Oh wow! I finally got to read the first Sin Brothers story – after having already read all the others, and I was still surprised by all the twists and turns. And Shane is totally hot!!

My Forgotten Sins review:

Forgotten Sins explains the back-story for the Dean brothers a little, but I hadn’t really missed that much starting reading the series with book number two. However, I had completely missed Shane’s book, and his story was mostly an enigma to me. I’m happy to say I loved every word of it, both he and Josie were great characters, and for once, I even enjoyed that one of the characters started the story having amnesia! It made the story move forward in an unexpected way, and it certainly cemented the feelings Shane had for Josie, and it also made him have to work very hard to get her to see that he really loved her.

As in the other Sin Brothers stories, in Forgotten Sins, there are traitors and bad people lurking around, and it’s not easy to figure out who or when they will make their move. I did figure out one of the bad guys, though, but I truly think I was meant to, especially because it took a long time for Josie to get it. Between someone actually getting the drop on Shane (thus the amnesia) and killers showing up at Josie’s house in the night, the suspense was ever-present, and the story was fast-paced and filled with action. The tender moments between Josie and Shane were awesome, and I loved that Josie was so strong – she even managed to get one over on Shane when she wanted to get away from him at one point.

Another thing I enjoyed in Forgotten Sins was the dynamics between the brothers, Mattie especially showed in many ways that he was the big brother, taking charge, making sure they were all safe, and doing his best to keep it that way. And even if I knew how this series ended while I was reading this, my pleasure of getting this background, the dynamics, the loyalty and the extreme strength of these brothers showed each other made it an exceptional story anyway!

Written in third person past tense, from Shane’s point of view, seeing the story of Forgotten Sins through his eyes made it intense and realistic, and I can still say this series is among my favorite romantic suspense series.

They quickly moved into formation. The commander was straight and sure, his hair cut in a short buzz. his eyes were a deep, dark black. Shane always tried to concentrate on something else when facing the commander, sure that getting lost in those black depths would mean death. He knew it somehow.

Nice of Marsh to live at the edge of the forest. So many places to hide. If the bastard didn’t take his hands off Josie, the man would die at the edge of the forest. 

The idea of leaving her, even for the right reasons, tightened his chest until he couldn’t breathe. Memories or not, she was his air.
