were both trying to get their way, not realizing they actually wanted the same thing.
Written in third person past tense, The Viscount’s Christmas Temptation let me get to know the various characters quite well, and I really wanted to stay in this universe for a while longer. I had not read any books by Ms. Ridley before, but I am a few seconds away from going on a one-click spree right now. I look forward to reading both more stories in her The Dukes of War series, and other books she has written.
If you’re looking for a quick holiday read, with a nice historical romance feel to it, you should go on your own one-click spree and enjoy.
Some of my favorite The Viscount’s Christmas Temptation quotes:
She had to get a husband. But where to begin? She stretched her slippered toes toward the fire as she considered the problem anew. Her thirtieth birthday was coming up fast – the day after Christmas! Good heavens. A young lady in her twenties sounded ever so much more marriageable than a spinster in her thirties.
Benedict tilted his head, impressed. Rather than attempt to barge her way in, she’d come prepared to wait him out – on the front stair, where every eye in every townhouse in the whole crescent was likely watching her. Intrigued despite himself, he tugged at his fob and checked the time on his watch.
At least, he’d always thought he liked that. He was beginning to suspect he liked being intrigued even more.

It’s funny because something about this cover had made me think Snow White… Maybe the apple? Oh well, it still sounds really fun. I can relate to the main character since I’m a major planner too. I’m constantly making to-do lists and schedules, including contingency plans. It also sounds funny, since the two characters are trying to outsmart each other to achieve the same thing – that’s very Shakespearean comedy lol. Adding to my tbr!
LOL, it does look a little snow-whitey, Berls, but it’s nothing like that at all. It was a fun story, and I could get into the planning, as well, although I don’t always include contingency plans.
I hope you’ll enjoy this one as much as I did 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
