Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #70
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
Today, I’m sharing a delicious hungry hearts quote from Tara Lain’s Beauty Inc, which I reviewed just a couple of days ago 😉 This very modern, and LGBTQIA, re-telling of Beauty and the Beast is so well done! I fell in love with Belle instantly, he’s a great character, smart, strong, loyal and humble.
My Hungry Hearts Quote:
An hour later he was propping his eyes open, but his stomach was one seriously happy organ. Wanda had stuffed him full of shish kebab, grape leaves, a huge pile of Greek salad with wonderful tangy dressing and piles of feta cheese, tomatoes that tasted like the real thing, cucumbers so fresh they snapped, and hone-dripping baklava for dessert. He held his stomach. “I feel like someone wheeled a Trojan horse full of food into my stomach. But I’d eat it all again, it was so delicious. Thank you, Wanda.”
“My pleasure, dear.”
They’d talked about everything from trees to tattoos to tabouli at dinner, but very little about Belle – which suited him fine.
Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
This meal sounds fabulous! I love the Trojan horse reference. Thanks for sharing!
I agree, it sounds really good, and the Trojan horse reference made me chuckle 🙂
Oh, I love stuffed grape leaves! I am feeling hungry now, but also stuffed…lol.
The entry into the linky came out strange this time….
Sorry about that, Laurel-Rain – it appears I had left it as ‘text only’ rather than thumbnail and I can’t go back and switch it to thumbnails. I’ll double check that next week’s link-up is correct.
This made me miss the Greek Festival! James and I went every year with his parents and enjoyed some FINE food! 😉 I’m going to have to see if I can find a Greek restaurant close-ish now. By the way, James’ dad was half Greek, so that’s why we went to the festival.
And your passage has also made me even more curious about Belle…like the fact he’s quite comfortable *not* talking about himself.
Happy Thursday, wife! *BIG HUGS*
I love Greek food! I haven’t had any in a very long time, though! And I didn’t even think to look for a Greek restaurant when we were in Chicago. We need to remedy that in Atlanta next year, Brandee 😀
Belle is awesome – you are going to love him!! *BIG HUGS*
Greek food – yummy 🙂
I agree. So, so yummy!
Wait, a LGBTQIA re-telling of Beauty and the Beast? Now this is something new and a title I’d be really interested in reading! And thanks for sharing the great quote, Lexxie 🙂
That’s exactly it, Silvia! And it’s really well done, too! This whole series is fairy-tale re-tellings with LGBTQIA characters 😀
Mmmhhh, greek salad with loads of Feta cheese! Yum! 😀 Sounds like a fun date too, lots of interesting chat.
Yes, it was a fun date, and I loved that they had so many things in common – one of those being good food 🙂
What a great meme! Yeah, food is always a winner… but what the heck is “LGBTQIA”??? I was good with four letters, they keep adding more and I’m lost!! I’m good with “they’re in love” and calling it a day (yeah, if it were that easy…) 🙂
Food is awesome!! And drinks, too;)
I usually use LGBT as well, Q = queer I = intersex and A = asexual… I’ve had to look it up a few times to make sure, though 🙂
Ha! If only it could just be ‘they’re in love’ and that’s it, Kristin! The world would be so much more peaceful for everyone! <3
LOL sometimes it’s just so yummy you really can’t regret it. I’m glad I just ate something or I’d have a grumble or two happening.
I agree! But the trojan horse 😀 Thanks for stopping by, Anna.
