Waiting on Wednesday #72
Yet another YA story is what I’m waiting on this week. The Year We Fell Apart by Emily Martin is scheduled for release on January 26th, 2016, and I love that the heroine is prone to epic mistakes. I don’t know why, but I love quirky characters, and The Year We Fell Apart seems to have that, as well as strong friendships which I also enjoy reading about.
Few things come as naturally to Harper as epic mistakes. In the past year she was kicked off the swim team, earned a reputation as Carson High’s easiest hook-up, and officially became the black sheep of her family. But her worst mistake was destroying her relationship with her best friend, Declan.
Now, after two semesters of silence, Declan is home from boarding school for the summer. Everything about him is different—he’s taller, stronger…more handsome. Harper has changed, too, especially in the wake of her mom’s cancer diagnosis.
While Declan wants nothing to do with Harper, he’s still Declan, her Declan, and the only person she wants to talk to about what’s really going on. But he’s also the one person she’s lost the right to seek comfort from.
As their mutual friends and shared histories draw them together again, Harper and Declan must decide which parts of their past are still salvageable, and which parts they’ll have to let go of once and for all.
In this honest and affecting tale of friendship and first love, Emily Martin brings to vivid life the trials and struggles of high school and the ability to learn from past mistakes over the course of one steamy North Carolina summer.
Thanks for stopping by, have a fantastic Wednesday! Don’t forget to leave me a link in your comment so I can come and check out your Waiting on Wednesday post, too.
I love quirky characters too! Definitely looking forward to this one. 🙂
It sounds really good, and actually re-building a friendship that had fallen apart is something I’d love to read more about.
Thanks for stopping by, Lisa.
This is the first I’ve seen of this book, and yes, I so need it. It definitely sounds like my kind of book.
Yeah, it sounds like exactly my kind of book, too, Christy!
Oh, another friendship book! It’s been on my radar for a week now and I think I should add this on my wishlist.
Friendships are almost as great to read about as romantic couples 😉 Thanks for stopping by, Yani.
I also love quirky characters, so I will absolutely look out for this book in january!
Sol, varmt og blaa himmel 🙂 We are expecting snow and cold this weekend, though.
Gratulerer med dagen, Anette! Kos deg med “Lost Lake”! Jeg har ikke lest noe av Sarah Addison Allen… en forfatter til jeg burde lese 🙂
This sounds wonderful! I also like that the heroine is prone to epic mistakes. And that book cover is so pretty. I love blue covers! ♥
I agree, and I’m very curious as to the exact nature of those epic mistakes, Stehpanie 🙂
This one sounds like it’s gonna be too angsty for my tastes but because I love quirky characters I might give it a go 🙂 Great choice!
Ha! I enjoy a bit of angst every now and then, as long as it’s not accompanied by unnecessary drama, Danielle.
The main character definitely sounds clumsy and entertaining Lexxie! Thanks for the feature!
Yeah, I can’t wait to ‘meet’ her, Jeann 🙂
Nice pick! Not my kind of read but i hope you will absolutely love it!
Here’s my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I hope I will, too, Jessica!
I love YA books, especially ones with friendships and imperfect characters. This one definitely looks interesting. Hope we all enjoy it when we get to read it. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Happy Wednesday!

Imperfect characters are often the most interesting ones to get to know, I find, Shane. Thanks for stopping by!
Ooh, Lexxie! This sounds fantastic! I love quirky characters too and stories of strong friendships. The Year We Fell Apart seems like it’s going to tug at my heartstrings as well, and for some reason I also like that in a book. 😉 I’m going to add this to my tbr as well.
Happy Wednesday, my dear! Today is Berk’s 15th birthday. I can’t believe she’s 15!! Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying your day. Miss you!! **BIG HUGS**
Oh, maybe this is one we can buddy-read next year, Brandee? That would be awesome 🙂 It’s been a while already.
Happy b-day to Berk! Enjoy Starbucks 😉 I hope the power will come back when you need to go home, Brandee. Miss you, too! *BIG HUGS*
I AM DYING TO READ THIS BOOK!!I love those getting back together after falling out type of books! <3
WooHoo Aimee! I’m happy I’m not the only one who’s really excited about this one!
Great pick! I haven’t seen this one before, but it sounds like a great read. I hope you enjoy it!!
Here is my WOW: http://www.jacquesbooknook.blogspot.com/2015/11/waiting-on-wednesday-crown-by-kiera-cass.html
Yeah, that summary just got to me, Jacque 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
That is such a pretty cover. I don’t read a lot of this genre, but that may be one I decide to pick up. Thanks for sharing it!
I think it sounds like a great story, Barb, and I really look forward to it! Thanks for stopping by.
This one sounds sad, but also offers the hope of new beginnings, and I’m a sucker for that kind of story. Thanks for sharing…and here’s mine: “FIND HER”
Exactly, and I love stories where broken relationships are fixed, at least partially 🙂
Hmm…. sounds interesting, but I am waiting for reviews. My last few YA contemps have been bombs. I need something good.
I guess that’s part luck, Heidi. I’ve enjoyed the last YA reads I’ve read, so I’m all for it! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
this seriously looks so emotional
Yes, it does!
This seems like it will be really heart-wrenching and beautiful, but it’s probably not for me. I would end up sobbing and I’m not one for reading/watching tearjerkers. Still, it seems really interesting and unique.
I am – in certain cases – all for tearjerkers, Obikitty 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

I can already feel the tug on my heartstrings!
Me, too, Braine 🙂
This sounds like an interesting read Lexxie! I hope you don’t have to wait too long!
We shall see, Naomi… I keep stalking Netgalley and Edelweiss for this one 😉
I love me a quirky character read too.
The quirky is definitely part of what’s reeling me in on this one, Jennifer, and I also want to find out what kind of mistakes the MC makes 🙂
I have been looking forward to this one too! It sounds adorable and I love quirky, not perfect characters. Great pick!
I really hope we’ll both enjoy it, Grace!
