Adelaide Davies is finally back in Whiskey Creek after doing her best to stay away ever since that graduation party when her whole life changed, and someone else's life ended all together. She's been trying to get on with her life, both through therapy, and by marrying (and divorcing) the wrong guy. It seems like she was right to stay away, however, because during her first night back, she is taken from her bed, bound, blindfolded and thrown down into the old mineshaft where it all started.

Home to Whiskey Creek deals with a heavier subject matter than the prior books in the series, and they weren’t all light and fluffy either! Adelaide can’t forget the graduation party that destroyed her faith in guys, and changed her life forever. Even by staying away from Whiskey Creek for thirteen years, she is weary being back – with good reason. Noah is out mountain biking when he hears a shout for help from the old mine. If there’s one place he wants to stay far away from, it’s the mine, where his brother died thirteen years ago in a cave-in. He can’t just go on his merry way, however, if someone is in need of help, he’ll do his best to give it to them.
As first meetings go, the one between Noah and Addie sure is unconventional! Home to Whiskey Creek is filled with these two characters’ past heartache, and how it has shaped their present. Both of them are doing their best to just forget the past and get on with their lives, but some things seem to not want to be left in the past, especially when it comes to Addie and Noah is very curious about why someone would throw her into the mine and leave her alone in the middle of the night. As Addie refuses to go to the hospital, saying she was only roughed up a little, Noah brings her home to her Gran. However, since Addie has been gone for almost twenty-four hours, the police is already involved.
Home to Whiskey Creek brings the past to the forefront, and the friends who meet at the café each Friday morning are all wondering about many things. When things between Noah and Braxton seem to be completely up in the air there is one more mystery for them to try to figure out. Braxton has finally come out to Noah, but not in the best way possible. Kissing your best friend full on the mouth might not be the best way to let him know you are gay, but Braxton just couldn’t take it anymore.
With these two storylines both involving Noah, he seems to be the main character, but Home to Whiskey Creek is very much Addie’s story as well. Especially as nightmares of several boys holding her down to get their way with her start to haunt her nights again, all the while someone is leaving notes on her car to tell her to go away, and stay quiet or else…
As Home to Whiskey Creek opens up for many of the secrets that have been hidden, more and more people are getting involved to try to keep everything quiet, and Addie is feeling more and more exposed. She tries her best to bury the feelings she has for Noah, but it’s difficult since he is very insistent on seeing her and getting to know her, and at the same time, he’s always so nice!
The writing is, as usual, excellent. The character development is really good, and it’s always nice to read about this band of friends, it feels as if I’m also going home to Whiskey Creek to meet up with my old friends. I really loved how the friends dealt with the outcome of Braxton’s coming out, how loving they continued to be, and how they all stood beside him. Once the truth about Addie’s part comes out, the village is split, however. Who to believe? The girl who ran away, or the men who were the stars of various sports teams, and who all are respected in the community now?
If you like stories of friendship, love, and compassion, the whole Whiskey Creek series is for you!

That’s exactly it, Brandee, reading a Whiskey Creek story is like hanging out with really good friends I haven’t had time to be with for a while! I wish I could meet Brenda Novak, too! I’m looking to see if I can make it to a convention next year… or in 2015.
