Posted 1 September, 2018 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 50 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #246

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

See how well I did? Only one book – I think it’s a new record.

Purchased - (un)Conventional Bookviews bought borrowed and bagged stacking the shelves

Magic Triumphs cover - (un)Conventional Bookworms - Weekend Wrap-up

Magic Triumphs was one of my most anticipated releases for this year, and power-couple Andrews blew me away! It was such a perfect ending to the the Kate Daniels series!

The Sunday Post #196 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

The first week of school was exhausting! I had forgotten how hard it is to be ‘on’ all the time in class 🙂 I have met all my new students, and I think we’re going to have a great year together. And I have to get used to this rhythm as soon as possible, as my Uni classes start in two weeks.

BookBinge has a list of Books to Binge on in September, and it’s yummy!

The Bookish Wormy has done a great Beauty and the Beast Tag this week, definitely worth checking out!

Kristina @ Books and Dachshunds wonders: Do DNF Books Count as Finished Books?

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. School is starting everywhere! I find I don’t really miss those days! I like being able to read my books when I want to and not have to worry about papers and all that homework! LOL.

Nice new read! Sadly never could get into that series but was always happy to see so many others did enjoy it! Hope you enjoy this one too!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. RO

Kudos to you for getting it all done, despite the exhaustion, and there’s sure nothing wrong with a little puppy love this weekend! Hugs…RO

  3. Glad your students are a great group and hopefully you’ll get in the swing of things quickly.

Magic Triumphs was a must read for me, too.

    Look at Freddy lounging. 🙂

  4. Yes that first week back to teaching is a whole other level of exhausting! I just finished week 2 and am finally not needing a nap as soon as I get home. But, I also got sick this week. Boo!
    Have a great week!

  5. From what I’ve seen so far it seems like people are liking the Kate Daniels conclusion, which is nice! And I can only imagine how tough a first week is, when you’re teaching! Glad it went well otherwise though.

Hope you have a nice weekend Lexxie. 🙂

  6. I hope your second week will be less exhausting, Lexxie! In Belgium school starts on monday again. I already feel sorry for my little brother but also excited because he’s going to his second year in secondary school. And he’ll be starting to take the public bus to school on his own this year as well. Why do they grow up so fast. *sobs*

  7. aww thank you for including my post !!

We start school on tuesday here, as monday is a holiday for us (though I open the store, aha!) – hopefully you get use to it pretty quickly 🙂 the weeins are so adorable in thoses pictures -aah !

  8. Magic Triumphs should be good! I haven’t read it yet, but given it’s an Ilona Andrews book, it has to be, right? 🙂 Welcome back to school! It sounds like you had a good first week back. My daughter has been back in school for three weeks now and it’s been good so far. Love the puppies! I hope you have a great week!

    • It was awesome! And you should read Iron & Magic first – if not, there are some things you might not understand.
Three weeks already? How long was your summer vacation? We have eight weeks off, but it starts at the very end of June.
      Have a great week yourself.

  9. New banner, new look 🙂 I love how you put both of you of the banner. This is actually the first time I’m visiting (finally back from my vacation).
Your classes have already started? For us it’s only next week. Although thankfully, I don’t have a class to teach until the week after that. I hope your classes go well 🙂

    • Yeah, high school started last week – which means I have three weeks of teaching before my own classes at uni starts. It’s going to be tough to wear both the teacher and the student hat…
I’m glad you like our new banner – we’re very happy with it 🙂 Have a great week Evelina!

  10. I loved Magic Triumphs! I’m gutted it’s over but was so happy to see one of Andrews’ blog posts stating that there will be more books in that world (beyond Hugh’s) and let’s face it, that epilogue was definitely setting up something, right?!

  11. If you have pictures of those lil hot dogs every week, I am so here for this. Love baby doxies! Also, man I remember the start of school being so much work – not only getting yourself in the groove but the kids too! I hope it goes well!

  12. All the best – I know how important these early weeks are to set the tone in the classroom. I have a couple more weeks before I start my Creative Writing classes. Look after yourself – these first few weeks are exhausting! Love the new-look site, by the way. Take care, Lexxie.

  13. I hope you get back in the swing of things quickly. For some reason I thought you were done with school? I guess I was wrong. Anyway here’s hoping you have a less exhausting time of it and that your dogs keep you calm. They say petting an animal relaxes you so Freddy and Hercules now have a good job! *Ha!* They are so cute!

    • I’m sure I will, Lorna. I was done with my Master’s in English, but I also need a Master’s in pedagogy so that I can become a full-fledged teacher 🙂 So you weren’t wrong, really.
The dogs are the best! And they sure do well at letting me pet them, and hold them 🙂

  14. I love new school years and fall weather. Neither is really happening with me. I also got Magic Triumphs and forgot to include it because I pre-ordered it last November! Plus I already read the eARC and listened to the audio for review before release day. Ooops.

I’m going to miss COYER but that just gives me the incentive to try to read freebies which are 2018 for the New Release Challenge.

I hope you have a great week! I’m hoping for a quieter and more at home one than last week. Which allows more time for reading, puppy love and cooking good food. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • I love that I have a new school year every year! It’s invigorating, even if the first week is exhausting 🙂
I had pre-ordered Magic Triumphs, too, but since it’s the only book I got last week, it was easy to include it 🙂
I’m going to miss COYER, too, but the new release challenge is fun, too.
      Thanks for stopping by, Anne!

  15. It’s such a great feeling when a series ends well. Hope the school year is off to a good start and that you’re back into the routine soon. Looking forward to your review of the new Christina Lauren book. I’m feeling confident that it’s another winner! 🙂
