It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Welcome to It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? This is a meme hosted by Sheila @ Book Journey; and I think it is great to start the week with what I’m reading right this minute, and what I’ll be reading (or planning on reading, anyway) for the rest of the week.
Please visit Sheila’s blog to sign up on her linky, that way you will have other Monday bloggers coming to visit you as well.
Last week, I read the following books:
Lord Rakehell’s Love is a novella, a fun and enticing historical romance, by Donna Cummings. I really enjoyed this story, there is a nice mix in it, and the inclusion of some Greek Gods completely tickled my funny bone! 4 stars – review will be up in about ten days.
Why Dukes Say I Do by Manda Collins was a very good surprise! It’s also a historical romance and the first in a series – and the heroine wasn’t a virging! If you’ve read my discussion posts lately, you’ve probably noticed that I’m obsessed with how sex is presented in my reads these days 🙂 4 stars – review will be up in two weeks.
And that’s it! I had a pretty busy week because my children had their first week back in school. And I also had a visit with my dentist and got rid of a wisdom tooth. That was a lot of fun… not! I hope I’ll be able to read a little more this week. Here’s what I’m planning on reading :
Bound by Night (Moonbound Clan Vampire #1) by Larissa Ione, I somehow have managed getting an ARC both from Edelweiss and Netgalley for this title, and I have no idea how that happened. Anyhow, I’m really looking forward to reading this.
The Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins is a contemporary romance novel, and since I love those, and usually enjoy KH’s writing, this is another one I look forward to. I have an eARC from Netgalley for this one as well.
I had planned on reading both of these books last week, but somehow, I never got to them. Better late than never, though, right?
Here are the posts that appeared here at (un)Conventional Bookviews in the past week:
Review : The Secret Race – Tyler Hamilton – 5 stars
Top Ten Tuesday #19 – Top Ten Secondary Characters
Review: Wrong Ways Down (Downside Ghosts #1.5) – Stacia Kane – 5 stars
Review: Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows #8) – Kim Harrison – 5 stars
Blogtour and Giveaway: Destruction of the Soul (The Guild Series) – J. L. Vallance
Feature and Follow #58 – Only One Book?!?
Sidekick Showcase #17 – Living Dead
Thanks for stopping by today, have a great Monday and a fantastic week 🙂
Oh, those historical romance novels look nice! I miss reading them, I haven’t picked one up in months, but I haven’t found anything good to read lately :/
Both of these historical romance novels were awesome! One short and one long – and both really went well with my mood 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Golide 🙂
I love Manda Collins! I checked out the book in Goodreads and it’s on my Want to Read list! Thanks for this 🙂
It was my discovery of Manda Collins, and I’m really happy I tried one of her books.
Ooh nice! Haven’t read any of these but hope you enjoyed and enjoy them!
Ugh, wisdom teeth so not fun! At least you just had 1 removed! I had 6 wisdom teeth and only 5 were removed! I even remember waking up somewhat during the surgery, I was still delusional and out of it, but apparently the IV got knocked or something! Not fun times and the recovery even worse since I couldn’t eat solid food for a few days! But it seems like you’re already recovered, so YAY!
Happy Reading!
Here’s my Monday Wrapup
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
How did you manage to get six wisdom teeth? *ouch!!* I’m glad I only needed to get rid of one, and it went really smoothly, so if I ever have to get rid of another, I won’t be too upset and nervous on the forehand. I can’t even begin to imagine waking up during surgery – that’s really scary.
The two books I read last week were awesome, and I hope I’ll enjoy the ones I’ve lined up for this week as well.
Thanks for stopping by Jessica.
I haven’t read any historicals lately, Lexxie. Both of those sound wonderful! And I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Bound by Night! I recently put that on my TBR. 🙂
I hope the kiddos’ first week back wasn’t too traumatic. 😉 And I’m so sorry about your wisdom tooth – those things are never fun! Happy Monday and I hope your week is smashing! *hugs*
I think Bound by Night will be my next read when I finish Ever After. I look forward to it a lot 🙂
The kids’ first week back was good. It was hard for all of us to be on a schedule again… I was probably more tired than any of them!
I’m getting my stitches out tomorrow, then I should be good to go 🙂 I agree, not my fave thing to do at the dentist.
Thanks for stopping by, Brandee! *hugs*
LOL You’re going to get tired of hearing me report on The Historian. However, I am up to chapter 69. 😀
I’ll never get tired of the Historian or your reports on it, Xyra! I’m glad you’re enjoying it! And I hope you’ll have a great week 🙂
*hugs*
😀
Right now I feel sad for Helen. those postcards she sent…
*hugs*
It’s been a while since I read it… I can’t say I remember any postcards 🙁
The daughter finds postcards addressed to her among her father’s belongings in his room in France. She and Barley are reading them between letters about Paul and Helen’s quest to find Sveti Georgi (sp?) It’s just sad that she felt compelled to leave her husband and daughter.

Hi Lexxie,
I am reading True Love by Jude Deveraux. I haven’t read anything from her in a long time but I got the ARC from Edelweiss I think, so I needed to get it read. 🙂 I really like it so far but it was funny because I read your latest discussion..lol. So I was reading this book and the sex scene came and I thought..uh oh no safe sex..LOL. You know I guess I never really gave it much thought as it’s just a book..but it was funny because I wouldn’t have thought about it except I had just read your post…lol.
I hope you have a good week!
LOL, I’m sorry if my discussion post brought you out of your reading-enjoyment! But at the same time, I am kind of glad. The first time I read a book that got me thinking about it, I was a little shocked, and since that time, I noticed it a lot more if there was safe or un-safe sex happening.
I’m glad you’re enyjoing the book anyway, though, and I look forward to your review!
My week has started off pretty well, I hope yours will be good, too!
Glad to see you did not read that many books 😉 Have a great week and keep away from the dentist for a while!
🙂 I’m only human, you know, Ciska! After tomorrow, I’ll stay away from the dentist – promise 🙂
Have a great week.
Two books in one week is not bad at all! “The next best thing” is now on my reading list. It sounds like it’s the perfect book for me, I loooove romance 😉
I’m with you, Anette, romance is awesome 🙂 And I usually read four or five books every week, that’s why two seemed to be not much.
Have a great week!
What am I reading? I have 20 books on my Kindle and don’t know which one to read first!
