Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

The Sunday Post #143 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

It was the last week of school for my youngest, and I had some work on Monday only. I am happy to say that my students who hadn’t passed the year have been allowed to do the year over again, and that makes me really happy!
It’s nice to be off for a while, and even more so because I actually have a teaching position for the fall! I’m so very happy about that, I’ll get to have my four classes from start to finish, which is the first time ever!

The weather has cooled down considerably, and it’s so nice to be able to sleep again 🙂 It’s heaven, really. Next week, we’re leaving for Spain, and youngest, plus Freddy, and I will stay there for most of the summer, while the rest of the family will come and go as they have time off.

This Week’s Freddy in Action:
Freddy lounging in the sun – and so much happier since it’s a lot cooler!

  1. I think Freddy is getting ready for his next holiday! He looks pretty chilled out. I’m also glad it has cooled down a bit here. It seems to go from heatwave to winter every few days. Good news for you about your teaching position-you must be pleased about that! Have a great weekend!

  2. Eve

Not familiar with these titles but I hope you enjoy them! I’ve been really into audiobooks as of late so cheers to happy listening! Also sigh I wish it would cool off in my neck of the woods…

  3. Oh nice! I clearly don’t travel enough! I’d love to be able to go to different places all the time. But it’s so expensive these days! Especially now that I am hearing horror stories about books not being allowed in your carry on! What’s up with that?! Plus with my current job vacation time isn’t easy to come by. Hence why I’m looking around! It’s definitely more relieving to look for a new job quietly while still maintaining employment! Glad things went well with your school year and students! That’s always a relief! Hope you have a great summer!

Nice new reads too! Totally new to me ones but still hope you love them all!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I’m lucky travel within Europe is quite affordable. And about the books, I think you’re allowed to have books with you, you just have to take them out of your bags when you cross security, so that there can’t be anything hidden within… I haven’t had to do that, even when I left the US after RT in May.
      Thanks for stopping by, Jessica.

  4. That’s great news about your students, and your teaching position as well! Good for you Lexxie! And enjoy Spain- sounds wonderful. I’ll bet Freddy will enjoy dipping in the ocean a bit? 🙂

    • Freddy will go crazy wanting to swim in the sea! Good thing there’s a special dog beach there 🙂 We just have to make sure we get there early in the morning, as big dogs running around free tend to scare both him and me 😉
Thanks for stopping by Greg 🙂

  5. Great that you’re off for the summer and already have word about a fall teaching spot. A cool down is nice. We got one just today after a storm blew through.

Have a good time in Spain. I got Wicked Bite, too. Love that its Bear’s story. 🙂

  6. How great that you guys have this place in Spain where you get to spend your summers. I bet it’s lovely! 😉
Good to hear the weather has cooled down. Here is has cooled down too, but there has been a lot of rain too, which makes me wish the hot weather was back.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  7. Ooh, going to Spain 🙂 have a good trip! I kind of wish I had a vacation long enough to *stay* anywhere nice 🙂 I don’t think I’m going anywhere at all this year. Oh well!

  8. I have been so MIA… I am so happy for you that you have a REAL teaching job and for the full year next year!! It must feel sooooo freaking rewarding 🙂 Back to Spain and the coast… yay!!!!!

Oh, and nice books, too!! I have Showalter’s book, too 😉 Is it totally wrong I’m jumping in? It said I could. And I won’t hold it against it, either!!

    Have a safe trip!!!

  9. I need to try Langlais. The cover has me thinking the series is fun. So excited you will have your students for the full year. It is good for them and you. Hopefully, it will develop into a permanent position 🙂 Enjoy your time off 🙂

  10. RO

Congrats on getting a job that you really want. That’s the best gift. Many years ago where I lived, I remember that it was a rule for kids in high school to have to pay to repeat a class, so that motivated a few for sure. Thank goodness you’re feeling some cooler weather. It’s exactly the opposite here. Give me 50-60 degree weather with a few snow days, and I’d be a happy camper. Enjoy your vacay, and I always smile when looking at pics of your puppy. Hugs…RO

    • You’re right, Ro. I’m so happy to know I’ll have several classes, and that I’ll be with them for the whole school year 🙂
We had temps in the upper 90s here for a while, and there’s no AC in houses here, so it killed me at night – no sleep! Now, it’s around 75 in the day, and cooler in the night, so much better.
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂 {{{hugs}}}

  11. Congratulations on the teaching job! Now you can really enjoy your time of in Spain and not worry about the fall. I really liked the first book of J.A. Huss’ Turning series and I need to get the other books. I hope you have a good week and a safe trip to Spain!

  12. What a marvellous prospect – spending the summer in Spain:). Especially given that you have now got an established position coming up in September – congratulations – you have worked so hard for your success! In the meantime, hope the packing goes smoothly and enjoy the anticipation, Lexxie!

  13. The heat in Europe was brutal! The 2 weeks we were there, it was 100 degrees F in Paris. It was 95 in London! Thankfully, by the time we got to Brussels, it had cooled back down. Those temps are pretty normal here where I live in the states, but we have air conditioning everywhere.
    Enjoy your time in Spain!

  14. I loved all your reviews for Jay Crownover books. I love the author. Wow, you have a wonderful family vacation planned for next week. That sounds awesome. I hope you’ll have fun there. Enjoy your books and happy reading. ?

  15. Such a great list of authors and the covers….so pretty! Freddy looks so debonair. LOL Lucky you for cooler weather and spending the summer in Spain! Wow. It’s really heating up here. Muggy and in the 90s with heat indexes well over 100! The pool is my lifesaver. LOL And yeah for your classes this fall!

  16. Christy LoveOfBooks

Hooray for the teaching job! That’s awesome news! Ahh and enjoy your time in Spain.

  17. That’s awesome for your kids. Also great to hear that you have a full-time teaching gig. I’m excited to hear your thoughts about this Eve book. I almost grabbed it, but found that listening to too many series with Chandra Skyye narrating doesn’t work for me. So, I’m just sticking with the dragon series for now. I might pick these up to read.

  18. I hope we can get some cooler weather soon. That’s great that your kids can redo their year. Awesome that you have a fall position – it is hard walking in already behind. Spain sounds like so much fun. I hope you all enjoy the rest of summer. And yes, I’m back now…for real. 🙂
