Part 2 in the New Adult Romantic Suspense serial, "Undercover."

Conflicted is fast-paced, twisted and filled with both tension, hope and regret.

My Conflicted review:

Oh wow! Things definitely sped up in Conflicted, and after the wild ride of Seduced, I should have expected just that! Between the very hot sex, having to make sure she kept her secrets, and Luka showing her some vulnerability, Arianna sure had her work cut out for her! It seemed as if pretending she didn’t speak or understand Russian was the most difficult part of her job in this instalment.

While I really enjoyed the story, and also the character development in Conflicted, it became more obvious that it’s very strange that Arianna was chosen for this kind of operation. She had no field experience prior to her little stunt in New York, and if Luka and his weapons-dealing is so important, it seems as if the CIA would have sent a more experienced agent for this. Yes, Luka had already shown an interest in Arianna, and it was pretty easy for her to get an in with him – but she has none of the actual hands-on training to deal with being undercover.

Luka showed a very different side of himself in Conflicted, one that made it obvious why Arianna is having trouble staying on topic, and completely on board with her mission. Showing her little glimpses into the real man, and also proving that he isn’t all bad, and would like to maybe do something else than sell guns made him seem more realistic and complex. I can’t wait to see how Arianna will deal with everything in the final story in this serial.

As with Seduced, the writing is good, first person past tense works very well for the suspense, as the readers discover everything at the same time Arianna does.

I had to run to keep up. If I’d stumbled, I honestly believe he would have dragged me along the carpet.

It soon became clear that Luka had dispensed with all of the crew who’d normally look after the yacht and its guests on a voyage.

It happened while were were at sea. There’s been a war, and we missed it. God, what if we’re the only survivors?
That’s what it looked like. Like very post-apocalyptic movie I’d ever seen.
