Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #181
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
Thank you, Charlesbridge Teen, Grand Central / Forever Publishing, and NetGalley.
Thank you, HarperCollins and Edelweiss!
And I continue to add paperbacks to my collections so that I can make sure I’ll get them signed at various book festivals :
The Sunday Post #131 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
The end of this week was like a whirlwind of good news! I now have a full contract of the rest of the school-year, which is really good! I managed to get them to put in a week off for me in May, as I am going to Atlanta for the RT Booklovers convention then 🙂 Hopefully, this will also make it easier for me to find a job for next year, once I start my Master in Advanced Secondary Education.
The weather has been really nice, everything in the garden is blooming, the cherry tree, the plum tree, all the bushes, the roses… It looks so lush a beautiful.

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
You hauled in quite the loot this week, wifey! Congrats and I hope you enjoy them all. 🙂 Congrats also on your good news – even better news that your trip here isn’t an issue with your new job. 😉 I’d be quite disappointed if I didn’t get to see you. Freddy looks like he’s enjoyed the weather this week. We’re getting some Colorado spring….SNOW! We’re forecast to get between 1 and 2 feet this weekend with another major storm arriving on Tuesday. I can’t complain though. We need it. 🙂
Enjoy your weekend!!! Miss you much and I send LOVE & {{{BIG HUGS}}}
Yeah, my hauls are too much these days, Brandee… but I just can’t help myself.
I told the school that I couldn’t sign the contract if they didn’t agree to my week off, as I had scheduled that trip a long time ago. And I know they really wanted me so the students get continuity.
You’re getting SNOW?!? Oh my! I’m kind of happy we don’t have any more snow, but today has been hell for my allergies. I think I have sneezed at least a couple of hundred times.
Have a great weekend yourself, wifey-dear. Love and miss you! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
Congratulations on your contract – and negotiating that week in May for the convention! Once I am established in my forever house, I’d like a cherry tree. I’ve always thought them quite pretty.
Thank you, Charlie!
I felt the same way about a cherry tree, so the first summer we spent here, we got a cherry tree that we planted. It’s amazing how much it’s grown in ten years! Not only is it pretty, the cherries are also delicious 😀
Yay for the new contract and wonderful that you’re seeing some nice spring weather.
I got the latest Rebecca Zanetti, too!
Have a good weekend, Lexxie!
WooHoo for the latest Zanetti, Sophia Rose 🙂
Nice to see Freddy enjoying his new bed and spring walk! I could happily curl up in my bed today as I just can’t seem to wake myself up today! Congrats on your job news too!
Freddy is cool, he enjoys most anything as long as he’s with us 🙂
Thanks, Chuckles, and I hope you’ll feel better.
All those Colleen Hoover books! *heart eyes* And of course I love that copy of Unseen Messages, one of my favorite books of Pepper Winters.
And Freddy looks so cute with his new bed and blanket! <3
I know! I love CoHo so much 🙂 I haven’t read Unseen Messages yet, but I look forward to it knowing it’s one of your fave 🙂
Freddy loves that blanket, and I love seeing him under it like that 🙂 It’s like he’s playing hide and seek.
Congrats!! That’s awesome!! I sooo wish I could attend RT this year! I haven’t been since 2014 and oh gawd that’s just too long!! Next year it’s Reno and I didn’t feel up to Vegas last year so this just feels like a laugh in the face by moving it to a similar city. Sigh…maybe 2019?
Nice new reads too! Totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them all!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Oh how I wish you were coming to Atlanta, Jessica, since we missed meeting up in Chicago last year. I’m not sure I’ll be able to continue to go to US book conventions in the future, as the usually happen while school is still on here…
Congrats on the job, and I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a great week!
Thank you, AJ!
I love the covers of both Colleen’s books (Maybe Someday & Ugly Love).. 😀 oh Freddy is so CUTE.. He’s like my Momo’s twin. 😀
I’m curious about your five starred books (Wasted Lust & On Second Thought). Which one should I purchase? I can only purchase one this month. 🙁
Thanks for sharing, Lexxie. Have a great weekend.
I love having different covers for CoHo books, as I just love her writing so much. You should put up some photos of Momo in your Sunday post, Geybie 🙂
Wasted Lust is a bit dark and gritty, and I think it’s easier to understand if you read some of the other Rook and Ronin (universe) books before it. On Second Thought is a standalone… Both are awesome!
Love all those CoHo books!! I’m not heading to RT this year because I decided to just do ALA instead (since it’s right here in Chicago), but I LOVED it when I went, so I’m hoping to do it next year!
That’s too bad, Nicole! I may not be able to go to RT in the future, as it’s during the school-year. And when I’ll have a full-time position, there’s no way I’ll be able to take time off 🙁
I’m sure ALA will be fun, though.
Darn! Now I’m even more sad I’m not going! Our homeschooling co-op school year ends earlier than most, so I have a bit more flexibility with that.
Freddy is adorable. Love the pictures. That’s great that you got your contract for school set. I did some gardening this month and am looking forward to the flowers I planted to bloom. Hope you enjoy your book haul. Have a fabulous week!! ^_^
It was definitely a good week, Angela 🙂
I’m glad you got some gardening done! Seeing the garden come to life is always such a good feeling.

Congrats on the contract! Lots of great reads and Freddy pics! 🙂
Thanks, Stormi 🙂
I haven’t heard of any of these, but I feel like I need to add them all to my TBR now because they all look so good, wow. What a good book week! Thanks for sharing XD
The CoHo books are always very good, Chelsea, I absolutely love her writing! Thanks for stopping by.
Freddie looks like he has tired himself out. You have a great haul of books this week. Blood and Ink is new to me. I’m not going to RT, but am going to BEA, because it’s back in New York this week.
Grace @ Books of Love
Yeah, Freddy usually tires himself out every day 🙂 He’s so funny! I am sad I won’t get to see you at any cons, Grace, but I totally understand doing BEA as it’s in your home state.
Congratulations on the teaching job! I wish I could go to all these book conventions, but (alas) I don’t have the means to do that. I do go to a lot of book events in the San Francisco Bay area to make up for that. Have a great week.
Thank you, Ardis 🙂 I’m really happy about that, as it will also look very good on my CV. Plus, it’s nice to know my work schedule for the rest of the year. Up until now, it has been week by week, sometimes month by month 🙂
Up until last year, there were hardly any book events close to where I live, so if I wanted to meet authors, I had to come overseas. And the RT convention is a fave of mine, because there are so many authors and bloggers I know (at least Twitter-handle know 😉 ) there.
Wow…another Rebecca Zanetti book I need to add to my list!! I am also loving the spring weather here, alhough we didn’t really get a winter so just enjoying the comfortable weather before it gets too hot. Hope you enjoy the ARC’s you got. And hope you have fun in Atlanta when you come over.
Zanetti’s romantic suspense stories are SO good, don’t you think?
I’m sure Atlanta will be fantastic, I will be rooming with Brandee, and I love spending time with her away from the computer 😀
Congrats on getting the full contract, that’s awesome! I knew you could do it. 😀 One day, I hope to go to RT! I think I would have a blast. I’ll settle for Apollycon ’18 for now, since it’s coming to D.C. 😉 I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
Have a fabulous weekend, Lexxie. =)
Check out my STS post!
I’m so happy about the contract, Alyssa, you can’t even imagine! It’s going to make my life much easier until the summer vacation 🙂
I am sure you’ll be able to make RT one day, and I hope that will be a year when I can make it as well!
Congrats on the contract! Also, enjoy your nice weather 🙂
I will have to wait and see how you and others like the Rebecca Zanetti book, before I decide to read it. I’m on the fence about reading her right now, because the last book I read made me uncomfortable, and I’ve heard some of her books get worse with the type of fantasies they contain.
My STS
Thank you, Jen 🙂
I love Zanetti. Sorry you were uncomfortable with her last book, that’s no good. I don’t mind bending the boundaries when it comes to reading, but I totally get that we can be quite uncomfortable at times, and that’s not what I look for in reading, either.
Ah Colleen Hoover love <3 You've got a great haul this week Lexxie! I hope you enjoy these books when you get around to them. Congrats on the contract!
CoHo for the win! Thanks, Chrissi!
Congrats on your great news! That’s wonderful! I really want to make it to a book convention one day. It sounds like so much fun. Part of me REALLY wants to go but another part of me is like….ummm I’m super awkward. I have no idea what to say to these authors and they’ll think I’m a crazy person. lol! That could just be my anxiety getting the better of me. I hope you love all of your new books and have a great week!
When I went to my first RT two years ago, I was quite nervous, too. Plus, I was meeting Brandee for the first time, AND sharing a room with her! I was afraid we wouldn’t get along as well in real life as we did online. We had a total blast, though! And truly, the book conventions are just as much about the bloggers as they are about the authors for me.
Thanks for stopping by, Julie.
Congrats on the job, Lexxie! That is awesome and it will be nice to have the experience when you are on the job hunt after finishing your Masters degree. I also picked up Lethal Lies this week and am looking forward to it. Freddy is adorable as always. I am very happy to see things little bit like spring around here as well.
Thank you, Carole! I’m very happy about the contract, both because it will make my life easier, and because of the experience I can put on my resumè 🙂
I look forward to Lethal Lies, too, I hope it’s really good!
Congrats! That’s great news!! It hasn’t quite gotten that nice here yet but we did get a lot of sunshine today, so maybe good things are in store. Freddy looks like he tired himself out. 🙂
Lethal Lies looks good too!
Thank you, Greg 🙂 I hope the weather will become more spring-like in your corner of the world, too 🙂
I saw your news on FB, but again, congrats on the contract for the rest of the year. And I’m glad you got a week off to attend RT! That’s awesome. 🙂
My dog LOVES blankets. Too cute!
Thanks, Lauren 🙂 I’m very happy about both my contract and the week off for RT 🙂 I was definitely in a position of strength, though.
Freddy loves his blanket, too.
Congratulations on getting the full contract Lexxie! That’s really awesome!
Looks like you’ve got some great new books again this week. I definitely need to read more Colleen Hoover novels. I think I just read one to be honest. I’m so behind!
Have a great week and happy reading!
Thank you, Maureen 🙂 I’m very happy. And yes, the books I keep adding to my shelves *sighs* it’s so nice and at the same time, I should really slow down a bit.
That is awesome about the full contract! Congratulations! And yay for being able to go to the RT Booklovers convention. That is all wonderful news, Lexxie.
Your new books look really good. I haven’t given Colleen Hoover a try yet, but I’ve heard great things about her books. Blood and Ink sounds really good too.
As always, such a pleasure to see Freddy. 🙂 I hope you have a great week!
Thanks Wendy, I agree! I really got the best of both worlds with this contract.
I love Colleen Hoover, and you could try with the series first 🙂 If you’re in the US, all you need to do is to download a free app.
You are seriously committed to getting books signed. 😀 And hooray for the good news. Hope it continues to work out. Does Freddy like to sleep under his blanket? My Avery does. He like to burrow under blanks to where I don’t know how he even breathes. lol
Well, yeah 🙂 Since I’ll be meeting all these awesome authors, I want to get their books signed, too 😀
Freddy definitely enjoys to hide underneath blankets and be all snug and warm 😀

You’re filling those bookshelves! Glad you managed to get the week of for RT. I wish I had booked to go, just to see everyone. Have a wonderful week Lexxie.
I sure am, Kim 🙂 I wish you were coming to Atlanta, too. It might not be too late, yet 😉
many interesting books for you! happy reading my friend!
Thanks, Melliane 🙂
Congrats on the work. Freddie sure seems to like his new digs.
It’s funny, he does enjoy his new digs, but he’ll just as often sleep on the floor 😀
I love your CoHo books! What a beautiful collection. I’m looking forward to watching the Confess TV show, but I’m going to wait until after I read the book first. It’s one of the few of hers I haven’t read yet.
I love CoHo, and those UK covers are truly beautiful IMO.
You don’t really have to read the book before you watch the show, Jackie – it’s really quite different from the book, but the most important parts of the plot, and the feels were still present.
Thanks for the information. I asked a few different people and they all said I’d need to read the book before watching the show. I’m glad I can go ahead and jump right in. 🙂
I think in some ways, you might even enjoy it MORE, Jackie 🙂 let me know, OK?

Awesome news on the contract for the rest of the year! So very happy for you ((((HUGS))))
The weather is still chilly around here, your backyard sounds amazing, I wish we had a backyard that I could plant a cherry tree.
Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! oxoxox
I’m really happy about that, Michelle 🙂
Sorry it’s still chilly over there… I’m pretty sure you’ll get spring soon enough.
Colleen Hoover is a good author!! Love those covers. Lots of goodies! Happy reading! I’m a blog follower and you can find my post for StS here if you’d like to stop by.
Love Colleen Hoover! Her writing always makes me feel some very strong emotions.
Congrats on the contract! Thats great news! Have a wonderful week!
Thanks, Samantha 🙂 Have a great week yourself!
What good news that you’ve got a Contract for the coming term:). And even more so that you have managed to negotiate a week off in May – that’s huge, as the catch with teaching is that getting time off during term is very, very difficult. Yet more adorable pics of Freddy, he’s clearly enjoying the better weather – have a great week, Lexxie:). My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/04/02/sunday-post-2nd-april-2017/
I know! It was such a relief, as it means my income is secured until the summer vacation starts 🙂 I think I got the week because I had told them from the very start that I had a trip planned (way back in January when my gig wasn’t even going to last more than a few weeks).
Have a great week yourself 🙂
Some Colleen Hoover reading candy! They are all so great. Congrats on the contract. Have a great week.
CoHo books kind of are like candy, Nise’ you’re absolutely right 🙂
Nice book haul!
Wish I could go to RT, I’ll have to wait til it comes to Dallas again.
Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen
Were you there in 2015?? That was my first RT, but I don’t think I knew you back then 🙂 Hopefully, they’ll decide to go back to Dallas so you can go.
That’s one fabulous looking blanket, no wonder Freddie loves it so much!
