I am a very slow reader (especially for a librarian). I can read the words quickly but when I do, I am not processing what I am reading. So I have to S L O W down. With that being said, it can take me awhile to get through a book. I think my favorite read for 2014 was Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian. It is set in World War II – a favorite time period of mine.

Slow isn’t bad, though, Leslie! I’m a very fast reader, and I become so immersed in the stories my kids get upset with me sometimes…
      Happy Friday.

Nice choices, Lexxie! Both these books are on my tbr for 2015 – thanks to you! 😉 I’d have to really give it some thought to decide on a favorite read of 2014…and I’m sure I’d have trouble keeping it to just one. Oh, Shatter Me would probably make the list. 🙂

So many readers I trust mentioned ”One May Guy” in their favorite 2014 reads that I HAVE to get it soon. Didn’t like ”Red Rising” though. Hmm… 😛 My favorite 2014 books were definitely Captive Prince and Cracked.

Red Rising and One Man Guy are so very, very different Lola. One Man Guy is a very sweet YA story. I haven’t read the Captive Prince yet, and I don’t think I’ve heard of Cracked. Now I’m curious 🙂

    – I have heard of Red Rising, but interestingly enough, most of the reviews I have stumbled upon have been negative! I’m going to read yours!

    – I was pondering on this the other day, on the fact that there aren’t many male authors that have snagged my attention; the only male author that actually moved me to tears was John Green. However, I’m reading a novel right now Emissary, Legends of the Realms by Thomas Locke, and I’m fully engrossed! I actually enjoy reading books by male authors more than females, but I think that is owing to the fact that I love chaos and tactical plots 😛

If you enjoy intrigue and chaos, Red Rising would actually be the perfect kind of story for you, Claudia. There is plenty of both, and the world building is so well done.
I haven’t read any Thomas Locke yet, I need to check him out 🙂
      Happy Reading.
