Top Ten Tuesday #24 – On My Shelves Since Forever, But Not Read Yet
This week on Top Ten Tuesday is about the Top Ten My links go to Goodreads on the author name, and Booklikes on the title, to help you add more books to your own TBR in case you haven’t got these on there yet. I am actually including ten books that have been on my kindle since forever, but for some reason or other I haven’t read yet for this week, since we could choose our own Top Ten Tuesday theme.
Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go, as usual, my list is in no particular order :
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I actually bought this book while the TV show Lost was still going strong, so I’ve had this one for the longest.
Married Lovers by Jackie Collins. I had a period a long time ago when I read lots of Jackie Collins books, the intricate details of her famous (or infamous) couples are a lot of fun to read about, and I need to start reading this one, too.
The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I bought it as soon as it was published, but then I just left it sitting there.
A Special Relationship by Douglas Kennedy. I have read and loved several of his books already, but somehow, I’ve never opened this one.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold was recommended to me by a great friend, and I promptly one-clicked it only to forget I had it.
Angelology by Danielle Trussoni. I got this because it’s supposed to be great for angel mythology. And I love stories that features angels, but I still haven’t picked it up to actually read it.
Fair Game (Alpha & Omega #3) by Patricia Briggs is another one. I loved the first two books, that I read to keep me going while I was waiting for the next Mercy Thompson release way back when. I had Fair Game on pre-order, and never got to it so far.
Restoring Grace by Katie Fforde. Fforde is another author whose books I’ve loved, however I haven’t gotten to this yet, either.
The Iron Hunt (Hunter Kiss #1) by Marjorie M. Liu. I have read and loved other Liu books, and I have no idea why this one is still waiting for me to read it.
Firespell (Dark Elite #1) by Chloe Neill was added to my kindle when I first started reading the Chicagoland series. And there it is…
Can you believe I have owned all of the books above since 2012 or before? And that I keep on buying more books every single week? And requesting ARCs (which I actually read fairly quickly, thank goodness!)? I need to make some more room on my kindle, does anyone have a deserted island somewhere warm and with a beach that I can borrow for a year? The island needs running water, electricity and high-speed internet connection 🙂
Please leave me a link to your post so I can check it out!
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a terrific Tuesday, and happy reading.
I loved The Host and Fair Game. I have a mystery book my mom loaned me two years ago and I still haven’t read it yet. I’m a terrible daughter. I also haven’t gotten to Gameboard of the Gods. So many words, so little hours of quiet time!
eh, I’m going to be mean and say that keeping Gameboard of the Gods on your shelf for the time being is quite OK… You know how much I usually love RMs books, but that one was not up to par in my opinion…
Thanks for stopping by, Robyn!
Can I live on that island with you? I have so many books to read!
Yes, the more the merrier, right? As long as we all agree in advance that most of the time will be spent reading, and not chatting 😀
Can I believe it?!? *ahem* Yes, I can! I should send you a pic of books I’ve had for longer than this! LOL I loved The Host and The Lovely Bones – even though it’s a difficult read. I have Angelology on my shelf too – shocking, I know! 😉 I even have it for the same reasons you do! I’ve always wanted to read Fair Game but I haven’t yet started The Alpha & Omega series for whatever reason.
Have a wonderful Tuesday, Lexxie! We’re supposed to get snow again. 🙂 *BIG HUGS*
LOL, I think I’ve had The Time Traveler’s wife since 2006… but since I can’t remember, I went with 2010 since that’s when I joined Goodreads.
The Alpha and Omega series is awesome, Brandee! It’s set in the same universe as Mercy Thompson.
I enjoyed both The Host and Lovely Bones. I think I had The Host for about a year before I read it, only turning to it in a moment of desperation. Haha. I need a year on a deserted island to catch up on books, too. 🙂
LOL, I hope I’ll be able to read The Host soon, as there seems to be many, many people who enjoyed it.
I’ll make sure my island is big enough for several of us 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Jackie.
I have so many books on my shelf too! And of course, I always have to buy more books and request more books too.
Nette 🙂
My Top Ten Tuesday
That’s the worst part, I think, the way I keep getting more books, when really, I have more than enough 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Nette.
Wow! Lots of books there! Read Firespell when it first came out! It was a good series. Sad it was canceled.
Here’s my Tuesday post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I had no idea that series had been canceled, Jessica. Is it worth it to start reading it anyway?
Thanks for stopping by:)
You haven’t read The Host?! I’ve read it like 3x (maybe 4)! It’s soooo good. Find that island LOL.
I guess I really do need that island, eh? Thanks for stopping by, Jessica 🙂

I have three of your books on my shelves too!! (Host, Lovely Bones and Firespell) I wouldn’t know where to begin listing books I have had forever but never read. I have boxes of books never read..it’s horrible.
Fablehaven
Graceling
Artemis Fowl
Is the three I leaned over and viewed on my shelf..lol.
Oh, Graceling is one I truly loved, Stormi 🙂 My kindle is full of books just waiting for me to start reading.
Thanks for stopping by!
I have loads of books unread on my shelf too. I really hope you enjoy these books when you do get around to them.
I hope I’ll enjoy them, too, Chrissy 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I LOVED The Host and recently even watched the movie on TV. Let me tell you, I loved that book so much that there are lots of things still playing in my mind like I’ve just read it yesterday!
Hope you get the chance to read it soon 🙂
*groans* don’t make this even more difficult for me, please, Silvia!! I have several other books to read, too, you know? 😛
Thanks for stopping by.
Oh don’t feel bad. I think I’ve had some much longer than that and haven’t read them yet. I actually really enjoyed The Host–more than I thought I would. Hope you get to them soon! 😀
My TTT Post
I have heard many good things about The Host, and I do look forward to it 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Liesel.
Oh, wow! I thought you read the Time Traveler’s Wife when the GUSIALI girls brought it up to read. Great book. 100 times better than the movie, but the movie is pretty good too. Will definitely need tissues.
The Host, loved it. While I’d like more, if Stephenie does not finish this “trilogy” I’ll be okay with it.
Angelology, loved it. Action, adventure, intrigue, suspense…and I think the sequel just came out or will be out later this year.
Those three I have read. The Lovely Bones I picked up at a used book sale because everyone highly recommended it, but I read to escape the evils of the real world so I a m very hesitant to read this story about a serial killer that has local ties – no matter how good it is.
Well, the 8 on my nook that have been there since 2012 unread include:
The Mind Readers by Lori Brighton
Untamed City: Carnival of Secrets by Melissa Marr
Entangled by Cat Clarke
Die For Me by Amy Plumb
Crossed by Ally Condie
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater
Mai Tai One On by Jill Marie Landis
Um, speaking of unread…how is Harry coming along? 😉
No, I never actually got to The Time Traveler’s Wife during the Gusiali read-along for some reason. I have no idea right now what exactly that reason is, though.
I have The Raven Boys, too, And Crossed. And others are on my ‘want-to-read’ list 🙂
Heh, Harry has been on my kindle for much less time than all these others, though 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Xyra.
🙂
<3
I REALLY liked The Host, almost as much as I liked Twilight. The only bad part is that it really needs a sequel and I don’t think Stephenie Meyer is planning on writing one anytime soon…that’s only slightly frustrating! 8)
That is a little frustrating 🙁 Maybe I’ll just keep waiting before I actually read it…
thanks for stopping by, Ashley.
Gah! I loved loved loved The Time Travelers Wife. I do hope you make time to read it. It was so…beautiful, touching and so sad. I wanted to throw stuff at the movie for screwing it up.
I know I’ll make the time to read it… you know, one day 😉
Thanks for stopping by Lily.
Naomi, I completely agree about the movie messing things up. The book was so very wonderful and not that long either.
Great pick. My post was very similar to this one. I am trying really hard not to TYPE SHOUT at you to hurry up and read The Lovely Bones & The Time Traveller’s Wife, but you definitely should 😉 Nice list 🙂 My TTT.
LOL, I wouldn’t be mad at you if you type-shouted at me, promise 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
You need to read The Time Travellers Wife…that one brought out all the feels in me a few years back. I highly reccommend it out of all the books you have on this list!
Lily @ Lilysbookblog
I feel like everyone is really happy with The Time Traveller’s Wife, and I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy it.
Thanks for stopping by, Lily.
I read The Host right after it came out. I enjoyed it but have been really sad that she didn’t continue the series. She got caught up in the movies for Twilight, I think.
My TT
Yeah, I’m wondering now if this might have been my thinking when I didn’t actually start reading right away. Like the leak of Midnight Sun made her not want to finish that as well. While I can understand her in some ways, it is also very sad for the fans when they get a taste of something only to be told there will be no more.
Thanks for stopping by, Valerie.
When the Host was filming SM mentioned getting back to this story. I think her motivation waned when the movie didn’t do as spectacularly as thought. Then she got caught up in Austenland with Shannon Hale.
Oooh…. I have a fair list too…. I really liked the Host, I want to see the movie to see how it turned out on the big screen. Great top 10
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
My list is so much bigger than 10 books, unfortunately (or fortunately…)
Thanks for stopping by, Naomi!
I haven’t read any of these so I couldn’t tell you which ones to try first. I may need to borrow this idea for the next freebie/rewind week since I know I have tons of books on my e-reader that I have had forever. Thanks for sharing!
I actually really enjoyed The Host back when I read it. Try to make it past the first 100 pages when you do give it a go, it gets brilliant after that 🙂 Oh and I’ve heard wonderful things about Time-Traveler’s Wife and Lovely Bones! Hope you can get to all of these soon…but life just wouldn’t be life if we all didn’t have an infinite number of books accumulating and not enough time to read them haha Cheers Lexxie xx
I’ve heard great things about all these books, which is part of the reason why I bought them *grin*
Thanks for stopping by!
Ha! I need to do this one again. It is a great topic. I haven’t read The Host, either. And I even went to the book signing and everything for it.
Oh, that makes me feel better, actually Lyn 🙂 I have so many books already on my kindle it’s not even funny!
Thanks for stopping by.
