Love is infinite.
Hate is absolute.

In the short span of a year, Silver has gone from becoming a Mage to discovering the truth about her unique genetics. Logan Cross went from her mortal enemy to her immortal lover, but a threat is fast approaching like an inevitable storm. Attacks are underway against the Mageri and one man is behind it—an elusive foe who is an unstoppable force. Nero is not Silver’s only concern as someone close to her is arrested for treason. In the midst of chaos, Silver discovers she cannot protect everyone from the wrath of fate, including her own Ghuardian.

Justus finally opens his heart, but an unexpected turn of events could darken his soul forever. Secrets are revealed that will leave you reeling from one twist after the next. Would you sacrifice everything for love?

Destiny has set sail and once she alters her course, no one’s life will ever be the same in this explosive conclusion to the Mageri Series.

*I received a free ARC of Shine from Enchantress of Books Blogtours for my participation and reviewing for the tour*

Shine is the last book in the Mageri series, and it was a little bitter-sweet to start reading since I knew this when I got it. Silver really gets into her own in Shine, and there are so many twists and turns that I had to remind myself to keep breathing, and to get my heart rate down to a normal level. Logan is still my number one book boyfriend, that man is incredible, and his love for Silver probably makes the world go around.

The story-arc continues from the prior books in this excellent urban fantasy series, Shine ties up some loose ends, but even towards the very end of the book, I felt hope – there might be more coming from the Mageri universe, and I, for one, think that there are lots of more stories Ms. Dark could regal her readers with. The characters all are true to themselves, and still, they all evolve and grow in Shine. Even Justus shows that there is still humanity left inside of him, and Adam comes to an important realization about himself and the choices he makes in his life moving forward.

Those who have been visiting my blog for a while know that the Mageri series is one of my all time favorite urban fantasy series, and Shine really outdid the other books, because I felt accomplished by the time I finished reading, knowing that the characters I have come to know and love will continue what they started, even if I might not be able to read about it all. The story is quite fast-paced, and a lot of the things that happen builds on what was already started in the prior books. I continue to love how Silver takes her new life seriously, and how high her morals are, and to see that she would do absolutely everything in her power to keep those she loves safe!

Of course, the writing is exceptional, I love how Ms. Dark can spin her story, and I have nothing but positive things to say about Shine. The tension building is extremely well done, and the outcome was not at all what I expected. To be surprised, fervently clicking ‘next page’ on my kindle, and just not wanting the book to end is an understatement of how I was while reading. The love story is also so well done, Logan could melt me with just a look, and Silver is able to make him melt right back! Both the characters I already knew and the few new additions are awesome, and the way people are accepted into the fold of Silver’s ‘family’ sometimes with difficulties, makes it all the more realistic.

If you haven’t started the Mageri series yet, I can only ask you one thing: What are you waiting for? You can find my reviews of the other books here:
Sterling ★★★★★  Twist ★★★★★ Impulse ★★★★★ Gravity ★★★★☆  and you’ll see that I have loved all of them. Urban Fantasy with a magical twist and paranormal flavor, true love, life lessons, and characters striving to do what is right, even when it’s hard; all of that is packed into this wonderful series that I know will be one of the few on my re-read shelf.

“Mmm, I like it when my female greets me this way,” he purred. I nuzzled my face into his neck as he slowly set my feet on the ground. Logan Cross was six and a half feet of divine maleness.

What did he know of women? He knew nothing of what made them tick – one reason he stayed out of Silver’s personal life. Trying to understand the decisions she made was an exercise in futility. Then again, who was he to talk? Here he was at the doorstep of a woman who was not even his own Breed.

Vampires could hear a pin drop across a room, but he’d come to realize that half weren’t listening. A guy had once told him that after four hundred years of hearing people’s conversations, he could give a rat’s ass if they were revealing the location of the lost city of gold.

Logan curved his right arm around my thigh, pulling it up higher, while his left arm slid beneath the pillow. We slowly came together, fitting in a way that felt effortless and divine.

Few men could pull off leathers as sexily as he could. Simon was a few inches taller than me with a leaner build than Logan. Brown hair, caramel eyes, and lush lips were his trademark.[…] Those lips were meant to be on a woman’s body. However, he suffered from irritable mouth syndrome, which inevitably put a damper on anything I’d felt for him sexually.

About Dannika Dark :
This is the segment where you learn a little more about who I am, so here’s what I can tell you: I drink copious amounts of vitamin water placed precariously close to my laptop while writing. These are two healthy habits I have no intention of breaking. I’m a transplant living in the south, but I was born in the 70’s to a military dad who moved us around the world.

When I’m not writing (which is all the time), I’m hunting down Indie music, watching movies, reading, eating Tex-Mex, discovering new ways to humiliate myself bowling, and burning up my laptop battery on the Internet. I have a relaxed, easy-going personality and don’t like drama. I live with a cat who thinks she is a dog, or a goat (she eats plastic, so I’m not sure which).

Throughout my life, I’ve had insomnia. Counting sheep never worked and eventually I would imagine those sheep were the sole source of food after an apocalyptic battle where only thousands survived. I made up stories in a futile attempt to bore myself to sleep. The problem was, I got so wrapped up in my “head stories” that I would continue them through the following nights, changing it up each time to make it more exciting. Eventually, I started writing my ideas down – creating short stories, and then I discovered my love for poetry.

It’s almost embarrassing how many spiral notebooks and stacks of paper I have of poetry and lyrics.

Another passion: digital art. I design all my book covers, marketing, and series art. I’m a very visual person and pursued photography as an avid hobby for many years.

I am not a YA author (I feel like I have to state this only because I’ve had a few people ask), but I think it’s wonderful there are so many books available to teens in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal.

I am finally doing what I have always wanted to do: giving my characters a pulse through writing full time. I focus on adult urban fantasy romance, but I don’t like labels and I enjoy blending genres to break out of the confines of predictability.

But it’s what I love to do.

Thank you for the roller coaster ride and cliffhangers with The Mageri Series. I still say its not over. Best of wishes and good luck.

  2. I’ve already read Sterling last November or December I think. And I really enjoyed it, Lexxie but I only gave it a 3.5 star rating because I was annoyed with Zoe/Silver. And I wasn’t contented with the world building. But it sure is a series that I follows. Gods, the men are hot.

The Mageri series is one I would finish this 2014. Weee! Sorry, I have to skim through your review. I don’t want to be spoiled. 😀
