Waiting on Wednesday #78
When I read the summary for Blackhearts and realized this is a loose re-telling of Blackbeard, my heart actually started beating harder, that’s how excited I was for this story! So that’s the main reason I’m waiting on it. Blackhearts is scheduled for release on February 9th, 2016 by Simon Pulse.
Blackhearts by Nicole Castroman
Blackbeard the pirate was known for striking fear in the hearts of the bravest of sailors. But once he was just a young man who dreamed of leaving his rigid life behind to chase adventure in faraway lands. Nothing could stop him—until he met the one girl who would change everything. This is their story.
Edward “Teach” Drummond, son of one of Bristol’s richest merchants, has just returned from a year-long journey on the high seas to find his life in shambles. Betrothed to a girl he doesn’t love and sick of the high society he was born into, Teach dreams only of returning to the vast ocean he’d begun to call home. There’s just one problem: convincing his father to let him leave and never come back.
Following her parents’ deaths, Anne Barrett is left penniless and soon to be homeless. Though she’s barely worked a day in her life, Anne is forced to take a job as a maid in the home of Master Drummond. Lonely days stretch into weeks, and Anne longs for escape. How will she ever realize her dream of sailing to Curaçao—where her mother was born—when she’s stuck in England?
From the moment Teach and Anne meet, they set the world ablaze. Drawn to each other, they’re trapped by society and their own circumstances. Faced with an impossible choice, they must decide to chase their dreams and go, or follow their hearts and stay.
Thanks for stopping by, have a fantastic Wednesday! Don’t forget to leave me a link in your comment so I can come and check out your Waiting on Wednesday post, too.
Oooh this one sounds really interesting! Great pick, Lexxie 🙂
I love finding different genres for upcoming books, and this one definitely sounds great 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Danielle.
I think this sounds pretty interesting too. I’ve heard the story is about his “land years” and doesn’t involve any pirate ships but it should be a good book anyway! Maybe there will be a sequel about when he becomes a pirate. Great pick!
Yes, what do pirates do when they’re not pirate-ing? 😀
Oooh nice! Pretty excited for this one too! Sounds like a fun read!
Here’s my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
🙂 For once, we’re both excited about the same book, Jessica!
This one sounds really good. I read a Backbeard story not too long ago and really enjoyed it. I do like the cover as well. Great pick!
YAY, I’m really looking forward to this, Carole 🙂 I love a good pirate story, and I think it’s going to be fun to see what he was up to in between being at sea.
This sounds great. I don’t know much about Blackbeard, but I may have to remedy that. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes, fiction is the best way to start learning about a legend… Thanks for stopping by, Keely.
You know you just added yet another book to my beleaguered TBR pile, right? 😉 Blackhearts sounds fantastic, Lexxie. Thanks for finding it for me. 😀 **BIG HUGS**
Uh Oh, Brandee… I am happy I found this for both of us! *BIG HUGS*
Great pick!! This one is on my TBR list as well!! I hope you enjoy it once you get your hands on it.

This does sound like an interesting read. Great choice!
Thanks, Majanka 🙂
What a great-sounding story of love and adventure. Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine: “JUST FALL”
I can’t wait to read it, Laurel-Rain 🙂
This was my first read of the year and I really enjoyed it a lot! 😀 The romance was great, seriously. It wasn’t what I expected, but I ended up loving it more than I thought i would!
Oh, I’m so happy you enjoyed Blackhearts, Bieke, and that you linked to your review 😀

I LOVE the cover, but tend to avoid anything pirate or soldier related. Something about books set in older times turns me off. Happy Wednesday!
Oh no! I love historical stories, where life is different and with less technology than we have now – but I enjoy it even more if the characters behave anachronistically 😀 I want it all.
I am not a pirate story fan, but my oh my a lot of people are chopping at the bit for this one! I know my sister will love it. 🙂
I haven’t seen it around all that much, but maybe that’s just me 🙂
This one is one that I’ve been looking forward to as well! I love that it’s about pirates because I’m a huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan.

I am confused. Didn’t Blackbeard kill a bunch of wives? I know you said loosely but..is this supposed to have a HEA?
I am so, SO excited for this one too Lexxie^^ I hope it delivers but so far the early reviews have been promising, which is exciting 😀 Blackbeard, pirates, historicals: what’s not to love?! Awesome pick and have a wonderful week(-end) hehe xx
I can’t wait for this one either! I’ve read a few reviews so far and most have been really positive…yay! Great pick! My WoW
