(un)Conventional Bookworms’ Book Club

Posted 20 March, 2019 by Brandee @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Discussion Posts / 12 Comments

Late last year, Lexxie and I discussed hosting a Read-Along/Book Club here on the blog. We thought it was a great way to get us all reading and discussing something TOGETHER. Here are our thoughts and we’d LOVE some feedback from you. So make sure to leave comments with your thoughts on our ideas, as well as any thoughts/ideas you may have, so we can make this (un)Conventional-ly awesome!

  • We’ll post a poll mid-month, both here on the blog and on our Facebook page, to help us choose the book we’ll be reading the following month.
  • We’ll start reading the winning book on the 1st of each month.
  • We’ll do a “book club” meeting/discussion on the last weekend of the month – on our facebook page.

We’ll probably have our inaugural read in May. 🙂

Okay, your turn. Feedback? What do y’all think? Is this something you think you’d be interested in doing? If you have book suggestions, please share them. Do you think a book a month is too little time to finish? Would you rather read a book every 2 months? As for the discussion, we’ll determine times so that hopefully ALL readers will have a chance to join. Let us know what you think!

About Brandee @ (un)Conventional Bookworms

Brandee is a mom of 3 and a soon-to-be empty nester. She is also an avid reader, a genre omnivore, and a compulsive one-clicker - but she's in recovery. Besides being a reader, she's also a writer and hopes to divide the vast quantities of spare time she'll soon have between reading and finally publishing her first book.

Sounds fun! I belong to 2 in person book clubs and it’s always fun to chat books. A live conversation would be best I think – how would you do that on FB? Not saying it doesn’t work, just I don’t know how LOL!

I’m a slower reader, especially if I can’t find the book on audio so a book every two months would probably allow me to participate more readily, but I would bet I’m among the minority on that.

What types of books are ya’ll thinking about? A specific genre? Or would you do some polls leading up to the book selection poll for genres/authors? You going new books or perhaps some older ones? Tons of questions, love the idea!

  2. Beware Of The Reader

It sounds fun and I would like to try but I can’t promise to do it every month as I am a moody reader. Would it be ok if I joined only from time to time. Oh and Daisy told me you and Lexxie will be at RARE Paris! I will be Scarlett Cole’s assistant (but we have a free time from 10 to 11:45 AM) so please come say hi!

  3. Sounds like fun! I participate in two in person book clubs too. And I’ve been buddy reading this year. It’s been fun. I personally only have my FB so that I can do instagram scheduling. In fact, someone posed as me on FB and scammed the person doing the giveaway out of $100. So I make sure not to contact anyone through that platform.

It would be neat to chat about the book in a quick and easy form! Maybe FB would work for most people. The chatting is the best part after all. ❤️

  4. I have a tight reading schedule these days and I enjoy many genres. I do have my own Read-along each year of a series, so far it’s always UF. This could be fun for stand-alones and first in a series. I think FB provides a better dynamic discussion than just commenting on a post. I may try to do some with you. Will you also do any audiobooks? That might be fun for June is audiobook month.

I’d like to try and get into this as well. It sounds like a fum way to read a book!
