Review: Material Girls – Elaine Dimopoulus

Review: Material Girls – Elaine Dimopoulus

Material Girls definitely has a very interesting concept, in this universe, kids as young as 13 are ‘tapped’ to become fashionistas instead of going to school, they are trend-setters, making sure the people spend their money so that the rich can always become richer. My Material Girls review: Chilling is definitely a word that comes easily to mind when envisioning the kind of society that is reality in Material Girls! Both Ivy and Marla thought they were living the dream, Ivy as a very popular singer, and Marla as a judge in the superior court at one of the big five fashion houses. Setting trends, and making others obsolete at the same time was a big part of their daily […]

Review: Mortal Heart – Robin LaFevers

Review: Mortal Heart – Robin LaFevers

Mortal Heart rounded up His Fair Assassin series beautifully! With much more mythology, and the big mystery of why Annith was being left behind, I was up half the night because I couldn’t sleep until I had finished reading. My Mortal Heart review: The setting was awesome, the character development of Annith was really good, and I loved learning more about the mythology of Mortain and the other nine my favorite assassin nuns and others worshipped. Annith finally showed her backbone, and she acted according to her own beliefs rather than blindly following the abbess. And let me tell you, the abbess really pissed me off in Mortal Heart – not that I actually liked her in Dark Triumph or […]

Review: Dark Triumph – Robin LaFevers

Review: Dark Triumph – Robin LaFevers

Sybella is an amazing character to follow, and I fell in love with both her and Beast in Dark Triumph! My Dark Triumph review: Fast paced, filled with danger and intrigue, battles and battlescars, Dark Triumph kept me up part of the night, and on the edge of my seat to see how Sybella would deal with all of her problems all at once. And my dislike for Mortain’s abbess grew in this story – that woman needs to be marqued, and soon! The main character in Dark Triumph is Sybella, but Ismae and Duval show up as well, as does Beast. And d’Ablret truly showed his despicable colors in this installment as well. Filled with many characters that […]

Review: The Testing (The Testing #1) – Joelle Charbonneau

Review: The Testing (The Testing #1) – Joelle Charbonneau

*I received a free ARC of The Testing from Houghton Mifflin Books for Children via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* The Testing starts with Cia’s graduation, and the hope that she will be selected for the testing in the Commonwealth’s capital Tosu City. Several of Cia’s friens think she’ll be chosen, even if it has been a long time since any student from Five Lakes has been chosen. When no government official shows up, Cia tries her best not to show her disappointment, her oldest brother Zeen understands exactly how she feels, though. The next day, a government official arrives, though, and he wants to see Cia and three other graduates from her class. Cia is elated when […]
