Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #208
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
Thank you to the publishers, NetGalley and Edelweiss!
The Sunday Post #158 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
On Sunday, Hercules and I went by plane from Oslo to Zurich, then by train from Zurich to Geneva. And he slept during the plane ride, it was such a nice change from flying with Freddy;) At first, Freddy was very suspicious of the tiny, growling puppy, but they have become rather friendly, even if I won’t leave them alone together for the time being.
We’re straight in the middle of mid-semester tests these days, and I’ve been creating new tests for my classes. Some had theirs last week, which means I won’t really have much time off this weekend. Also, both my boys have hockey games in Geneva this weekend, so I might not be around much. I will do my very best to visit back, though, as I always appreciate seeing what everyone else has been up to lately.
(un)Conventional Bookviews has been mentioned on two blogger appreciation sites, and I’m happy and flattered to be surrounded by some amazing blogs over there! I always think of my blog as a tiny little space on the internet, where I interact mostly with blogger friends, and didn’t realise that other people might be reading my posts as well. Check out Top Book Review Blogs and The Writer Awards to see the great company I’m in.
This week’s puppies in action:
- [12 Oct] Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #132 – Sure Thing
- [14 Oct] Weekend Wrap-up #208 – Two Puppies are Better than One!
I haven’t been a very good blogger lately… Hopefully, I’ll be able to write some reviews and other posts this weekend, in between correcting tests and preparing more lesson plans.
- [19 Oct] Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #133 – The Bone Witch
- [20 Oct] Safe and Sexy #27 – Holiday Wishes
- [21 Oct] Weekend Wrap-up #209 – Fall Break for the Win!
Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

Congrats on your new baby! He is so cute! We kept out pets separate for a while before leaving them alone. I am glad they are getting along.
It’s nice to be recognized! You are one of my favorite bloggers so I can see why everyone loves you! You are such a sweetheart! Miss your face lots and lots.
Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox
Thanks, Michelle 🙂 Freddy is actually very careful with Hercules, but Hercules doesn’t always show him the same courtesy 😉
Miss your face lots and lots too! I really hope we’ll be able to see each other next year. xoxo
So far so good with the dogs? Yay- hope they become fast friends. 🙂
And congrats on the appreciation posts!! Greatly deserved. 🙂
Yes, so far so good. They do play-fight quite a lot, but they look like they’re having fun dong it, so I guess that’s good, right?
Awww Hercules. He is just adorable. ^_^ Hope your boys have a great hockey games. It’s always nice to see appreciation posts or find your blog featured somewhere. It’s a great feeling. Have a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead.
I know, right? The two of them together are pretty darned cute, too 🙂
I think about that sometimes, like, I feel sad when I don’t get a lot of comments some days because I feel like my blog is just this tiny place where I interact with my bookish friends, but then I wonder if maybe there are people out there who visit and enjoy my posts but just don’t comment. Anyway, congrats on the blogger recognition award stuff! You deserve it 🙂
Thanks Kristen!
Yes, sometimes, it does feel like there aren’t that many people stopping by, but that’s OK. Enjoy your weekend!
OOh nice new reads! All totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them both!
It’s been so long since we added our second dog to our other dog. So they have an age difference. I can’t remember how the first one handled the new puppy. Though it wasn’t too long before they became partners in crime! It’s also funny that the first dog was pretty energetic and crazy…though he’s still kinda crazy now, lol and when we got the second he calmed down, but the second was taking over the energetic role!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Our dogs are only 19 months apart in human months, so I really hope they’ll have a lot of fun together!
Freddy is pretty mellow, but Hercules has a new nickname… the little Tazmanian Devil 😀

COngratulations on getting featured 🙂 Those puppies are really cute. Happy reading 🙂
My STS
Thank you Sim!
Both of your puppies are so adorable! It sounds like you are going to have a busy week. I hope you find time to get some reading in! Have a great weekend!
Here’s mine: STS
Thank you Jamie 🙂 We only have next week of work and school, then we have a week of fall break 😀 We can hardly wait!
Awww, the puppy is adorable! I’m glad he behaved on the trip home. Have a great week.
Me, too! It was so nice 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Awesome haul. Sometimes they get upset when you bring in a new dog. Then they become friends after a while. Great looking reads.
Grace @ Books of Love
Yeah, Freddy is definitely a little jealous. And he has been slightly upset with me – but it seems to be all good now.
Awe they look so sweet! The books look good too 😉 I hope you enjoy them!
Thanks Eve!
Oh the new puppy is adorable! I am glad he and Freddie are getting along!
Me, too, Samantha!
Yay, glad to hear you and Hercules have arrived safely and Hercules is starting to settle. It takes time for him to be friends with Freddy but they will. Ahh I remember our struggles when Momo came. Now they’re best friends. ?
My weekend has turned out to be busier than I thought it would be. I hope I could have the time to read too. I hope you will have sometime to read this weekend. Have a wonderful weekend and week ahead. ❤️?
Yes, we let them take the time they need 🙂 Freddy is a bit jealous, but he’s also happy to have a little puppy to play with and boss around in the garden.
I hope you’ll find time to read tomorrow! I have almost finished correcting and grading tests, so I hope I’ll be able to read tomorrow, too. Even if I should spend some time writing reviews 😉
Nawww, puppies!
Hope you enjoy the new books! I am hiding from the Christmas books starting to show up… it can’t be that soon, can it?!
My STS.
I got my first Christmas book ages ago… but I haven’t started it yet 🙂
Cute puppies!
I see that you loved Without Merit…I have it, and hope to read it soon. The Spring Girls is on my wish list.
Congrats for your Blogger Appreciation mentions…
Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Yes, I absolutely loved Without Merit – I hope you will, too!
Thanks for stopping by Laurel-Rain 🙂
Hercules is seriously the cutest! ^_^ I didn’t get any books this week except for some freebies from Hourly History but I didn’t make a STS post just for that. There are some new releases I’m getting on my Kindle next week, though. 🙂
That face just do me in every day, Stephanie.
WOW, no new books? That’s amazing 🙂
Your books look great but the pups look better!
I totally agree, Barb!
I am waiting for Holiday Wishes! Hope you enjoy all your books!
Here’s my STS
I just started reading it, and I already love it 🙂

OMG I had no idea you are located in Switzerland – how cool!!! I’m originally from Germany, but at the moment in California at home.
I finished Sure Thing as well, and truly enjoyed the banter and british hottie. Aston surely knows how to entertain. 😀 Without Merrit has been on my tbr but I’m not sure if I’ll pick it up. Her books are incredibly emotional and I hate to cry. 😀 The book by Jill Shalvis looks awesome, can’t wait to see what you think.
I didn’t know that about you, either, Corina 🙂 I’ve never been to California, one day I’ll make it there.
Aston’s witty banter is always fun, and I’m glad you enjoyed Sure Thing, too!
I started Shalvis’ story last night, and I already love it. Her characters are golden.
Congrats on being mentioned on the best blogs! I hope I could get a mention someday.
Thank you Ronyell. I was very surprised! And of course happy. I hope you’ll get a mention one day, too 🙂

He is just too cute, and so is Freddy. Glad he makes a good traveling companion. Good luck to the kiddos with their hockey games. Our son played Rugby and we miss the weekend games. Enjoy your new lovelies. Congrats on your Huss win too!
I agree, of course 🙂 They’re both cuties.
Both of my guys lost… but the oldest was still happy with his game, as he played really well.
😀 I can’t wait to receive my singed Huss book 😀 Have a great week, Kim.
Glad the puppies are starting to get on – very cute. I would love a dog but have a cat so not sure that will ever work. Have a good week.
I guess it would depend on your cat, right? Have a good week yourself.

Hahaha suspicious Freddy 😀 was it tough/expensive to bring the little puppy baby on the plane?
Your puppies are incredibly adorable. I just want to reach into the photo and pet them!
Have a great week, Lexxie 🙂
It cost $60 to bring the puppy, and it was actually fairly easy, as he stayed calm in his cage the whole time.
They love being petted, so continue trying, Evelina 😉
Twitter: avalinahsbooks
That’s very cheap! My friend brought her cat over from Korea, they had to get over so much legal. medical and transportation crap it easily cost them around 1000$ o.o I know right. So I’m glad it was easier for you. Europe, I guess 🙂
I have no idea if it costs more on international flights like that. But our dogs are small enough to be brought on the plane as hand luggage 😉
Twitter: ailynk
he is soo cute! glad they got along eh
Me, too, Ailyn!
I love to travel. How lovely for you to be in Europe where you can visit so many amazing places!
Congratulations on the mentions! I guess we never know who is reading….
I love to travel, too, Deb. And I am indeed lucky to live in Europe, it’s both easy and quite cheap to travel here.
Thank you!
The dogs look adorable – but of course the puppy won’t have the same manners as Freddy yet. And congratulations on the mentions – I’m not surprised as your site is beautifully presented and always full of content. I hope the coming week isn’t too hectic:) My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/10/13/friday-faceoff-you-have-nice-manners-for-a-thief-and-a-liar/
I know, and it’s really funny, because Freddy polices Hercules. When Hercules does something Freddy knows he’s not allowed to do, he barks and herds Hercules away 😀
Thank you Sarah 🙂
Hercules is so cute! I hope you’ll enjoy your new books girl. Happy reading!
I agree Melliane! Thank you 🙂
Puppy Power! LOL Sounds like Hercules is trying to live up to his name. They look so cute together and I bet before you know it that will be best buddies:) Great books this week too, Lexxie:)
My Sunday Post
LOL puppy power indeed 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Laura.
Baby did not want Cera when we brought her home. They are friends now and at times BFFs, but they definitely have their moments. Baby doesn’t appreciate having to share attention, and Cera just steals it, so Baby goes to hide, which I hate. Then she gets grumpy when The Man or I smother her. They both like having their own space and won’t sleep in the same place at night. If Baby is on the couch, Cera is in the guest bed or vice versa. It’s not what I pictured when we brought Cera home. Hopefully, Freddy realizes how cool Hercules is! I hope you enjoy what little of a weekend you get!
Freddy isn’t all happy I brought a baby dog home with me from Norway, but he’s also having fun with him, and when they cuddle together, I totally melt. I do hope they’ll become best friends, because we already love them both so very much.
Have a great week yourself.
I haven’t heard of any of your new books. Thanks for sharing those and your adorable doggie pics! Have a great week.
My STS/Sunday Post
Thanks, Jen, you too!
Looks like Hercules is settling nicely into the family. He is adorable. I am looking forward to Without Merit.
I hope you’ll enjoy Without Merit as much as I did, Nise’ 🙂
Oh my gosh I haven’t been here in forever! I’m finally back to blogging consistently and just had to stop by to say hi and to see what goodies you’ve been reading. My son has been begging me to get him a puppy, so we’re getting him one very soon. He already has a cat so it’ll be interesting to see he manages both. It’s good to see you again!
YAY for being back to blogging again, Tina 🙂 And I hope you’ll find the perfect puppy to get along with both your son and the cat 🙂
Puppies are so pretty. OMG – HUGE kudos for the recognition. You deserve it! Hugs…RO
I know, those puppies make my heart swell. Thank you Ro and hugs back.
Twitter: avalinahsbooks
The most they paid was all sorts of certifications about the cat’s health and permits. All the paperwork, basically. Glad it’s easier to transport doggies in Europe 🙂
Here, we can just ask to get a pet passport when we get the puppy, and that’s free of charge. It’s used to track all vaccinations and other stuff, too, so that we can travel anywhere without trouble.
Oh the cuteness of those two little ones!
Best wishes for the mid-term exams.
Congratulations on the recognition! Very nicely done!
Thanks Xyra 🙂

Glad they are getting a long. I’m sure they will inseparable soon. I see you have the new Tiffany Reisz book. I still need to get caught up. I have The Night Mark that I still need to listen to very soon.
