Weekend Wrap-up #346 – It’s the End of Summer

Posted 20 August, 2021 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Reviews / 14 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #346

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

No books – like, none at all!!

The Sunday Post #275 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

On Friday morning, the mister and I went for a hike on Salève (a small mountain in France, very close to our house) and it was really nice. Even if I needed a nap in the afternoon 😉

Trees in the foreground, in the background, blue sky and some clouds, and down there's a small village
View from a little bit up above…

Also, on Friday, my mom arrived for a week-long visit. I haven’t seen her since October 2019, so it is just awesome to finally have her here again!

This Week’s Puppies in Action:

Me sitting in a red chair with my bookshelves behind me, and the dogs on my lap.
As soon as I sat down to read, the dogs jumped on me to participate 🙂

  1. I’m glad you were able to have a nice walk and visit with your Mom. I haven’t seen mine since Oct 2019 also and am trying to figure out when I could work it out.

Well I haven’t finished my Sunday post but it will be at this link on Sunday.

Breathtaking view of the city below. Haha, reading is a group activity. Yay that your mom could come for a visit.

  4. How lovely to enjoy a hike, a well-deserved nap and finally see your mum! ? I sadly haven’t been able to see my mum, who lives in France, in ages due to the everchanging UK travel restrictions – Hopefully soon! ?

Fantastic news that you got to visit with your mum! I’m currently visiting my mum for the first time since Dec 2019 and I just can’t believe how much Covid has taken from us time wise… But at least we’re all okay and safe!

I hope you have a good week. 🙂

  7. Wishing you a wonderful time with your mom. Enjoy every moment of her stay. Thank you for sharing the beautiful picture. I love the one with the dogs in the chair *smile* Have a great new week and happy reading.

  8. I love that view! How nice. And I hope you have a great visit with your mom!!! That’s great you can finally see her again.

Take care and be well this week. 🙂

Sounds like a great week. And yea for Mom able to visit. It had only been 9 months for me seeing my parents this summer and that was so wonderful. When are you back in the classroom? My kids start Sept. 1st.

Just curious but when you hike a mountain near your home but in a different country do you have to do a border crossing and show your passport? So glad you get to see your mom. I haven’t been back home to see my family for over 3 years and now with my health problems I wonder if I will ever get back. I’m homesick!

    • We do cross a border, but we don’t have to show our passport – however, we do need to have an identity card (or passport) with us in case there’s a need to show it. There are so many border crossings between Geneva and France I wouldn’t even know to tell you how many. Close to my house (in a 2 km radius) there’s at least 10-15.
It was awesome to see my mom, and I miss her already! However, I’m so thankful I finally got to see her again. I hope you’ll be able to get back home and see your family soon, Lorna <3
