Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #62
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
I found a beautiful Hungry Hearts quote in What We Find by Robyn Carr. I loved the story, a slow-paced romance, where the protagonists were in their late thirties, and needed a fresh start. And food can heal many wounds, right?
My Hungry Hearts quote:
In a moment she brought out a bowl of soup and a thick slice of cheese toast. Her soup was cream of mushroom and it was made with real cream. Maggie dipped her spoon into the soup, blew on it, tasted. It was heaven. “Why aren’t you my mother?” she asked. “I just didn’t have the chance, that’s all. But we’ll pretend.” Maggie and Enid had that little exchange all the time, exactly like that. Maggie had always wanted one of those soft, nurturing, homespun types for a mother […]
Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
Ah, comfort is just the best sometimes. Thanks for sharing!
I agree, Lauren. Good food often brings out good conversations and some love, too 🙂
What a fun post idea! Thinking about books that I’ve read, I can’t remember any particular quotes about food, but I’m sure they’re there. I’ll have to read with extra attention now:)
Great excerpt too!
I started noticing food and drink stuff a while back, and I thought it would be nice to have a place to share some quotes that made my mouth water.
Thanks for stopping by, Sunny!
Aww that’s a sweet moment. Good bowl of soup can make anything better. 😀
Yes, a bowl of good soup is so comforting, warm and kind of safe.
That sounds like a sweet, precious moment! Thanks for sharing this lovely quote with us, Lexxie 🙂
It was, Silvia ! I’m glad you enjoyed it, too 🙂
The soup sounds delish! But the camaraderie between Enid and Maggie is the real draw. I like the idea of them having this discussion, in the exact same way, for years. 🙂 I really am going to have to pick up What We Find, Lexxie!
**BIG HUGS**
Yes, the delicious soup plus that camaraderie just makes that scene perfect, Brandee. I’m sure we’ll write some amazing food and drink scenes in three weeks 😉 *BIG HUGS*
I’m drooling at the thought of mushroom soup and cheese toast. *wipes drool*
and oh, I love Robyn Carr! 😀
This was my first Robyn Carr book Sya! And I can’t wait to read much more by her 🙂

I love this quote! Comfort food is something I love more than anything. I love all soups (though I’m very partial to vegetable/beef) and gooey grilled cheese sandwiches. End it with orange or lime sherbet and I’m good to go.
Gooey grilled cheese sandwiches… yeah, that, soup and your sherbet sounds fantastic, Lekeisha!
Food in books always makes me hungry… :3
Me, too, Stephanie! And it also makes me feel like the characters are more ‘real’ – I love eating so it’s always great seeing the characters enjoy their food, too.
Oh, I love soup and cheese toast, and the mushroom soup sounds fabulous! Thanks for making me hungry again…LOL.
Oh, I just realized the name of your book (duh!); I downloaded What We Find last week and now I am doubly eager to read it. Yum!
haha, this always happens on Thursdays now, right?
Ooo, I did a soup related one too 😉
See my TTHH
YAY, I can’t wait to see it 🙂
What a fun meme idea! I know that books by Diane Mott Davidson always have such great recipes that I would try if I was any kind of a cook. But now that you talk about this, next time I read something about this in a book, I’m going to make a note so that I can do one of these posts!
Thanks, Lisa! I almost always find some food or drink quotes in my books these days, but I’m also looking for those a little more closely now 🙂 It would be great if you could participate one day.
