Mason Hall, Navy SEAL, knows all about difficult assignments, but his current mission is one for the record books. Not only must he find a wife—and get her pregnant—or forfeit the ranch his family has prized for generations, he must also convince his three brothers to marry, too—before the year is up. Who knew one city girl and three wayward brothers could put up such a fight?
Regan Anderson can’t wait any longer to meet Mr. Right, so she’s taken matters into her own hands. She’s quit her job, given up her nice apartment and undergone all the preliminary appointments to prepare for artificial insemination. Still, becoming a single mother is daunting, so when she spots Mason’s Wife Wanted ad on the Internet one night, she’s ready for a few laughs. She’s sure the ad must be fake, but when Mason answers back, she soon finds herself wanting more than a long distance relationship.
If Mason can just keep her talking until he makes it home from Afghanistan, he’s sure he can convince Regan he’s her man. But when he whisks her off for a trial run in Chance Creek, they’re in for an unpleasant surprise. The ranch is in ruins, the house has been stripped, and they’re going to have to work day and night to beat Mason’s deadline to win it back.
Can two strangers pull together against all odds? Or is this mission doomed to fail?
*I received a free ARC of The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride from One Acre Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*
The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride is a modern-day romance, in which family pressure makes Mason realize he needs to get married, and fast. Humorous, romantic and cute – I enjoyed reading the story, and getting to know Mason and Reagan.
My The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride review:
Mason is never one to back down from a challenge, even while in Afghanistan, he starts looking for a wife both for himself and for his three brothers. It’s the only way for them to keep the family ranch. And they all get a lot of responses from more or less serious, and more or less scary women. One in particular stands out to Mason, though, and the whole premise of The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride is built on that. Reagan wants a baby so badly she has given up on finding the right man to have a baby with, she is all set up to start with IVF, but one evening, she has a little too much wine, and finds Mason’s ad. She sends a very funny answer, with a picture of her foot, and only has a slight recollection of doing so the next day.
Mason is so intrigued by Reagan’s answer he knows he has to get to know her better. The Nave SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride is filled with e-mails, skype conversations, finally meeting in person, and going to the ranch to get to know each other in real life. And because they are both set on founding a family, they have at least one important thing in common. Neither Reagan nor Mason is afraid of hard work either, and with the odds against them, they try to rebuild Mason’s family ranch together.
The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride is both romantic and funny, and the protagonists really have their work cut out for them! I loved their honesty towards each other, Mason even came clean about having to get married and have a baby within a year, and they were able to continue to get to know each other and fall in love anyway. There are some pretty hot and steamy scenes I really enjoyed, and the fact that it all happens in Chance Creek is a big plus for me, as I have loved the Cowboys of Chance Creek, too. And some of those cowboys and their wives show up in The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride as well.
A quick read, The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride is a perfect summer story, with romance, friendship, hardship, concessions and some fun, too. Written in third person point of view, I got to know both Mason and Reagan well enough to want things to work out for them, and also to see what will happen with Mason’s brothers in future books in this series.
Some of my favorite The Navy SEAL’s E-Mail Order Bride quotes:
When he Skyped with her, he wanted to project the same kind of calm confidence he did when he led his men on a mission. But women were trickier than terrorists, he reflected. At least to him.
She looked away, but Mason must have read her mind again, because he came closer, rested his hands on her hips and said, “I want to kiss you again. You all right with that?”
“And I have to be back here by May twenty-sixth.” “That’s three and a half weeks.” “That’s non-negotiable.” She used the tone she took at the bank with unruly customers.
