Yes, it is pretty intense, and the way she incorporates the lives of the people the letters are written to just really got to me 🙂

“Intense” is an excellent word to describe what this book sounds like 😉 Great review, Lexxie! I’ll make sure to check this one out the next time I’m in the mood for a good YA contemporary that will wreck me.

I’ve been trying to decide if I want to read this book or not as I’m not great with death as a main storyline. But the idea of the letters seems like it makes the subject easier to read. It sounds like quite a poignant story, and I like that you felt comforted while reading it – that makes me want to read it now 🙂

Amy, even if it is quite sad at times, I thought the fact that she was writing letters to dead personalities and shared her own experiences in her letters made it easier to read about.

      You should definitely try it!

I hope you’ll love it as much as I did, Kristalyn! It is really well done, and I thought that the personality of each of the people the letters were for went very well with how the heroine was feeling at the moment.

This sounds amazing, Lexxie!! I’ve wanted to read Love Letters to the Dead ever since I first read about it. It just seems like my kind of story. 😉 I’m so excited that you loved it so much!! It seems as though Laurel is having to endure so much for her young years…but doing in it such a mature fashion. Oh, I’m really anxious to read this one now! Incredible review, my dear!!

Laurel was an amazing heroine, and getting to know her through letters she wrote to people who couldn’t read them made the experience very different.

So glad to hear that you enjoyed this one, I couldn’t get into the letter writing, but should have known before I picked it up.

I have enjoyed epistolary fiction before, and a long time ago, when I had a diary, I actually made my entries out to a friend of mine who had passed away, so I could definitely relate to Laurel.

I’m hooked. I love that she sorts through stuff she probably rarely lets herself think about with these letters. Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a great week, Lexxie!

That’s exactly it, Robyn, she really lets loose with her letters to these dead personalities, and she thinks about what their answers might have been as well.

Thanks for stopping by, Robyn 🙂

Wow! This sounds like a very emotional story Lexxie! I cannot imagine that kind of heartache of having your parents split and for one to up and move away when you still need they. And to lose a sibling too…. Wow! Awesome review Lexxie!

Wonderful review. I really want to read this. I love gritty, realistic novels that touch on hard topics. It sounds like the premise works really well with the letters!
