Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS / BB&B - (un)Conventional bookviews

STS #238

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves these past two weeks:

I already read Atticus, and it’s one of the most heart-warming stories I have ever read. It was just so incredibly good!

The Sunday Post #188 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

I didn’t post last weekend, as Mr. Lex, and child 3 + 4, and I went to Madrid for the weekend. We had a fantastic time visiting, the city is gorgeous! The architecture is stunning, and there are parks everywhere. We ate delicious food, and tried some new wine as well. Plus, we did a bit of shopping in between sightseeing.

This week was a short one, as we had Monday off – and since that’s my biggest day of teaching, I feel so nice and relaxed.

On Tuesday next week, I’m going to New York City for BookExpo, so the blog will be fairly quiet, however, I will post on Twitter and Instagram if you want to check out the authors I’ll get to meet.

This Week’s Puppies in Action:

Cuddly dogs - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up
They are so cute when they cuddle!!
Strolling dogs - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up
On one of our walks this week – they both swam in the creek (usually, Hercules abstains) – and they left wet footprints afterwards 😀

  1. Happy weekend Lexxie! Sounds like you had a great week! And have fun at Book Expo (yay)!! Hard to believe it’s here already…

Love the pics as usual! They seem to have become fast friends, those two 🙂

  2. I love it that you got to go on a family trip. I remember loving it when my dad would tell us to jump in the car on a weekend and take us somewhere special. Even better that you missed your hardest work day. 🙂

Nice haul this week. Atticus does look cute. I look forward to the new KA Tucker, too. Cocky Tales!

Ahhh, cute puppy pics. Neat that they went for a swim together.
Enjoy your time at Book Expo!

    • We love family trips – and what was so great about Madrid was that none of us had ever been there before, so it was discovery time for all of us.
Atticus was awesome 🙂 It is cute, but also very deep.
Next up is The Simple Wild, I can’t wait.

  3. Ooh nice new reads! Totally new to me ones! I do like the cover of Atticus!

I wish I could do BEA but I know flights to NYC are just too pricey then there’s the hotel and since I’m already struggling to find a roommate for another book event this year at a pricey hotel, I know I wouldn’t be able to afford a hotel there either. I hope you have fun though! I need to try to get back to BEA one of these days since it seems like it will never come back to Chicago.

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  4. Have a great time in NY_hope you have a blast-I will be looking at the instagram photos!! Nice books this week, I entered a contest on goodreads to win the 14th of September!! Cute doggies!!

  5. Whoaaa Cocktales sounds and looks so freaking awesome! 😮 Have fun at BookExpo. It always looks so amazing (aside from the crowds D:) but luckily there’s social media so I’m looking forward to seeing your posts on Instagram of it!

I got some awesome books today at a bookfest but I’m posting it next saturday. ^_^

    • And it’s a HUGE book, too, 900 pages!
The crowds can be kind of hard sometimes, but usually, the convention centers have really high ceilings, so it feels less crowded than it is.
I look forward to seeing your book fest books next week.

  6. There’s my puppies….oops, your puppies but you know what I mean. I love seeing them cuddle. I don’t know how to go about getting a copy of Atticus so I gave up and preordered. I’ve gotta have that one.

    • I know exactly what you mean, Barb 🙂 I love that they have gotten settled with each other now – and when they cuddle like that, my heart just melts.
I’m on Sawyer Bennett’s review team, and this title is self-published, I think. I have it on pre-order as well, though, I want more books like it!

  7. Ooh, you got The Poppy War. That has been, um, escalated last week or so? But I’ve heard it’s very good.

Oh yeah, I also read it on Twitter today and Fail-leena called romance readers simple-minded and that they only choose books based on naked males on the cover. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT. She said that about her own readers. I can’t even!! How… How x_x

And your little fur babies are as adorable as ever 🙂

    • Yeah, I just didn’t get why people thought the author was ‘off’ in any way for stating this book isn’t YA. I can’t wait to read it.
Also – see how many bare-chested men are on my list this week? 😀 I just don’t understand that woman. Plus, that was written in the court-documents she used to sue three people on Friday *sighs*

      • Wait, that was in the court documents. THAT’S WHY she was so pissed off they went public then!! 😀 OMG wow…

And yeah, I also totally don’t get why people were so annoyed at the Poppy War author. I think it’s totally right that we should mark possibly triggering books as possibly triggering. I would even vote for labels, like we have for movies, you know? Like, you won’t call a triggering movie “a movie for teens”. That would be ridiculous. Yet, somehow they think that’s okay for books? I don’t get it. The author just wanted to protect people from being triggered and that’s the right thing to do.

Any book with a cute dog on the cover, just has to be a fantastic read, and I’m glad you liked Atticus. Glad you had fun in Madrid. I need to check your Instagram for possible pics, and I bet the food was pretty amazing! Dang it Lexxie – I can’t believe I’ll miss you in New York by just a week!! I’ll be going there to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and I would have loved to meet you for a cup of tea! Sure hope you have tons of fun and share lots of pics! hugs…RO

  9. I thought hard about joining COYER but I think I don’t have the time at the moment ?
Ohhh I’ve never travelled to Madrid.
Enjoy NY! I can’t wait for your pics.

      • You haven’t seen my schedule! 😀
No, it’s not that…I was actually almost done with my sign-up post when I gave it another thought. On some days I don’t even make it to my laptop…I think I’ll wait for the next challenge. 🙁

  10. The dog on the cover of Atticus is adorable. I’m glad you had fun in Madrid, and I hope you have tons of fun in New York. I really want to go there someday. Enjoy your new books. Have a good week!

  11. I’m so sad I’m missing BEA this year. I hope you have a fantastic time!!

One funny thing – as I was scrolling down this post, I quickly saw the cover for The Boyfriend Experience with your caricature head above it, and I thought your head was part of the cover! LOL! Your head is lined up almost perfectly with Mr. Headless Man. 🙂
